Most of the items you rattled off run on electric or generator primarily because they draw so much current. The batteries are more used for the tech/computer stuff, radios, 12 volt TVs, lights, and things that have minimal draws.

And if you do use an inverter, please remember, it IS pulling from your batteries. If you pull too much, you drain the batteries. I use an inverter quite a bit, but have 4 batteries now ... and do not use it for things that have high draws. (Well, not often, but I can - during the day when my solar panels are replacing what I'm pulling) ... ) Now you could use an inverter for your tv - IF you have enough batteries and battery power - and if you know how long you can run it ... But somehow you have to keep the batteries charged. And as Tina said, the high pulls - no, you don't want to use the inverter for that.

My rig came with an inverter which I have never used in the 3 years I've owned it. I didn't know why I should. I am usually plugged into shore power. However I just read an article on inverter stew and realize I may be losing out on some usefulness. The writer described putting her stew ingredients in a crock pot, placing it in her RV sink and cooking while she drove. Dinner was ready when they stopped for the day. Only possible because they turned on their inverter, correct?

For those of you who use your inverter, what other situations might cause me to use mine?

Joan, I used a small inverter to do that and charge batteries, computer etc when driving.

It depends on what those items draw. I would think both would work but don't use either, so wouldn't know for sure. I like my gas stove - and have never thought about using my George Foreman when boondocking.

when boondocking if I wanted to run the toaster or microwave usually turned on the genny while doing so ...although if it's something that is a quick minute like the 321 cakes wouldn't probably
