What a fabulous day this turned out to be. Although it was a little foggy and misty, it was still fun and well
worth the money to do the Blue Ocean Whale Tour out of Moss Landing California. (Monterrey Bay)
There are several of the whale tours out of that harbor but I'm glad I chose the one I did cause they had
the biggest boat! and when your out there in the open ocean....I want the biggest boat of all! Saw
a couple in a kayak even and that just scared me, especially when the whales were RIGHT THERE!!
on with the pictures.....
the boat is the one in the middle with the blue and white banner across the top, the top was open seating
inside and a little outside deck at the back
the front, and the orange out of focus thingy is life boats (four)
the first mate fishing balloons out of the water, they do this often
the captain and the marine biologist (she taught us the whale stuff)
These guys were everywhere and quite verbal loved it but there were signs on the docks warning
folks that they are dangerous and to stay clear of them.
exiting out the harbor we passed an old pier stand just filled with cormorants, and yes, it stunk bad!
sea otters that live in the harbor
me of course
one of the reasons I need a good camera...several whales breeched and the cell phone camera is just not
quick enough to get the pick..
off in the distance a whale flaps his fin as if it is waving at us...the captain takes us closer
there were many many whales and we could actually see the pods and the green circles they would make
in the water. Lots of spouts and the captain took us right up there and we found ourselves right in
the middle of these pods! At one point one breached right to my left and of course I didn't get the shot.
But it was something I will never forget! Oh, and I didn't get seasick one bit, some folks on the boat did.
