The Situation Has Gotten a Little Tough Here

Postby HorizonSeeker » Wed Dec 19, 2012 9:25 pm

Thank you all for your prayers for my family lately. Afraid we still need your help. This was my SIL's second round with CHF this year so this time they actually looked deeper to find out what's the cause. The cause is a lot of blockage. She will be undergoing triple bypass tomorrow. I will remain camped in my brother's driveway while he spends more time at the hospital with Linda. I have been cleaning and cooking and caring for Linda's dog Lizzie who constantly walks around looking for her mommy. Our best of all plans is that surgery will be tomorrow, 2 days in CICU, 4-5 days on cardio care ward, then home to gradually get stronger. Of course with her enlarged/weakened heart the doctors have been sure to emphasize the risks but we prefer to concentrate on our plan. On the plus side the doctors did let us take her downstairs to meet and hold her first grandchild. No dry eyes there. Will keep you posted as we progress. Thanks for letting me vent a little and for introducing me to a lifestyle that has let me be here for my family. I never had a sister but when I was 12 Linda came to live with us, and share my bedroom, while Mike served his first tour of duty in Nam. We have always been close and I am NOT ready to let her go even if we don't see each other very often.

Of course I'll keep her and your family in my thoughts and prayers.

But, must admit I'm confused ... don't I remember a sister ... think you called her Glimmer Goddess? Or is that someone else and my memory is failing?

Yes, Carol, she did rally after a couple of days in ICU but then they ran some tests and found the problem. At first they said she was too weak to undergo the surgery then changed their minds. My husband had triple bypass in 1994 so I have been down this road before. Like to think they've improved their techniques by now.

Yes, Beth, Glimmer Goddess and I call each other sister because we travel together so much, but she decided to go back to work and decided to stay retired. Gus lives with her now since life on the road has gotten too hard for his old body.

this morning a friend sent me this: God doesn't promise us that there will be no storms but, He does promise to be with us and bring us safely through them when we trust in Him.
Continuing to pray on this end...

Thanks ... my mind is fragile enough :) Now you cracked me up with this "she decided to go back to work and decided to stay retired." I knew what you meant here, though ... love it.

And again, my thoughts are with her and you and all during this time. Here's hoping the surgery goes well and she is quickly on the road to recovery.
