A better Thursday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

A better Thursday

Postby carolb » Thu Dec 06, 2012 7:00 am

Good morning!!! :D YIKES, looks like yesterday wasn't kind to many of yew, so I'm hoping it's a better day for y'all. Barbara Rose, yew definitely have my empathy--setting yore life aside to care for a parent, & dealing with the accompanying financial stress. I've been there, as many others have been. Hang in there! Yore a better person for doing this great thing called "CARING"!!! Dawn, yew amaze me that yew are doing the "caring" thing on the road! Can't even imagine that! Yore DirecTV problems are not to be envied--coold be worse tho: the IRS coold be on yore case (sorry to hear that Liz)!!!...Nice to meet yew, DONNA with Maggie, & MAGGIE with Oscar & Jasmine! Now who else is it that has a 4-legger Maggie??? Threw owt my cheat sheet the other day since I was feeling confident I was getting names down pat! Do we have a Pat? Can't remember that now   Catherine, so glad to hear yew & sisters have devised new "traditions" for the coming holiday--a world of change when WE become the "older generation" in the family...Soos, glad to hear Dinah hasn't been seizing! Yep, so scary to watch the little poopers have one. I've had two vets for Tigg--one said go on pheno, the other said only if they happen more often. Red, yew may not be styling, bt a hard hat might be a trend that catches on! .. Y'all have a great day, be safe wherever yew are/go! 8-)

Good Morning Ladies !! Carol, I'm the one with the little buddy, Maggie. She and I, have been traveling buddies for 12 yrs. She has seen me through many situations and kept me from loneliness. We've seen and smelled many blade of grass all over this country :D All Maggie's 4 footed or 2 footed have to be the very best !!! :)

Hoping all of you ladies have the best of days in whatever you do or wherever you are . I'm off to try again to get my Gen and its computer right !! It runs good in cool weather, iffy in hot, computer spits out bad little messages, needs an oil change too. That's probably my day, although Liz and I might find some trouble , oops I mean fun to fill the day

Have a Great one, Stay safe !!!!

Morning all,

Just chiming in for a few here this mornng. So much been going on the last couple of days and I haven't been on to play catch up. Hopefully later today.

Ms. Tessa and I will be off to her vet in about an hour for another round of test and see whats going on this week. She's been off her meds since last week and has changed dramatically for the most part. More like her doggie self. But that underlying problem is still there and I know the infection is too. So will probably go back on meds again. She hasn't eaten much for a day or so, but yesterday, chomped up two cans of food, so guess she's ready to eat when she's ready to eat. So far this morning, nothing. Been sleeping mostly. She got a nice bath from me last night, so she's all clean and fluffy again. And I think I found some food that mom likes, so now she has no interest in Tessa's. :)

Just doing a quick skim of things from yesterday's coffee, I see that there have been some interesting problems going out out there, but most seem to have been solved now. Barbie, sorry you are having such problems. Hang in there, you have managed so far. I know you hate the cold weather, but being by your dad is the most important thing right now. Some day when he is no longer here, you will know in yourheart that you did the right thing.

Irmi, that's wonderful news about your insurance company coming through on your needed repairs. Dawn, glad Paul finally got his ignition problems taken care of. Yep, pays to carry that extra key. I used to keep one in my walled all the time, but the new keys for my Flex are so big, that it takes up too much room, so It stays home, but it will be going with me when I head north if we go.

Lori and Ernie, nice to hear that you are in your winter home in GA and enjoying it. Judy is chugging through FL. Are you flying hom for Christmas? Soos, is busy making sure Dinah doesn't get out of her screen room. All kinds of things going on for our 4 legged ones.

Well, time to get moving here. Talk to you all later and have a great day.

Good morning everyone!

Today is a travel day for us. Going down the road about 183 miles then staying put for 5 days. This will be my first experience with all Interstate driving. Have mostly been on 2 lane Farm to Market roads here in Texas. Not my favorite kind of road. I am looking forward to having rest areas where we can pull over and stretch legs for a few minutes every little while.

I sure hope Tessa gets good results today. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Carolb, I sympathize on keeping all the names straight. I still get confused sometimes.

Red, I may borrow your hard hat. With my blind spot, I walked smack dab into one of my slides the other day. It still hurts.

CArol, you and Liz have a fun day and stay out of trouble! Don't know how much bail money there is in the fund.

Lori, so glad you are back in your GA winter home. I am hoping we can catch up with y'all there.

Got to finish my coffee and get to stowing. Hope everyone has a wonderful day and if you are traveling, stay safe.

Good morning y'all. Glad Lori and Ernie are safe and snug in their winter home in GA. Can't wait to see the pix. Dawn, ouch, I know how that hurts. Be safe on your next leg down the road. My helmet is purple  BarbaraRose, taking care of dad. Same as everyone else has said, it is not fun, but is what is needed and you're the one to do it. Carol having computer trouble. Carolb still missing U. Sue taking Miss Tessa to the vet again..a weekly occurrence!

