I'm so sorry, Tina. Like the others have said, anyone who ever had the privilege of meeting Herschel knew how special he was. He was our hero, especially after rescuing Belle at the Petit Jean GTG in AR. Just know that you aren't alone in missing him, even Ronnie is crying this morning right along with me.

((((HUGS))))) Tina, I never had the chance to meet Herschel but felt such a connection to him through his pictures and your many posts. In fact I think all of us on the forum felt that we all were Herschel's hoomans.
My mind works like lightning...one brilliant flash and it's gone.

Tina I am so sorry to learn of Herschel's passing. Sending love and prayers to you. I shall miss him too.
My photos are not well organized but I've fought thru tears this morning to find a few to share.
My first meeting with Herschel was also my introduction to the possibilities of RVing.

I was so saddened to read this post. HUGS to you and Remi and Stuart dog. Herschel was definitely one of a kind, with many responsibilities (towards both hooman and furry ) that he took on remarkably well. We will be missed. Linda

(((((HUGS))))) Tina, my heart aches for you. I know the feeling. I never met Herschel personally, but through your blogs, I felt that I had always known him. He like my two girls here enjoyed traveling and seeing the sights although He made many more trips to places than my two probably ever will. At least he made it to Alaska and almost back home, but perhaps he felt that he had done it all and that was going to be the icing on the cake for him. He's now in a much better place and will be waiting for you at the Rainbow Bridge along with all his other "pals" that have gone on before.

Beyond the Rainbow

As much as I loved
the life we had
and all the times we played,
I was so very tired and knew
my time on earth
was soon to fade.

I saw a wondrous image
of a place that's trouble-free
Where all of us can meet again
to spend eternity.

I saw the most
beautiful Rainbow,
and on the other side
Were meadows rich and beautiful
-- lush and green and wide!

And running through
the meadows
as far as the eye could see
Were animals of every sort
as healthy as could be!

My own tired, failing body
was fresh and healed and new
And I wanted to go run with them,
but I had something left to do.

I needed to reach out to you,
to tell you that I'm well,
That this place is truly wonderful,
a happy place to dwell.

That your heart shouldn't ache so,
...the pain should go away
I'll wait for you in comfort
'til you come for me some day.

That although we're not together
in the way we used to be,
We're still connected by a bond
no eye can ever see.

That when you need to find me,
we're never far apart
Just look beyond the Rainbow
and listen with your heart.

Tina - Thank you for sharing Herschel with all of us. I could feel your closeness in your blog. Mitch and Sarah - Thanks for the pictures. I wish I had met him.

Gosh, the tears are flowing here   . I never had the pleasure to meet Herschel either but sure did get to know him from the posts and pics on here. He was a very special dog and touched everyone who met him (and even those of us who didn't get that privilage). He had the best life a dog could ever have with you Tina. You gave him a wonderful life that most dogs only dream of. He lived it to the fullest until the very end. He was a good, lucky and happy dog!!!

I love the last picture Mitch posted of Tina and herschel on the couch. I have a friend who always asks me why I have a dog, they seem to be so much trouble. Of course, those who have met Pepper.....You can see the love between the person and the dog, you don't get that anywhere else.

I looked for the pictures of Herschel taking such good care of those PITA twins that I accidentally left in Tn at the 7 Points GTG and couldn't find them. He was such a great dog! When I read that he was ill I was sure hoping that I would get to see him again. God broke the mold after he made Herschel. RIP Herschel Dog, heaven is a little brighter now.

Peaches wants to know why I'm heading to bed crying two nights in a row - Herschel was much loved - gave so much love. He enriched your life Tina, and you, by adopting him, gave him a chance to be the dog he was meant to be.
