Check In Wednesday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Check In Wednesday

Postby Colliemom » Wed Jun 01, 2016 5:40 am

Morning from the 45th,

Well, here we are, June 1st. Also check in day on here. In other words, those of you who have been reading but not posting, check in an say hi, let us know you are still with us and what you have been up too, even if nothing. It's always so nice to hear from you.

Rain on the way here today. Much needed. Way to dry up here. Going to be good day to work in house, do some cleaning and packing. Moving out day is two weeks from tomorrow. Called the utility companies yesterday and got arrangements made for transfer of services, terminations etc. Only took about an hour  You know the ritual of getting through the Press the numbers etc. and then eventually getting a live person. All were very nice though, enjoyed my conversations with them. So that's done. Last major thing to do. Now for the closings next week.

Kate, saw your note about the U.P. All the roads up there are good highways, U.S. 2 and M-28 being the main east/west roads, the ones you would use to do a loop around the Peninsula. 55 mph speed limits. Some other areas have two lane roads as well, so unless you are going to head off road, no problems at all. If and when you get to MI, I will be your tour guide if you would like. Goes for anybody else as well. Anybody got any ideas for a fall GTG someplace. I see IrishIRoamed is also wondering same thing. What are you thinking Cheryl, MI, WI, MN as you mentioned North?

Hoping to get into my trailer this week and give it a cleaning and get organized. Gonna be busy the next few weeks and two back to back trips, one with and one without it. Nikki, hope you eventually get yourself out from under the house and hit the road. Like you say, things keep getting in the way.

Miss Piper is busy emptying her toy box. Going to have to get some new toys, getting tired of same old. Doesn't help that she's a chewer either and has destroyed a couple already. Guess the bones are getting to be same old. Miss Molly is taking her early morning nap already. Be time for her eye drops pretty soon. Eyes are doing very well, cleared up and nice and bright and shiny again. Will be on the drops for another 5 months though. At least now, it's only twice a day.

Well, time to get moving here. Get dressed, the house cleaned up and kitchen floor washed, then back to the boxes again. I think I wam going to run out of boxes today. Will have to go get more. Not a lot left though, so we shall see. Have a nice day everyone.

Good morning Everybody from beautiful CT. My garden helper is still coming! She says pulling weeds is better than therapy. So, this morning there is a bowl of beautiful organic strawberries for breakfast. Help yourself. Enjoy today. Peggy

RABBITS! :P Figured I haven't spoken to a person yet this A.M. so it counts.

Sue, WI or MI is good, haven't even thought about MN, but I could be open. Hoping to start looking this weekend and am open to suggestions.

Not a whole lot else {{{shaking}}} around here, just rain. Have a good day ladies and stay safe on the roads.

Gmorning all :)

Yes, I do hope our "rabbits roll call" brings many of our "readers only" to our breakfast table here this a.m. :D I know so many of us regulars (am I even one of them anymore  ) miss & wonder about those who have "disappeared"..

Kate, always nice to see a new face here--Gulf Coast? Horrible weather there--Martha, are you getting flooded? Cheryl & others, great gtg now a treasured memory:)...

Perfect weather here in central NY, & I continue to putter in my yard daily. Need to organize my time to get HarBor into my mechanic for some brake work. Rotors were "bad" before I left for winter trip, but I didn't worry since I'm a very slow/defensive driver. Just had to put up with some vibrations when I did have to brake hard (rarely)!

Off to putter. Y'all have a great day & be safe always 8-)

Sounds like everyone is busy! I am busy at work  but thought I would drop a quick note since I saw you were talking about a GTG. I am thinking about going around Lk. Superior in Sept. from WI, to the UP and around as I have to be near Duluth by Sept. 26 to meet a bunch of women from my college class. I have never made this trip and it has always appealed to me.

Supposed to be cool here in MN today and then more rain on Friday but flowers are blooming, trees are all green and it all looks wonderful.

Have a wonderful day all, safe travels to those on the road.

Morning everyone!

My honey just told me "it's calendar flipping day". I had to sit here and try to figure out what month it is, living where there no is change of seasons has me all messed up, I always think it's February. It's really weird.

Heading to the allergist in a couple of hours, see if they can't get a handle on my breathing issues.

Hope everyone has a super day!

Rosemary, where in MN are you right now? We should meet up! I could also meet up with you in the fall up along the North Shore too. I love it up there!

Going to have a friend check out my laptop today. I got over 200 junk emails overnight! Need to get that problem resolved fast! I do have Webroot virus protection but obviously something got past it.

Have a good day! :D

Good Morning and happy June 1, We were supposed to get a cool front but looks like it will miss us. At least it is cloudy and the guy finally showed up to mow our yard. Back is so high I've been walking the dogs as so many ticks, ah summer fun. Sorry about your laptop issues Barb, didn't you get a Chrome this time? I thought they didn't get virus, DH has one and that's what they told him, humm I better check that out!. Donna, get some help please or you are going to ruin your health and be unable to help yourself much less your Dad. Talk to your sister and make a plan.
Thinking of Anita today off on an awesome trip in her SS!! Can't wait to hear details.

DPF…present and accounted for! Morning! I remembered to say Rabbits about 4:00 this morning when I woke up with a raging hot flash/night sweat and couldn’t get back to sleep. First word I said out loud although there were plenty not so pleasant ones rumbling around in my head! Do they ever quit? I’ve tried just about everything suggested. We’re having odd weather….so much rain. Nothing like the poor people in Texas, but enough that the farmers are so behind in planting that they don’t know what to do. At least some of them can keep a sense of humor…one man has a boat attached to a planter sitting on the edge of his field.

