Question about Fitbit and Measuring Activity

Postby JudyJB » Tue Jun 14, 2022 4:22 pm

I bought this little Fitbit Zip several years ago, but never really used it until this trip. I did follow instructions and calibrate it to my stride when I first got it, but just almost never used it. It looks like this, and I got it because I don't like to wear watches or wristbands, and this one clips onto my pants pocket.

I know several of you use a Fitbit or something similar and have more experience than I do, so I have some questions I hope you can answer.

- First, how accurate are they, and does this depend on the type and age of the unit you buy?

- Second, how can I tell if mine is still at least fairly accurate? Should I spend a few bucks and buy a newer version?? If so, which one and why?

- Third, does driving in a car over rough roads cause this things to record steps?? Should i put it aside while i drive, and if so, how?

Any other suggestions for using this to track my activity? My heart tests pretty much showed that I am really out of shape, so while i might not wear something like this every day, it might motivate me to move and walk more, right??

Judy it sounds like you have the Fit Bit Zip. They worked great for me for several years but they have stopped supporting them and I can no longer Sync mine to their app. I would just put it in my pocket everyday. When you sync with the app it puts the correct time in and sends a message once a week with how far you had walked and if more or less than the week before. I have looked for something similar but haven't found anything that is easy to set up. If yours is working I would definitely use it.
