Bandit, Gracie and Pixie

Postby avalen » Mon Jul 14, 2008 7:29 pm

Here's my crew, all Italian Greyhounds

Bandit is my biggie iggie, and pushing 14 in october. He's not a well guy
but we still have some good days when the weather is cooler. I rescued
him from a guy that was threatening to turn him loose in traffic cause
he just didn't like him. That was in 1999 and he was 5 years old. We
bonded right off the bat and he's been my constant companion since.
He's seen me through many good times and bad times, and lots of road
miles under his tags.

Gracie is my wild child, she's an itty bitty iggie standing only 12 and a half inches.
She is the one that has attitude, and gives me plenty of it when I get home from
work. She scolds me for being gone all day. She turned 2 in April and before she
had even turned 1 she was sporting a cast for a broken leg. IGs are known to have
that happen.

Pixie aka Xie is my recent rescue. She is 3 years old and just 12 inches. This little
girl just stole my heart, she was bone skinny when I got her and had no muscle and
seemed to almost not know how to jump in the chair or on the bed, or do even one
step up the stairs. Its my suspicion she spent alot of her life either in her kennel or
being carried. She is the most sweetest, loving, and innocent thing I've had. She's
learned to jump in the chair and on the bed and doing very well with stairs now.

Ava ..they are really sweet.. I showed I G's for a few people and yes.. I almost died one time I was showing a gorgeous dog.. and he broke is front leg... I was sick.. I was only 16 at the time.. and she said.. "Dear that happens he 'll be just fine once it's fixed.. " but it does make you nervous.. but they have improved in a lot of the breeding..but still ya have to watch... However.. they are really neat dogs.. and they cuddle..

God Bless

Ava, your IG are absolutely beautiful. Isn't it a hoot how their personalities are so completely different? Thanks so much for sharing all their pics. And I hope you have a lot more quality time with Bandit.

Sooo sweet. Have never met one of these little guys that wasn't a complete love but I always want to feed and feed them cause they're always so slim.

Be still my heart! I love IG's. I have never had one, but I'm getting one tomorrow to foster. He's coming from a terrible situation. May have to get some advice from you. Your guys are precious. Such sweet faces. :D

Aww. I'm so sorry for your loss. You have wonderful write-ups of your furbabies. They are beautiful. We've frequented all sorts of IG playdates and gatherings- even hosted some events in our [old] back yard that benefit rescue. Our last event was the Iggy 500 in Indiana- have you heard of it? Right now Mike is partially behind me on the sofa, wrapped around and his head is shoved under my arm which is effecting me ability to type properly. Hazen is curled at the end of the sofa next to his Dad whom finally came home from work. I sure hope we cross paths one day- my boys are ecstatic when they see their own kind (or other sighthound breeds).
