Fear Aggression

The Animal Planet used to have the most wonderful shows on dog training. One of their shows was Bad Aggressive Dog to Household pet in several lessons. I loved those shows....now AP is silly, silly, stupid.
My Casey was 1 1/2 years old when I adopted her from a shelter. I knew nothing about dogs at the time. I choose her because of her age (I did not want a puppy), she had been spayed and she weighed only 40 lbs.
We, have had many, many lessons (mostly me). One of the persons diagnosing Casey labeled her a SHY dog. During the years we have been together I found out she was horribly mistreated and not socalized either to other dogs nor humans!!! These are long stories...too much for here.
Casey will now be nine years old in September. She is a great pet. She gets along will other dogs unless they bark and snarl first at her. She gets along with the puppies in our condo building. Right now we have a little baby French bull dog.

Thanks, Sharon. I've had Scarlett for such a short time, that this behavior is all I know. Next time we go to the vet, I'll ask about thyroid. I hope Chewy stays out of trouble.

Thanks, Lynn, for the encouragement. I believe that a year from now Scarlett will be as sweet as Olive is. And she sure is teaching me a lot.
