We like a lot of the same things. I'll most likely be in AZ most of the winter. If you make it there, we should gtg. And several of this group will probably gtg in Quartzsite during the big gathering there. As big as it is - you can stay away from the crowds.

Welcome Vic. New Mexico is one of my favorites but the northern part gets cold and some snow in the winter. There isn't much in the way of water tho except for some lakes. Keep us posted on your travels.

Hi, Vic. Welcome to the forum. AZ has lots of BLM land to camp on and there is the Colorado river on the west side. I plan to be down there for a while in March.

I don't dry camp myself, but two of my very favorite places with lakes and beautiful views are Lake Pleasant, one of the regional parks northwest of Phoenix, and Lake Powell on the border of Arizona and Utah. Lake Mead is another pretty place.
