How level is level enough?

How level is level enough?

Postby Olive600 » Fri Mar 29, 2013 4:40 pm

I moved Betsy onto the street which is more level than the driveway so I could run the refrigerator. Bought a couple of inexpensive little levels at Walmart. Turns out the one side is high, one is level. I set the little levels on the corners of the back bumper. Am I doing any damage? Seems like I should be able to find this info somewhere, but no luck, so I'm turning to the experts. Have found lots of good info on youtube videos. Thanks.

Check the level inside the refrigerator...I put mine on the bottom of the freezer to check. If it's level or almost level there, you are good.

Liz,
Thank you. Followed your directions and the freezer/fridge is level. I love this forum!

I level the stove top. I just hate it when the egg slides out of the skillet. :D

If I can stand in my rig and not lose my equilibrium and know I won't roll out of bed, or into the wahl, I figure I'm level enough. When long stays I like to be level tho.

If I was smarter, I'd say something clever about wine and equilibrium and rolling out of bed and level rigs, but I'm not, so I won't. The moral is: level first and wine second. Got it.
Thanks for all the help. I have another refrigerator question: Why does the refrig run on propane when the rig is plugged into my home current? The manual says that 120V has to be available for the fridge's auto setting to choose elec. 120V? Isn't house current in the US 110? Where do I find 120? I'd rather not use up my propane any faster than necessary when the rig is sitting at home. And yes, I do read the manuals and search online before I ask these questions. (I'm pretty sure my head is going to explode soon.)

Don't worry about the manuals...some of us have tried to read them....only a few actually have useful information in them that applies to your rig.....

My frig has a button that I have to push so that it is allowed to switch back and forth.....?

Yep, got the button, "Auto" I'll try again, but I think that with "Auto" chosen, and rig plugged in to home elec, the fridge (Auto) chooses gas. Why? I think it's magic and I should just surrender to the propane gawds. I've had it with manuals. Finito! But have to admit I'm feeling uneasy about battery maintenance. LOL You'd have to know me to know how funny this is. I'm stressing over electrical and mechanical diagrams. Too too funny.

I don't know what was wrong yesterday, but today the fridge is running on elec when plugged in to house current and on Auto. All is well in fridgeland. Next challenge: fuses.

That worried me when I first got my motorhome. I was convinced a couple of times my refrigerator was not working when plugged into electric. THEN I figured out that if I listened very carefully outside of my rig, right next to the refrigerator vent, I could hear it turn off and on using propane but that I could NOT hear anything when it was running on electric--which makes a lot of sense, since electric does not make any noise.

I did learn, however, that there is a little red light on my control panel, and that it has to be glowing red to run the refrigerator since it uses a tiny bit of battery electricity, even when running on propane.

Now, I have just stopped worrying about it and it works fine.

And they are all correct about the manuals. I kept reading them at first, and had trouble figuring them out. Now I just ask questions here. And really, don't be afraid to ask too many questions. Amazing what you learn from what other people ask!!
