Burrs love Peaches. I love the comb that takes them out. She not so much but tolerates it. Right now she's a wet dog from our morning walk. Somedays up here she is wet more than dry. But with her undercoat, she really isn't wet through, why she loves this type of rain.

My pets are always rescues, also. I don't want ones that have to go to groomers, so need to make sure I rescue breeds I can care for - as I WILL care for them. Peaches is actually easier than Moxie was - not sure why. Tips was a breeze. But his oily fur discolored things. I'm getting way off subject

I imagine any new dogs will be rescues too. I normally buy dogs breeders would be putting down. Luke had Parvovirus when I bought him and Belle was born with no retinas. Rascal would have been put down because he is white and not recognized by AKC (especially stupid reason). All three have very happy lives and it is worth it to me to buy dogs breeders don't feel deserve to live. Not all breeders are like this, I'm sure, but I seem to find the ones who are. Going forward, I don't know that I will have dogs that require groomers since I won't be near my friend Danny anymore. He is the best groomer I have ever known. The dogs and I adore him.

Beth, I need one of those combs. I work the burrs out with my fingers. Would love something quicker and easier!

I have a few combs - but almost always use the furminator like Karen does - she told me about it, in fact. It works great for the fur and helps me with the burrs too. I must admit, I'm not missing those burrs this summer!

I will remember that. Belle is the worst about the little burrs. Her hair is longer and real fine. She comes in with burrs every day.

I, too, furminate my two dogs----Molly has rather medium-to-thick fur and undercoat, and Dinah has short hair. Both shed like crazy! I bought my Furminator back before they became all the rage and the prices have gone up hideously. I think I read where they are now in the 60 to 80 dollar range, and I got mine for 30----the one with the little "release" button that saves ever-so-much time to clear out the tines as you brush and knock the fur into the waste basket. It works well on both dogs. My furminator is in a spot next to my nail clippers, flashlight, pill containers, purse, and all that important stuff!

My Rotties are the worst in shedding... I do believe they leave enough DNA to start another herd of
Critters...

When I was showing and breeding I always made it a point to tell people why they didn't want this breed because it meant you have to brush and groom or go to a groomer......Guess you all realize I didn't sell or give away too many kids..

I have bred Lhasas, Yorkies, Maltese, Great Danes and Afghans was my first breed .. Yes, I loved everyone..LOL


Hence my breeding program was not a big one..but for ME only ....