Yesterday I finally thought I had all my pots planted…this morning realized that I missed two of my nicer pots that were in the garage. Now I have to decide if I’m going to stick something in them or say enough for this year. I have four more beautiful extra-large matching planters this year because I have friends who know me so well. At the time of mom’s funeral they sent outside planters rather than bouquets. We had set them outside and so many people commented on how nice it looked when they walked into the church.

Well…have a good month everyone! Remember Camp Cihak is open and the manager is on-site full-time this summer.
My mind works like lightning...one brilliant flash and it's gone.

Morning or should I say good afternoon (not a morning person ;) )

Things have been quiet here. Recovering from sinus surgery. Allergies had me so backup up they had to go in an clean them out. Looks like my vertigo is clearing up which makes me happy. I'm told I don't make a good passenger

The kids and grandkids are due here in about 10 days for our annual get together at the campground. Four generations at the campfire. Thinking of having a Thanksgiving in June party while they are all here. Since they live in CT I don't often get to see them around the holidays. Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday.

Don't have any trips planned this summer so around Easter I put the camper on a site for most the summer. Getting spoiled being able to just show up.

Phoenix is still dealing with her medical issues and the GB is growing like a weed.

Rabbits! Morning from sunny HOT California ! Hovering around 100 all week and supposed to be 105 Friday! Ugh. Same routine here of appointments with various medical providers. Mel has a sleep study on June 9, so will be heading to VA around 8 p.m. I'm contemplating how to spend a night with no LOUD tv ( his hearing loss is worse) and just da kid and I here. So nice to just have nothing going on! Wishing those who can, happy camping!

I missed morning but I'm here. When I went to the grocery store yesterday I decided to get some leg quarters to BBQ. Harold cooks us steaks on Sunday but it doesn't look like he cleans the pit much. I spent an hour cleaning the pit and an hour cooking the chicken. I tried to cook it slow so it wouldn't be pink and wouldn't burn. It came out pretty good. The store had seasoned it and I found it a little salty. I thought about getting some strawberries but I like them in a pie with whip cream on top. Figured I didn't need that.

When we had a Boston Terrier he could take the squeaker out of a toy about as fast as I could buy them. I have tried to get our Border Collie interested in toys but he is only interested in cows. If I throw a ball he looks at the ball and then at me like I lost my mind. I give him one of the chew bone type treats or dental chews every day. He really likes it if I will share a wiener with him. He and I should be doing more walking but now the bugs are coming on. The deer flies get really bad the warmer it gets.

The rain has gotten here from Texas so it has been raining off and on but not a lot. I hope we don't get a lot of rain. Looks like the Houston area has more flooding again. All the clouds are keeping the temperature down to the lower 80's.

Donna, glad you and Margie were able to have a GTG. Going out every month will make the summer pass faster if it doesn't get too hot. It gets to the point here that it's just too miserably hot to do anything. The Louisiana Belle campout this month is over on the Eastern side of the state. When I think about going through Baton Rouge and across I-12 I don't want to go. The July campout is by Lake Charles so I signed up for that. My sister and I usually go to the lake for the 4th. Will have to see what the weather is then. My son and his girlfriend want to go somewhere they can swim. I told them if they would tell me in time to make reservations we could go to a campground near here that has a pool with a lazy river. They have a band sometimes on weekends so it's hard to get in if you don't make a reservation. Not my problem if they can't get their act together in time.

Pat, that was nice of your friends to send outside plants for the funeral. I can't help but think all the cut flowers are such a waste. The Ficus tree I have came from my brother's funeral. It is abut the only plant that I have been able to keep alive. Probably because it reminds me of him. It has gotten so big that it has to spend the winter in the old house and the summer on the carport. It seems to do well with that life.

Harold fell yesterday and has a goose egg on his forehead. He wears a baseball type cap most of the time and that probably kept him from hitting his nose. He is getting unsteady on his feet. I'm afraid he's going to fall and break something.

Got home from a week of camping with my BFF Laura Segrest (CougarFan). She headed home Tuesday and I went to the Resort up the road so I could dump my tank and organize and clean the Motorhome, worked out well. Just finished unloading and taking the Motorhome back over to our storage lot in my community. Remembered the battery disconnect switches for the coach and engine and to open the fridge and freezer. Have to climb out the drivers door so I do not look very graceful on my exit.

Weather is turning HOT this weekend, predicting some record temps for the hot days, oh joy. Guess I will just hibernate this weekend. No other trips planned until the end of the month.

I actually remembered to say RABBITS this morning so we shall see if I have good luck this month. Checked my lottery ticket and so far ....nada. BUT there is hope.

Way past morning. Today was the Tail of the Dragon ride - 11 miles of 312 curves - and I did it!! We were a group of 13. While visiting with the leader beforehand, I asked how fast we would be going - he told me 'the speed limit'. Yeah, right! Wow! Going up, a 2 wheeler was ahead of us and wouldn't pull over - was doing 20 (limit is 35). Even motorcycle riders can be rude - we were all a bit disappointed, but had a good ride back down. The routes getting there and back were fun, too.

I've met some great people. One couple in the park asked me to go to dinner the first night I was here, but I declined since I was tired. They keep an eye on me tho. 2 couples today were great fun - one man kept checking on me when we stopped. Nice to get little ole lady attention I guess.

Rides again tomorrow and Friday. Hoping I'll be better prepared with sun screen, camera, etc. :)

Wish the rain could be routed to where it is needed! I sure saw a lot of fields that were flooded in Missouri and Tennessee. Bugs aren't too bad here, but I had a big one smack my helmet today. Guess I forgot to look to see if I needed to scrape it off.

Hope you all have a good evening!
