Hello! Introduce

Come on in and say hello.

Hello! Introduce

Postby themoirae » Fri May 17, 2013 8:02 pm

Hello,
I am once again living in my own motor home. Last time was in the late 80's early 90's out in the High Sierra and down in Mexico- on my own and I didn't know of any other solo women doing this at that time Of course the internet wasn't available then either.
Now- newly divorced (well~almost final! ) I'll be heading back out west by the end of summer.
I'm glad I found this forum. As much as I loved the life back then, there were some lonely and sometimes scary times. I have a much better rig now, but am contemplating an upgrade before the long distance haul. I have my horse to take with me and my Jeep.....need to find a driver....

I split this into it's own topic ... you were lost in someone else's intro post! Glad to have you with us and I'm going to bet with your experience you'll be able to help lots of others (as well as tell us lots of your own tales).

Welcome to the forum. And yes, cell phones wifi and mifi definitely make traveling along the highways and byways a lot different.

Thank-you for the hello and putting me in the right spot :)
My former travelling companions were a golden retriever/aussie mix and a Siamese cat; they used to ride on the dash board. This time I have a pure bred German Shepherd Dog, Angel. She is also my service dog which means I have to constantly explain her since I am not blind, lol. Maybe there is a blog to be done in there somewhere....

Remember, you NEVER are required to explain a service dog. They can't even legally ask. So tell them you have a service dog and that's that. I've thought about having Peaches trained to help me with my hearing. My previous dog did things for me I never realized ... like let me know my alarm was going off, etc. If I did that, could make her my service dog. Meantime, she's my pet. But if I should do that and should tell someone she's a service animal, that's ALL I need to do. Yes, it means some people abuse the system. They would anyway, but service animals are not just dogs and they are not just for the blind.

OK, off my rant. And hope to meet you and Angel down the road :)

I can't wait to have the time to write about past adventures and some of the things I learned...and the funny stories I have to tell...

Right now I have to get prepared for my DIVORCE to be final- May 30, if all goes well. I have a feeling it will take longer than a day. I am my own attorney so the next week is a lot of work for me! Organizing all my paperwork for the court/trial. My darling husband hasn't paid the spousal maintenance in over 16 weeks and owes me a lot of money on that alone. not to mention the horse farm that we were business partners in. I was a teacher for Equine Assisted Physical Therapy (for kids and adults with physical and mental/emotional disabilities) -before I became disabled myself. My horse is a therapy horse and is the only reason I can now walk without a cane...and can function as well as I do and can go back on the road.

I am also an artist-became a potter through VESID (helps disabled persons start their own businesses; but that's gone now with the divorce) Was a painter(pastels) before that...Have to come up with a travelling plan for my art, again.

Btw, I have been doing psychic reading since I was a child. I had an agent for a while when I was out in LA. I've worked for a few hotlines. I currently donate my time for my church, via telephone. I am trying to find a better/less expensive cell phone/internet provider than Verizon if anyone has any input I'd love to hear it.

We had some sever T-Storms last night and now my antennae isn't getting any TV stations. I'm wondering if it is because electricity is still out over where the signal is coming from or if something happened to my antennae???? The power never went off here at camp and the wind never even got that bad; no bad lightening strikes right here. The surrounding area had downed trees, etc I saw on the news before I lost reception. Everything looks ok on my roof....

I have a Wineguard Dish 500 Satellite that came with my RV, just haven't bought a receiver. Until I know what my divorce settlement will be I don't want to commit to paying for TV. In the old days I didn't have TV and never missed it; now I am spoiled. It gives me company...and connection to the world.

In the old days I ONLY boondocked. This RV needs to be plugged in b/c the fridge is only electric...Well, I am looking at another used one, pre-owned by a mechanic, totally boondocakable. First things first- got to get through this divorce! I'll check back, but won't really be able to write much until after May 30...til then....
