I hope the factory takes care of the damage as well as a fix too. If they don't come up with a good fix. Either Carol's pin or Maggie's baby latch should work well. The baby latch would go inside and not show. You could even put one on each side of the drawer.

I certainly understand your frustration and disappointment with these issues. You might have to get creative with that hole. They should fix it even if they can't replace the entire panel. I would insist they place a strip or a piece to cover in same wood and stain. Remember the GS Action line...it's there for us, I say use it..

This seems to be a common problem all across RV brands. In my case, I've had everything from the slide in pantry rack to the fridge door to the bathroom door slam open and it's mostly been my own fault because my drawer slides and cabinet clips seem to be just fine. However, I often don't get the drawers securely locked in behind the "stopper" piece. I try to take my flight attendant's walk checking each one before taking off because my co-pilot just won't go back and fix it!

Having said that, I have a friend who ons a very expensive motorhome and every one of her drawer slides keep breaking because they are plastic. Her rig costs over twice the price of mine, but she has plastic drawer slides and catches!! She has had no luck getting the manufacturer or the dealer to correct the problem.

Before my DH died, we had a large, 3-slide, fancy motorhome. Gorgeous to look at, but behind closed doors, under the shiny surface, was the cheapest stuff available! All our drawer slides broke before the first trip. The sliding mirror door stops broke and the doors went zinging across the coach-wide closet. We brought the rig back to the dealer's, spoke to our salesman while the sales floor had customers, and they replaced each and every one of the broken sliders. Real problem is the shoddy stuff they put into these rigs in the first plasce.

Definitely figure out how to keep those cabinets and drawers where they belong - bungees, baby locks, dowels, chewing gum!

Newbies: Add this to your check-off list - make the salesman remove a drawer so you can see if it's only one slide made with plastic bracket.

As far as that drawer goes, have you ever thought about the Kinder latches that parents put on their drawers to keep kids out of them. Totallin installs inside drawer and have to push down on latch to let it open completely. Thought of that the mninute I saw your drawer. Reminded me of my drawers in house I had to stop Candi from diggin in when she was small.

Really sorry you've run into a brick wall with the Manufacturer....I would definitely pursue them to make proper fixes. I have a '99 Born Free with solid wood cabinets....I store my pots & pans (heavy) in the bottom drawer below my frig....I have a sliding latch with a 'keeper' keeping it closed so have never had a problem. Also, have a slide-out pantry that holds plenty of canned goods which is kept in place with an inside sliding latch...as cabinets & insides are wood & not fake wood, I have never had a problem. With my overhead cabinets I have put the left over strips of foam from my over-sized mattress pad (about 3" thick) inside each one before I close it, therefore keeping everything from moving around and making noise.....All of my latches & 'catches work till today & I have never had a problem. The Born Free company & their staff have always answered my questions & been friendly, professional and personal (know me when I call)...plus they stand behind the quality of their product...It's an expensive coach but well worth the money because of their high standards of excellence and quality built in materials. I bought mine used but it was in like new condition and I've had it for over 8 yrs. now and it's still in like-new condition...I'll take quality over glitz any time...and the company is family owned since they started up. Oh yes, I also have roll bars....just in case (said the owner....safety, safety, safety is his motto).....and no....I'm not advertising....I'm just commenting on my experience.
I truly hope you're problems are resolved to your benefit....feel bad that you have to go through the hassle............good luck...

Good idea! I have had similar problems with cabinets and drawers on this RV....never on my Roadtrek. I have had screws vibrate loose and cabinet doors fall off! My brother fixed the drawer with a new latch. My SIL fixed the cabinet latches with longer screws just recently. So far so good on those. I use the tension rods to hold cans and stuff in the cabinets. I put bottles of liquid in a rectangular plastic container, about 4 inches deep, that fits on the shelf. A vertical tension rod holds the plastic pan in place. I use the pan so that if one of the bottles did leak, the mess would be confined to the container.

I use other plastic containers to hold other things...like books. If I have two cabinets facing each other with knobs close, I bungee the knobs together when traveling.

I've thought about the baby latches, but I like the pin idea also. I will have to investigate where I could put the pin--maybe on the side? The problem is finding something study to attach it to. I have waited until this warranty appointment at the factory before I do anything. I don't want them claiming I voided the warranty by making a modification!

I did think about getting a burnished brass or aluminum panel to glue onto that bashed in spot--sort of like those kickplates you put on the bottom of doors. The problem of course is how to attach it. I think it would need to be glued.

I don't want to have the panel repaired until we can find a fix for the drawer because it will just end up with another hole!
