Yep, I'm back on the emotional roller coaster. Karen, I can't afford to keep a house and travel, so I'm not sure what you mean by home base. I'll have the sort of address of record or domicile that many full timers have. I won't rely on other people to handle my business. No renters for me, Sue. I know what you mean about "once you're on the road." The trick does seem to be staying focused on the future and expecting good things.

Nikki, I returned to Kerrville once a year for my doctor appts, renew driver's license, etc. I stayed at Guadalupe RV park then the KOA instead of returning to my house which was rented at the time. As for an address, I used a mail box service that would forward my mail when I called them. When I left town I left some money with them, about $20, for the postage of forwarding my mail. Altho I had a mail box number, I used their street address, with my box number like it was an apartment number because there are some things like driver's license that won't mail to a box number. There was one that wouldn't mail my statement, I think it was the driver's license, that recognized the address as a mail box business so I used my daughter's address. If you need a physical address you could use mine and I'd be happy to forward your mail to you. Most things I paid on my computer or set up auto pay. Proud of you kiddo. You're moving forward.

I consider a home base my legal address. I went about 5 years without even entering that state at one point. You must have a legal address somewhere, for insurance, banks, etc.

Nikki, the Escapees have the mail service in Livingston, TX that many RVers use. They also have campgrounds all over the country. You can buy lots in some of them, maybe all. I have never been to one of their campgrounds.

Before we got rid of the old tenant houses we let people live there free a few times. The only condition was if you wanted something fixed you had to fix it or live with it. Even then it was a pain. A nephew and his family lived in one 11 years. They were full of big ideas when they moved in. They painted half of the front of the house and it stayed like that until they moved out. Harold let a family with kids move in next and the kids wouldn't stay out of the barn that was on the property. We were afraid one of them would fall out of the loft or set the hay on fire. When they moved the house went next. We don't have the temperament to be landlords.
