Friday already

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Friday already

So where is everybody? Nan just pulled out of Pat's driveway here in South Dakota and is headed on down the road towards Florida on her own. I think I am sitting still here until tomorrow before heading east towards Ohio. Stuart got a bath with Pat's hose yesterday. Today it will be Remi's turn to clean up. Not being a water spaniel he will get warm water in the rig.

The sun is shinning but the wind is blowing and it is a bit cooler that the last few days. I plan to rest up for the final miles back to Ohio.

The kitchen is open here. Use your imagination and the pastries will appear. I can taste the fresh warm cinnamon rolls....and then of course you need to lick the melting icing off your fingers.....

Coffee, tea or diet pop....just fix what you need to start your engine. Hope everyone has a good day ahead of them.

Good Morning from north of Seattle!

We are back in the lower 48 - woohoo! The sun is even shining. We have some shopping to do and it will be time to contact some friends in this area. We will head to Port Angeles no later than Wednesday for my niece's wedding next Saturday.

We didn't make many stops in B.C. the last couple of days so I will want to revisit that area.

We did stop at a couple RV dealers and LeRoy has decided on the truck camper he wants - a very nice Northern Lite. I was hoping they would have a certain brand of Class C so I could at least have a look but no such luck.

Safe travel to all on the road especially during this holiday weekend!

Slept in this morning, mostly because I was up last night reading. Love these chilly nights and sunny, warm days. After I relax and read online stuff, I am going to check my bike tires, top them off, and do some exploring of the Grand Canyon Village area via my bike. I want to check out the Mather Campground where we camped about 30 years ago.

I realized last night that I have planned my trip to have three weeks in a row in places without large supermarkets (North Rim, Zion, and Bryce), so I will really have to stock up when I leave Page, AZ, next week. I don't want to have to pay high prices in campgrounds or small town stores. I have a ton of paper things, but might need to add paper towels. Will fill my freezer with meats and the refrig with stuff like eggs and cheese. Fresh fruit and produce will be a problem.

Getting a bit weary of tourists who shriek and talk loudly in large groups at scenic overlooks. One of most unique things about GC is the silence. I spent a lot of years trying not to be an "ugly American" when I traveled abroad. Wish some of these tour groups of Europeans could do the same! They are missing a lot by making all the noise.

Almost to Ketchican, so have signal again....then not until we reach the lower 48 or have WiFi. Beautiful weather for the ferry. Yesterday we saw humpbacks, orca, porpoises, and on a walk in Juneau...salmon spawning and eagles catching salmon.

Glad to read that Echo is awake and apparently of the respirator. Prayers being answered.

Maybe more later.

Finally just sitting! Mom's house is entirely cleaned out and the carpet cleaners are coming this evening. Woohoo! Now all we are waiting on is Paul's MH. He took it to Ford dealership on Tuesday to get it inspected and have the brakes checked. They have not even looked at it yet. He called them earlier and told them he needed it either today or tomorrow, so just do the inspection if that was all they could get to. Since he had never driven it before, he just wanted to make sure the brakes were OK. He said he would get that done when we get back from Oklahoma if he needs to. As soon as it gets back, we just have Mom's stuff she needs loaded in his basement bins. That won't take too long to load.

Ali sent me a message that they were not full up there for the holiday weekend. I figured everyone would be. I am going to call our friends in Oklahoma and we may leave out on Sunday or Monday instead of waiting until Tuesday if they have sites open. Figure I will call them as soon as we get Mom's stuff loaded in Paul's rig. Hopefully, it will be ready tomorrow since it is already after 4:00. I am so ready to leave. It hurst so much everyday seeing all the changes to our house and land. Everyday something else changes. I knew it would, but I hate seeing it.

Hope everyone has a great holiday weekend and if you are traveling, stay safe. It was really great getting Kelly's phone call about Echo. Made my day!

Heading down the road toward Florida. I am south of Omaha, so stopped at a campground for the night. Pretty nice campground, got a bit of washing done. Shifted a bit of dust. Will head on out tomorrow and hope to get close to Tennessee before I stop. Still warm here, and very humid. Lot of clouds but no rain. They need rain all across the area.

It was great to meet Pat and enjoy a visit with her. She is a great hostess and a great cook. Tina now I have heard about some sticky buns. Do check them out.

Didn't find the first bakery today. Just stayed on I 29 and kept moving south.

On down the road..........
