More dental work

Postby retiredhappy » Thu Feb 26, 2009 1:10 pm

Okay, I'm going to cry on your shoulders. Been having long overdue dental work done before I head for my summer job. Am having a lower removable bridge so have been semi-toothless for 3 days so have been hybernating. Was supposed to get final bridge today but had to go back to the lab so hopefully tomorrow. I'm doing the Sparkle thing, hand in front of face when talking. Neighbors that normally don't talk to me have all decided to come say "Hi." My dentist says I'll get used to all that stuff in my mouth quickly and might have a little problem with my "s" sounds for a while so naturally my dog's name is Sassy. Okay, I've whine enough. Thanks for listening.

I wanted to feel bad for you - then I read Liz's and Sparkle's replies and I'm laughing so hard that I just hope you are too.

This is where you think positive. Think about how wonderful you will look when you smile after all this work is done. When people talk, just listen, nod and smile until you get the hang of speaking with the new hardware in place. :lol:

Oh, Karen....you'll do just fine.... ;) You've done good so far....after your tongue gets use to the hardware, the stumbling over "s's" will go away....Been there...done that.... ;)

Okay you guys have given me a giggle and made me feel better. Get my final hardware today - whoo hoooooo! Then off shopping - ran out of wine - an absolute necessity of life. I've got my Garmin all programmed and am sooooooo ready to hit the road on the 9th.

Oh heavens Karen!!!!

I for one am not gonna pick on you. OMG I hate the dentist!!!! Just the thought of going makes me sick to my stomach from nerves and fear. I hit the office door, if I can get ahold of the doorknob from shaking so badly and I start to cry. 54yrs old and going to the dentist makes me cry like a child. {{{{shudder}}}}

I have got dental work I need done so badly and have been putting it off for about forever. :o :o :shock: :shock: :? :? :cry: :cry:

I'll keep my fingers crossed that all goes well today and that you will be done with this round.

Karen, guess you have the new stuff in your mouth by now. Before you know it, you won't even realize its there. Not easy to start with, but hope you adjust to it all quickly.
That wine, you were going to pick up today, probably will help :lol: :lol: You'll be smiling prettier then ever really soon.

Looking forward to pics of your new job area. Enjoyed Douglas area last yr., you made it look like there was something to see there for all of us.

Take care, happy travels

I am so glad I don't have to go to the dentist any more - Not since I was 39 - have had full dentures since then - The weird thing is I still get a toothache now and then - phantom pain. Have had no problems, can eat whatever I want when I want. Including bbq ribs, corn on cob and apples - And they were pretty easy to get used to. Have thought about implants - but if it works leave it alone.
