Phoenix-area GTG Feb 8-12 Usery SP - Lunch on Sunday

Let's get together!

ok, for Grocery stores, I googled the Frys Grocery and here's the ones listed nearby the 202, the easiest one is the one on Stapley (B on the map)
https://maps.google.com/maps?oe=utf-8&c ... =0CJEBELYD

or you could go past the exit you need to get to Usery Park and instead, get off at Broadway and go to the Frys on Ellsworth (A on the map)
then when you get out of the grocery you would just go north on Ellsworth from there.

snowball told me about the GTG and I'm west of Phoenix so may be able to make it there. I could bring some kind of cookies or something like that. I'll just be driving in for the day. Is there parking nearby?

day use is $6, of the regional parks I've seen there was always parking near the restrooms and of course the restrooms are walking distance
to the spaces. Just need to find out which space Judy will be in once she lands there.

Karen and I have sites for Feb 9-12. We'll be in #38 and #70. Those were the only sites available when I booked.

Edit: and we'll contribute to lunch.

I was very happy to see that more people are going to be coming! I will be arriving on Friday, the 7th, and will be in Site #48. So far, here is who is coming:

• Avalen (Ava) will come for the day – confirmed
• Mizdeb (Deb) will also come for the day - ????
• Snowball (Sheila) will probably come in for the day – confirmed
• Carolb (Carol) might come in for the day – not sure which day (can help with cold cuts)
• SoCalGal (Lyn) has a reservation for 9th, 10th, and 11th – Will bring 2 tubs of salad
• Daibraik (Dawn) will come in for the day – confirmed (lemon meringue pie?)
• BirdbyBird will be there 8th and 9th – confirmed
• Drocknut will be coming for day – confirmed
• Karen will be there 9th through 12th – confirmed #38
• Olive will be there 9th through 12th – confirmed #70

I will move as far back into my site so we can squeeze in two cars--I do not have a toad, which is good, and I will postpone renting a car until Sunday. Also, I am close to the group campsite, so I will see if we can park a few cars there.

I will get sliced ham, turkey, and beef for sandwiches. I will also have mustard, butter, and mayo. Carol, maybe you can get some rolls? Please let me know. I will be sending a message to you all with my cell phone number.

If you want to get there as early as 10:00 am, that would be good, so we can chat for a while. After lunch, we can go for a walk or hike or whatever. I am assuming the day only people will want to leave mid-afternoon so as to get home before dark, right? Let me know what your preferences are, but I am going to be around in the evening so maybe the rest of us can get together or go out to dinner together. Even though this park feels isolated, it is really only a couple of miles from Mesa.

Sunday I am going to rent a car for a few days to drive the Apache Trail and go to the Heard Museum. I also have a brother in Phoenix who I will take some time to visit.

This being Arizona, I can almost guarantee no rain and mostly sunny. Weather.com says high of 69.

On the other hand, better bring a jacket or sweatshirt, just in case. :)

I will be there for sure on the 9th. Just tell me what you else you need and. I will bring it. I am getting itchy feet after being in one place for the last three months and this is so what i need right now to get me through the next two. Looking forward to this.

And the reservation system did let me make an additional reservation last night for the last two days. Poor computer got confused the night before and kept telling me it was a duplicate. I have a different site but will still be around.

Just saw your note about your coming on Saturday, Sheila. Sorry you won't be there for our lunch on Sunday.

We hadn't planned anything for Saturday, but maybe we can get together informally.

Any suggestions from anyone for Saturday? I don't want to get into another potluck, but maybe we can at least get together to meet Sheila somehow.

Or maybe someone else would like to organize something informal on Saturday while Sheila is here???? (I've got work to do but can spare a couple of hours.)

Duh! I don't know what I'm thinking--will be in CA til end of Feb where I'm needed by aunt and cousin. Well, my original thought was to bounce between CA and AZ, but not :( Will miss y'all at Usery, but hope to catch many of you when I get to AZ in March! Have a great time!:)

Tina, glad you got a couple extra days. I'll bring sweet potato salad and Nikki is bringing a dessert. I will also bring some kind of bread or rolls for the sandwiches.
