Boyce Thompson Arboretum State Park

what a fabulous place, if you ever get in the Phoenix area, there is a place east towards Superior called
Boyce Thompson Arboretum State Park. They do different programs all the time but usually repeat each
program a couple times during the season. Today they had the didgeridoo concert set up in the Eucalyptus
Forest. They also did a little seminar earlier that demonstrated how they were made. We missed that,
came in on the tail end but heard enough to learn they use termites to hollow out the logs they choose.
But the concert was not missed and I loved it.
The trails were easy to walk and you can take your dog with you and they even have water dishes at each
fountain for the dog to get a drink too.
ok, on with the pictures....

a little meditation area (one of many) along the trail

My friend Sharon and her little Sadie in the stroller. Sharon was one of my friends from Colorado that came to
stay for the winter. She's liking the snowbird thing.

Ayer Lake (a portion of it)

The Clevenger House an original structure consisted of 3 rooms. Entry room had a fireplace and then two
bedrooms. Fabulous herb garden planted around the Clevenger House.

Of course my favorite vegetation is the kind that provides shade, this one being the Weeping Oriental Arborvitae

The suspension bridge

I walked out to the other side of the suspension bridge, looked up and saw this.....Picketpost House (the original homestead)

we didn't go up that way because the trail up there was a little rough for the stroller and the two old ladies with no
walking sticks. Next time I will take the hike and tour the house.
But we continued back down towards the Eucalyptus Forest as we didn't want to miss the digiridoo concert.

a couple of didgeridoos

the stage is setting up

this guy was playing the didgeridoo, for those of you on facebook I posted a video of the music

Been a long time since I've been there. You remind me that I have to go back. Thank you!

Looks like the kind of place I like to wander around. Thanks for sharing. One question - could you really tell the difference in the songs? Anytime I've heard them they sound the same, but I'm musically challenged (tone deaf?)

yes, I could tell the difference, they demonstrated different sound techniques and "chatter" and in some instances there were
the accompany of flute and drums. It was very magical, and one of the guys does healing with the resonating of the tone. He
had a special one made out of copper with a very large bell on the end. My friend Sharon, is an ordained minister in a metaphysical church got one of the guys cards to demonstrate at her church. Ironically he lives near her in Denver. The healer
guy lives here in phoenix, and I'm going to research it more.