I'm in mourning! Dave Brubeck passed away. I was a clarinetist and was told by my cousin I was not a true clarinetist until I could play Take 5. It took a while, but I learned it and that began my love of Dave's music and jazz. RIP Dave.

Today I'm gonna try to catch up on errands. I have a Dr. Appt on the other side of town, so I'll be making many stops on the way there and back  this time of year the traffic is crazy. All the people that usually are not out driving during the middle of the day M-F are out and about rushing around on their extended lunch hours. And then there are those that only drive at this time of the year. I'm still amazed how far people go just to pick something up or have lunch. Remember that you can fit 3 whole islands of Oahu within Harris County. Oahu is 596 sq miles and Harris Co, is 1,703. So driving these distances just to see a doctor or go to a store is still foreign to me  Everyone have a fun and safe day. Aloha y'all

Yeah, but Red I've driven on Oahu and sat in longer traffic snarls than in Harris County - when it goes south, it really goes south :) Just think how far we travel to see one another - all the way to Canyon Lake

Oh, there's another DOG on Saturday. If I go, it will be only for the day. No camping this weekend - trying to get the Land Dinghy ready for its 2 week adventure.

And I still get me and the 4 legged Maggies confused!!!

Early next week we are supposed to have a polar express cold front hit most of the country. Enjoy any warm weather while you can. I plan on being in shorts all weekend.

Polar Express?! Ouch that will be a shock after all of the warm weather that has been spoiling us.
Grammynmaggie, I know what you mean, this 'flew' has zapped my energy too, and it's been two weeks since it got me.
I received an early Christmas present last night. My breadmaker bit the dust & DH had order a new one for me for Christmas but decided I needed it now. I liked my old old "Just for Dinner" breadmaker by Westbend but they stopped making them of course, bread making time was 45 minutes.
On my to do list is take back the iPhone 5 I bought Tuesday. I really don't like it as I mostly use my phone to read on and the screen has been reduced by 1/2 "!!! Also many of the apps haven't been formatted to fit so everything is really really small!!!

Yesterday was dull and drizzly, so I ran some errands, dumped my tanks, and got some cleaning done, including laundry. Today is also supposed to possibly rain, but the sun just came out, so I may ride my bike to the nearby lighthouse for a tour before it starts to rain again.

I complained a lot about the dust in the desert, but now in Florida, I can see where the humidity is going to be a problem. My towels are not drying well, and I discovered when I did laundry yesterday that I need to be more careful tp put towels into the laundry only when they are thoroughly dry! So this morning when my towels were still a bit damp from yesterday, I stuck my little electric heater into the bathroom and closed the door for a while. I do have one vent open in the bathroom.

Oops, sun just disappeared again!!!

I've been here several days and can hear the acorns dropping on my roof from the big oak tree I am parked under. I think I need to get my short ladder out and brush off the slide awnings before I put them away. I am assuming the acorns and leaves on the top will blow off as I drive. I''ll be a moving squirrel buffet!

Glad I got my flu shot a couple of months ago. Sounds like several of you have been hit.

Hi, everyone. Susan, from Merlin, Oregon here. I recently joined, but I don't write much. I do enjoy reading your posts. The storm that sat on us in the West was nasty. The Rogue River flooded a couple of RV parks along I-5. The sun is out this morning. You all have so much to say. It's really interesting. Wish I had more. I'm off to Coquille to stay overnight with the granddaughters.Parents going to a conference. I'm thinking about driving my rig to Mesa, AZ the end of February for Spring Training (baseball). It will be the longest trip I've made by myself.

Now I'm cooking food for my kittens. I had been feeding them a can of soft cat food to get them in their cage at night and it must have been too rich for them. They have both been wormed so don't think that is causing the loose stools. The internet says to boil rice and ground meat and mix it together. It tastes bland to me so they probably won't eat it. I was in Petsmart yesterday and they have 2 aisles of cat food and about 6 of dog food. It's hard to believe they can sell all that.

It's gray and humid again today but still warm enough for shorts. I'm not looking forward to the cold front. I finally got the ants out of my Ficus tree so I'll be able to bring it in. I still have a hanging basket that is trying to bud out. I wish I had ask what kind of plant it is when I bought it. I got it from a hospice fund raiser. The hanging baskets usually don't live very long for me.

Dawn, I hope you can find some rest areas. I haven't been across I-20 in a long time but Louisiana has closed almost all the rest areas on I-10. At least in Texas there are places to pull off even if there aren't facilities. It's aggravating to have to exit and try to find a place to stop.

Red, I know what you mean about the crazy traffic this time of year and the town I shop in is not nearly as large as Houston. They have finally gotten the traffic flowing better. I have sat through 4 or 5 light changes just to get through one intersection. My son makes fun of the show Hawaii Five O. When they are trying to chase down a crook he is saying it's an island, people.

BJ, I hope you like your new bread machine. I lost one I loved in the flood and I still don't get along with my new one.

If you make the trip to Mesa in Feb/Mar, make sure to let some of us know - we'll be glad to meet up for a day or a lunch or something :) And it's good to see you posting.
