Hello all...I am the thotless, insensitive person...Soos, I was certain yew woold realize my PM was written with mch thot, in no way denying yore feelings of losing yore child, as I stated. I'm sorry yew did not accept my apology-in-advance that my sensitivity towards parents who lose children to violent deaths might be offensive...yore post this morning speaks to that & expresses the very similarities to which I allewded. I apologize that in my grief over these senseless shootings & having known parents whose children have met violent deaths, I did not contain myself to overlook the word "exactly" in yore post yesterday, altho I thot I selected my words with great care. Also with my schooling in psychology/sociology, I cringe at the term "exactly" for anything related to personal feelings--that is my thotlessness. Will say no more except to apologize again & hope that we can move on. If not, & if the others who think I am an insensitive, thotless person, well, shall I say good-bye (with some sadness) & remove myself from this forem? I am sensitive to the feelings of others, & if they prefer that I jst "go away," I will do so with no hard feelings. Will appreciate all & any honest opinions as an opportewnity to grow as a person, whether as a "member" or not, whether posted here or via PM. Thanks all.... :|

CarolB...thank you for sharing your apology......that is what communication is all about...to keep trying....and being human gives most all of us plenty of opportunities to practice negotiating our thoughts and feelings with others in this imperfect world of words......

Of course not go away, Carol. We have all been very traumatized by the events of the past weekend, and things have been said that would not ordinarily be spoken.

I would not have mentioned your name, as I was shocked that some people believed you had written me an insensitive message and owed me an apology. I did not feel that way-----I was just totally devastated to think that someone had thought I was being very insensitive to the depth of the hurt the Newtown parents are experiencing. I found that first message to be shocking, and way off mark for what I had been trying to express, but then wondered if perhaps many others would feel the same as you did. Hence the apology, as I did not mean to belittle the violent deaths by stating that I could empathize with those parents. However, I still feel that any parent who has lost a child can empathize with others who have lost children, regardless of the mode of the death. I still state that I can feel their agony. In fact, those of us on here who have never lost a child can probably feel their agony, too.

Anyway, enough has been said about this, and I can say no more. An innocent choice of words by me apparently sent you into a frenzy, and your resultant choice of words to me did the same for me! I think the entire episode is a result of the agony we are all feeling, and of the wondering about how to end such deaths in the future. Enough said, and all apologies accepted, hopefully. I, too, am sorry I misinterpreted your words. I tend to be rather sensitive about death of any kind.

Goodness, we're a mess aren't we... This is the beauty of the family that this group has become. ;) There will be ups & downs & misunderstandings but in the end there is caring, forgiveness & understanding :D
Soos, I can't begin to imagine the agony that you or any mother feels with the loss of a child - surrounding you & others with prayers for comfort...
Carolb, don't you dare leave - you're the only person I've met!  You hold us together in the mornings & try to keep us straight with what's happening with whom & you keep our minds sharp with the little 'ew' exercise each day....
Ditto - what you both have said - 'enough said'...

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who is finally realizing it's time to get serious about Christmas...  My son & DIL arrive Thursday evening (yep, that's the day after tomorrow - yikes!) - really need to get the house in order, but each night I've been tied up with other things... oh well, it will be fine... once they are here, it is what it is & then the fun can begin :D

Liz, Ditto what everyone else has said - the sunrise is awesome!!! Thanks for sharing it! And your other surprise announcement is very cool. Thistle looks so happy & 'at home'. Merry Christmas to both of you!

Wish I had more time to comment on other happenings, but gotta get to my sisters house for a bit... :? The house will get tended to tomorrow night.. yeah right!

Later...

Words can hurt and words can heal and everything in between. And we have become a society that often misunderstands the written word. We want to see and hear a person. I think this was talked about and explained and everyone understands what was meant on both sides. In the wake of what happened, which cannot be explained, that is a wonderful thing.

Carolb, I did not mean to point fingures when I replied yesterday. Please don't leave. You have made your apologies and personally, I think you were very brave to come forward and say you may the PM to Soos. We are family here and we all pat each other on the back from time to time. I know I have had my shares of pats here. I can't wait to see you in FL and introduce you to those I know and we'll meet the ones I don't know.
