Still Cold Thursday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Still Cold Thursday

Postby cpatinjones » Thu Jan 30, 2014 10:05 am

Good morning,

This is the 3rd day of "stay at home ice/sleet" day. For two days, highways and interstate 10 and 49 were closed because of ice on roadway.

Woke up to 20F this morning, but the sun is shining and most roadway/bridges are open! Ice should start melting soon.

I have cabin fever and cant believe I am saying this, but I am ready to go back to work!.

Have a great day!

Good morning all. I woke up to -2 this morning but the upside is that the sun is shining! I think today might be a good good day to get out and make a run to Wal-Mart. Need to get some doggie treats and a few other things. It'll be good to get out and see other people! The dogs are great listeners but just don't add much to the conversation! Have a great day and travel safe.

Still Cold Thursday

Postby linann » Thu Jan 30, 2014 10:22 am

It rained all last night and the temp dropped to 45 at the FL GTG, too chilly for an outdoor potluck. We heated some great chicken soup and rolls. The portable electric fireplace kept my rig cozy. Watched movies and slept nice and warm with rain falling on the roof.

The rain stopped this morning and it is time to venture out. Jeans and a jacket will be perfect until it warms up this afternoon. Compared to the freezing temps up north, we are having great weather at the FL GTG with a few chilly days to remind us that it is winter.

I feel so bad for all of you in the path of winter storms! It's rainy here but that's the norm. Stay warm! I'm starting out on a trip today and everything has been completely dry. Of course, when I decide to take mountain roads it starts snowing! Oh well, I'll take the dreaded 5 Fwy south.

Wet, Cool Thursday !!!

Postby Carolinagal » Thu Jan 30, 2014 11:46 am

Good Morning !!! If I hurry it will still be morning when this is posted. Hope everyone has managed to stay warm. We have a drizzly day here, on the cool side, but the GTG goes on. What are the rest of you up too ???? Must be too cold for some to muster up energy to do much. Glad I am not at my home!

I have a new heater, thanks to my BIL, it's getting a nice workout and really doing a good job. Earlier I had asked for ideas on which one worked better, don't need those suggestions now :) This is larger then I would have considered but it's prefect for in here. Maggie sure likes it.

Hope none of you have been caught on the road in some of the areas that roads have shut down, this includes Florida. Terrble weather almost everywhere, had to say almost because those CA people will pipe in and correct me !!!

Have a good day, please take care and stay SAFE,
CArol :)

You're right CArol, we CA people always seem to mention our great weather. But, we had just a little rain last night. Not nearly enough to help our drought conditions, but it's better than nothing. Hope everyone stays safe and warm wherever you are.

The rain has finally stopped but still cold and grey. My long johns had to come back out last night and will remain on at least until tomorrow.
Just added 4 more photos to the Hillsborough gtg thread…….. getting a little better.

Sue Anne and I were going to head to Las Vegas tomorrow or Saturday. Now they are saying high in the 50's and low 30's till at least the middle of the week so we will just stay in Quartzsite longer. I'm getting odds and ends fixed while here anyway, so a good use of my time, alas the money drain hurts though.

It's nice here 71 but the winds are kicking up. We just had home made french fries and catfish that I cooked outside on the gas grill. I don't like to smell up the motorhome, seems like it clings forever. These fish didn't really taste like what I have back home, I'm wondering if they had been frozen or something. They were ok but different texture.

Soon as I finish dishes we are going up and getting Dairy Queen for desert, sounds good to me.

I put up a new light fixture in the bedroom, I bought 2 but the new ones look so cheap next to these old ones hated to take it down. They are framed in oak and the new little plastic things didn't fit inside. I'm going to try to reoder them or see if hubby can solder the wire. I think one wire has just come loose over the years. But at least we have a light up in there now and are not stumbling to the head of the bed to be able to see.

I think its going to get colder here too. But I looked at the map and southern MIss, Ala, Florida pandhandle, Lousiana are all facing bitter cold. Looks like you would have to be clear in extreme southern Florida to escape this. How awful for everyone. And those facing hefty heating bills have my sympathy also, not a good situation.

Added a couple more hoots to FL gtg from tonights dinner. We gathered at Nan's as it was too cold to use the pavilion even with a fire.

Think weather man promised some sunshine for tomorrow.
