Thursday's the day!!!!!

Postby cnq50b » Tue Aug 14, 2012 6:50 pm

I fly down to pick up my 'new to me' Airstream Interstate (class B) Thursday. I'm in KC, she's in Florida (Tampa-area)... :D :D :D

Getting new tires on after I pick her up - thanks to you smart gals with all the info on the codes on tires, etc. :)
Lined up my insurance today - again thanks to all the advice from this group. ;)
Just need to get the cashier's check tomorrow & I'm off!

I arrive late morning, going straight to the dealership, attend their orientation (already have a list of questions & a camera to video anything that is really complicated), get the tires installed (only 5 miles away), stop by Walmart for a few essentials & then depending on what time it is, go visit the beach, move down the road a bit, or just find somewhere close by to plug in for the night & start bonding with my new baby!

As is true for many of you - a dream about to come true!!!! :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Btw, my son just gave me 'Oh, the places you'll go' by Dr. Seuss for my bday - I've given one to each of my kids as they graduate high school or college, he thought it was time to give me one!!! Gotta love my kids!!

I'll post pics as soon as I can!!!!

Wooohooooo, I'm doing the happy dance with you. How exciting. And I love that your son gave you the book you've been giving them. And how apropos it is!

Wow, congratulations! Are you bringing a few RVing essentials with you--sheets, etc. You can always use some paper dishes and plastic utensils. Shop Walmart and the Dollar Tree before you hit Camping World for anything. Most of all, have a great time bonding with your "new to you" Airstream!

Happy, happy, happy...

I'm traveling light - taking just a few essentials that I don't want to repurchase down there (such as my large scale rand mcnally map, good flashlight, a throw, etc) :) ). Most other things can wait until I get her home. :D

This is going to be a rather quick trip - fly down & bring her home - stopping by the beach (of course) & then swing by Dallas to visit daughter's family which just moved down there 3 weeks ago. My 2 granddaughters have been praying for me to find my RV for a number of years - I figure it is only right that they are the first ones (other than me) to camp in her.

I do plan on stopping each night & plugging in for the A/C, but real camping & leisurely trips will come a little later...

Need to be back to work on Monday but I'm sure I'll still be beaming!!! :P

What a thrill it is! Are you going to start a log or diary of your adventures...they start as soon as you pick it up.

One thing I wished I would have done and the "walk through" is make sure they showed me that ever single thing worked...I figured since my RV was new that everything would work...wrong! so, the young whippersnapper that did my "walk-through" was less than impressive. I should have had him unfold my awning to make sure it indeed did work...well he didn't and it didn't. The pin that snaps into place on the bar was broken. So, I have not used it for nearly two years, but of course before my warranty is up I will get that fixed...don't want to rush into anything....or could it be I am just so dang lazy.

HAVE A TERRIFIC TIME WITH THIS WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE

How exciting. Congratulations. Are you passing anywhere near Houston on your way to Dallas??

Probably not going thru Houston on this trip - although we used to live there so it's definitely on the list for a future run...

Since mine is used, I'm pretty sure they've worked out all the bugs but there may be things I need to get tweaked. As I've gone through the manuals & followed Airstream forums, there seems to be so much to know, I just hope to capture as much as I can during the orientation, getting the more complex stuff with video on my camera or phone for review later on. But you all know how the 'best laid plans' go in the excitement of the moment. I do have some questions & things written down that I want to go over, but I know that's only the tip of the iceberg.

And yes, yes, yes, on the journal - one strictly for RV notes - mechanics, how to do things, issues, records, etc (a 50 cent comp book seemed to be perfect for this).... another one (a gift from my daughter - much prettier) for my travels, thoughts, reflections...

Thanks to everyone for their well wishes. You all really are the best!!! Can't wait to meet you someday!

Beth's worn out from all her happy dancing by now, so I'll pick up where she left off. I am so envisioning your excitement, I think I'll have trouble sleeping until we get a full report. Any chance of a progress report from a Starbuck's along the way?
