New under things?

Why? And what is it with women???

What is the mental block that afflicts us when it comes to buying underware? Why is it that about the last thing we buy for ourselves is underware??? We buy all kinds of other stuff to wear. Is it because it's hidden? No one sees it? So that it's not a show off item? Now I know that the young girlies will buy sexy under things. But that does seem to go out the window after ya have been married for awhile. And good heavens after ya have kids??? You know that you'll probably never see sexy after that!!!

God forbid ya end up with big boobs!! I have the conviction that the designers of bras have no concept of big and sexy. If a bra is built big you can pretty much resign yourself to utilitarian. Oh they make bras in large sizes with lace so that they look pretty. But pretty and sex big bra means for the most part useless. And underwire!!!!! OMG!!! NOT on my full sized frame!!! ~sigh~

Bought a new bra last weekend. Oh I was happy, it's my size and lacy. Very pretty bra and it made me feel feminine to buy it. Ahhhhh maybe at last I have found the one. It's a Playtex 18hr bra too.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA :x

I took my shower and thought "Ah Ha" I will finally wear my new bra. Well ya should have seen me putting the damn thing on. Good Grief. I am so use to putting a bra on with the hooks in the back and simply reaching around and hooking the thing up. Not this bra. Had to put it on backwards and do up the hookers in the front. Then came the twisting it around so that of course the cups are in the front where they belong and are suppose to do the most good. Thought I was gonna scrape the hide right off my ribs fighting to get that thing twisted around. Then came to getting the straps up onto my shoulder. Have any of ya'll tried to get a straight jacket on by yourselves??? And not just get it on but done up all nice and neat the way it's suppose to be??? I finally got the damn straps up on my shoulders after hearing some pops and snaps. Thankfully I believe it was only stitching? Because I'm not in acute pain.

But pain??? Well extreme discomfort!!! This thing feels like a straight jacket. 18hrs??? HA!!!!! :o :? I will be lucky to last 8hrs?
Maybe less????

I think I'm gonna go back in the bedroom and grab one of my old bras and take it to work with me.

I dread the thought of trying to get this torture device off while standing in those tiny stalls at work.......

I would love to get ahold of the designer of this lacy bra. I can just bet it wasn't a freaking woman. Unless she's into S & M!

Front hook bras should be put on like a vest/shirt, arms through the straps with front to the front then pull together and fasten. You'll find it is so much easier even though a different routine. If it's that tight, could be the wrong size. No bra should fit so tight it cuts into you like a knife. Newer ones will feel tigher because our older ones have stretched out a lot.

Echo, I hear ya! And while you CAN try them on in the store, who wants to stand in a dressing room and try on bras? Not me! Then ya get it home and a 36C in one make isn't the same as a 36C in another model! Now, why is that? I should be able to go buy a 36C in any make or model and it SHOULD FIT!

Good luck. Let me know if you find a gooder!

You write what is often thought but seldom mentioned....:) and it would be funny if it wasn't so true......I don't remember ever hooking bras in back....it has always been the hook in front and turn it around thing (complete with underwires....) I have known several women I worked with in the past that were able to get "breast reductions"...I think they were considered medically necessary and covered by our insurance at the time...due to back pain, etc. I have also never taken up jogging :-)

Bras drive me crazy !!! I'm 50 and have yet to find one I really like !!!
They're uncomfortable and hot and just a pain !!!
I did get those "strap-tastic" things (that's not the right name, but I can't think of what it is) they're the little do-dads you put on the straps in the back so you can wear a "racer back" T or in my case so the straps don't fall down. They're a little hard to put on, but they work great.
Ok - I found it - Strap Perfect ( https://www.strapperfect.com/flare/next )

Most of my adult life I wore a 36C.....but about when I turned 50, all of a sudden none of them fix... Ah, Ah.......I broke down a went to one of those places where they measure you for a correct fit.....laughed my head off when the girl...(new employee) told me I was a 42B.... :o  Told her to try again and then we came up with a 38C....much better.... cause her boss helped then....My point being, Echo, maybe ya' need to go be measured......or as in my case, go from 36C to a38C........ ;) BTW.....I don't do the buying of bras much anymore....Ernie does a better job of it..... .....now to panties.....got a belly...can't wear bikinis.....can't wear High riders.....so it's Hanes briefs for me.....my niece calls them..."Granny Panties"....I don't care....they are comfortable!!!!

I was buying size 42 Ds for years and finally decided to get a good bra as things were heading south. I went to Nordstroms and had a fitting. It was strange but the gals there do it all the time. Found out I was actually a 36 C! It did feel tight at first but was told the straps are to hold up only 10% of the weight. I think we avoid good/better fitting bras because of the cost!! OMG! I bought 4 and it came to $225!! That was 4 yrs ago and they still look like new. You do have to remember to wash them correctly to avoid breaking down the latex (?) or whatever makes them stretchy.

My name is Sharon and I'm a lingerie-a-holic. Can't go into any dept. store without hitting the undie dept. Love, love, love Victorias Secret, but refuse to pay 40 bucks for their bras, so try to confine my shopping to Kohls and Mervyns when they have a sale going on, elsewise between the shoes and undies I'd have to go back to work to support my habit!

Back in the old days when I had money to spend I bought bra's made in France. Beautiful lace and they fit much better than American bra's. Now I just wish the quality of Thrift Store Bra's was better.

I can't believe the topics of discussion we have on this forum!!!! Isn't it great !!! :o
Oh well, now as to my addition to the topic. As I no longer have a husband, no one at all to see, I still enjoy lacy
bras, although larger then years ago. but have resorted to the ole grannie as Lori says of hanes briefs, ( I do like the colors) they are
comfortable, and when traveling as I love to do we all know comfort is best :) I enjoyed seeing this topic, made my
day ladies. Isn't that sad, undies topic helps my day.

Take care all

I love my Grannie Panties ! I have a couple of pairs of lower rise ones to wear with nice slacks - it looks kind of tacky when my panties stick out of the top of my pants - HA !!!
I've started wearing men's boxer briefs to bed - they're really comfy !! I call them my "manties" - HAHAHA !!!

36C?????????????? I haven't seen a C cup since High School. You are soooo lucky. I just bought a couple new 46DD at Lane Bryants Discount Store here in Allen and they are the most comfortable I have found since I have no choice but wear one. It comes off shortly after I come in the door and stays off till I have to go out!! LOL If I had one cosmetic surgery, it would be a breast reduction!!!!

The older we get the higher the waistband of our panties goes. You know those white turtle neck sweaters you see so many old ladies wearing.....
