Let's get together!

GTG AT RAINBOW SPRINGS SP (FL) 3/6/14-3/10/14

Postby linann » Sun Nov 10, 2013 6:49 pm

A short GTG is coming together at Rainbow Springs State Park (east of Ocala). Anyone in the area is welcome to join us. MsBHaven booked four nights and I reserved three nights. There are a couple of sites available in Loop C where we reserved and a few are available in Loop A. The sites are level with a surface of white gravel. Rainbow is a fun river to kayak and canoe with a launch right in the SP.

Hi Karen,

So glad you were able to get a site in Loop C. We can compare notes with Margie and Roger when we get there and decide what everyone wants to do. I know we will bring our kayak since there is a launch right in the park. There is another section of the park that is fun to visit -- about a mile away. We'll probably have a few potlucks and I'm hoping we'll have a campfire or two. However, it is really whatever anyone wants to do. So far, every GTG I've been to is sort of like a sleepover with your own bedroom in tow. They are always fun!

Linann, I am sure excited I hope it is sorta cool so a fire would be good. Well just let me know how you all do the food so I can make sure I bring what I need to do the potlucks or whatever. Does anyone have pets? I am excited. See you all soon. KarenS

Most of the GTGs I've been to or planned have been "sorta' like a sleepover with you own bedroom in tow." ;) Also we tend to do "food gathering" with what ever you have in the fridge or cupboard...with usually, 1 planned "Pot Luck"....but every GTG is what you make of it....Linann has it right....Alot prefer to do things as the "mood hits us"...and go from there... others prefer "planned activities".......The whole point to a GTG is friendship and fun....

So go have fun, talk around the campfire or picnic table, and enjoy the company.... ;)

The best part of a GTG for me is meeting new people and meeting again with the ones I have already met. The only problem with GTGs is they fly by so quickly.

March will be a great time for a campfire. We can wear shorts if it is unseasonably warm. Of course, it it's that warm we can tubing down the river and we will definitely want to sit around a campfire!

Sounds like another good GTG is shaping up. We are on Loop C site 15. We arrive March 6, depart March 10.

Last GTG I cooked at home and took a variety with us. We ate together every night and everyone just brought whatever they had. We ate at each of our campsites. One night turned into pasta night. I had a pancake and bacon morning for everyone. Liz spoiled us with real maple syrup, heated.

There are usually no plans and it just works out great. We will have our dogs with us.

Looking forward to this GTG.

I am definitely interested in trying to make this GTG, but have no money now to make reservations! I will just have to pray that one will be available when/if I find some bucks to reserve a spot!
