A system for exiting the RV?

Does anybody have any ideas on a good way for a 40# dog to exit the RV without using the steps? My wonderful rescue dog, Gracie is truly made of spare parts. Her short, crooked legs do not support her solid, muscular body. She has had orthopedic surgery and is not supposed to do stairs. I lift her in and out, but it gets old.

Could she do a ramp? I know they make them for getting into SUVs. Seems like you could just set the ramp on the door sill and over the steps down to the ground.

Maybe they have ramps of longer length that wouldn't be so steep. Perhaps you can search online to see if there are different sizes. Amazon seems to have a lot of different lengths.

There are people on the forum who use or have used ramps. How steep it would be would depend on how long and how high you need it to be. If you search, you can find the topics and even pictures.

When my 80# Buddy got where he couldn't do the steps I bought a folding ramp and it worked really well. I bought mine from Tractor Supply but most pet stores carry them and I think Amazon also. I was using it on a Class C and then my Roadtrek. If you're using it on a 5th wheel it would be steeper but still better than stairs or lifting him all the time. Mine was shorter but I believe they make them longer as well.

I use a ramp to get my Oscar up in the truck which makes the ramp a little steep, but still doable (especially if I'm shoving his rear end up the ramp). I hope you found a ramp that works with your 5th wheeler.

If you do a google search most stores carry them online. Petsmart has a few. Wag.com has a nice one that only weights 10# but will support 200#

But wouldnt it be like X-pens? When I arrive at site they are the first things I take out and set up, then they are outside and the last thing I put in the van before I leave. http://weloveteaching.com/RV/1220021515b.jpg

x-pens are to put the dog in outside. She needs a ramp.

That said, you will find many cg's that don't allow x-pens so if you need to use them, make sure in advance they'll be ok.
