Sunny but cold Saturday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Sunny but cold Saturday

Postby gingerK » Sat Nov 07, 2015 9:00 am

Good morning gals,
Sun's up and so am I; in fact, I've been up since about 4:30. Dang those hunters anyway! Why they have to get up at the butt crack of before dawn I don't know.

Banking and shopping on today's agenda. Need horse feed.

Tried hard to make sense of health insurance yesterday only to be completely confused. Even a call to my current insurer didn't help. Now I have to call all my Drs. to see what plans they are going to take next year so I can go back to the Healthcare.gov and try to make my decision. UGH!

That's all from here, everyone take care
Kathy

good morning ladies, been up for awhile myself, have one load of laundry done and in the dryer already, will get to the store in a little bit and buy my essentials for the week. Then I'm going out to visit some friends in Apache Junction, but of course I'll have to call first and see if their home. Hopefully they will be home, previous coworkers that retired a few years ago, would be nice to have a good sit down conversation after yesterdays day from hell. I'm at that point when I don't do well
with smart aleck kids, and this new one on my bus is driving us crazy. Even his teacher requested him to be removed from
her class and I want him off my bus. Tells me he's autistic and can't be held accountable for what he says or does. If he's
that smart to know, then he certainly can. Its extremely hard these days for me to just bite my tongue and go with the flow.
He's mean to the other kids and I told him he still had to be respectful to everybody on the bus. Boss said we had to stop rushing him to get to the bus, (he makes us late) but if he's not on the bus by 2:26, we get to leave him. Can't wait for that
day, we will, by dept procedure, be asked to go back but I can say "ok, I'll be there at 4:30 when I'm done taking the rest of the kids home" Thats acceptable, but I can no longer tell him to hurry to the bus or come out early. I can however say,
when you get dismissed from class, come directly to the bus. We have to be careful how we word stuff, just like we
can't say "shut up" but instead can say "please be quiet, or quiet please" He's yelling at the other kids to shut up, and these
other kids are blind, deaf, cerebal palsy, wheelchair kids that have uncontrollable outbursts of noisey babble and the
only reason they go to school is to the give the parents free babysitting. This is high school in special ed. Oh wait, we don't call it special ed anymore, its called special needs. All I can say at this point right now....ITS GOING TO BE A VERY LONG YEAR!
Well, I've vented and getting on with my day. Ya'll have a good one, hope your cozy and comfy and dry.

We got a complaint from Chezza's Pre-k the other day that when they called her for lunch she would not pick a chair and sit down. I asked if they told her to sit and they said they could not tell the child to sit  She had to figure it out herself. Well at home she has her chair at the table and her little chair to watch TV so she would just stand there waiting to see which chair was hers. How do you have a room of 4 year olds and not tell them to sit? We've had more discipline issues since she started Pre-K.

With Phoenix's mentally disabled son we had issues in school because they kept wanting to "main stream" him. He would get frustrated because he could out comprehend a got frustrated. They insisted he went to the local vocational tech school to learn a trade. We said it was a bad idea and so they being "smarter" than we are signed him up in an automotive class where he drove a car through the double glass people doors at the school. Since the teacher had told the "group" to move the car from the shop the teach got let go for "letting him drive". No fair to the teacher. Oh and to top it all off they adjusted his grades so he graduated with "honors" which he tells everyone. The recruiter would not stop calling till we explained he had "special" honors. They might think they are helping but they create all kinds of secondary issues. A friend helped him get his driver's license and now he's mad I won't let him drive my vehicles or get him a car of his own.

I remember the threat of the principles paddle "The Board of Education" and the knowledge that whatever discipline I received at school would be minor to my father's.

Well off to work

Mornin' ladies and any that follow ~~~

Sending strength your way Ava. I sure wouldn't have the patience for that. OH! forgot to welcome Irmi back so "Hi Irmi!".

Well reservation #1 for 2016 is made for the weekend of April 8th thru 10th. Been counting the days (180 for IL state parks) Might be cold and may not be de-winterized yet (but ya never know with an El Nino winter predicted). Wouldn't be the first time I camped there still winterized.

Not a whole lot going on here today. Finally finished all the laundry from Colt and packed away for the winter. Need to get to the storage place and pay even tho it's still at the dealers. Then off to my favorite store (Farm & Fleet) just because I wanna :D

Have a good day everyone and stay safe on the roads.

AVA, between your bad day and the one of AZUSATEACH, it really reminded me why I left K-12 teaching many decades ago for the world of training in business and industry, and teaching college students part-time. Dealing with kids was bad enough, but when you had to deal with non-supporting administration, it was just not worthwhile. And the reason why I have stayed at the college I teach at for 26 years is that they do support me, AND they put rules for student communication behavior into every single syllabi--"Personal integrity, professional attitude, and conduct, especially a respect for a diversity of viewpoints, is expected in this class and in professional workplaces." And if a student behaves unprofessionally in a classroom or in communication with the instructor or other students online, they can be removed from class.

And the best part is that I don't have to deal with parents because my students are adults.

I made it to near Austin, TX. Lots of rain to drive through yesterday and today, but it looks as if I finally made it through the worst of it--even a few peeks of sun here. It is cold and windy, however, and the fields are really full of water. I guess if I wanted to live in Texas, it would have to be on a hill. Plus, I am reminded of a young former co-worker (and friend of my younger son when he briefly lived in Dallas) who died when he went out kayaking in flood waters in Dallas about 18 years ago. No one should walk, swim, or boat in flood waters!! He left a wife and two young kids. Sad.

Good afternoon.
Left house at 9:30 AM to drive to Guntersville to meet Wendy and Anita for lunch. It was the bright spot in an otherwise dray rainy day. Just got home. Had a good time as well as a good lunch. We took Anita up to the state park after lunch. Wanted to showAnita more of the lake but so rainy/foggy a little hard for her to get a feel for just how large the lake is. Driving by the campground we saw a dozen or so young deer. Had to stop twice for ones just standing in the road - did not appear to have any fear of vehicles, which may be their demise at some point. Also made a quick stop at little museum in town. I did take my camera but when got it out discovered battery dead, sorry no photos.

Time to get back to work on antique mall stuff.

There is a rumor that there might not be any rain tomorrow. If the sun shows itself, it will be the first time in 9 days. I'm ready; need some sunshine to rev up a little energy.

Just saw that Anita got one photo posted in gtg group thread.

Sarah, glad you, Wendy and Anita got to have your GTG. Hope you miss all this rain but it's not looking good. We got about 2 inches but there are places in town that are flooded and probably in Lafayette too. The Omelet Festival is this weekend but I can't see that there was much going on today. Tomorrow afternoon is when they cook the omelet. Maybe the rain will be out of here by then.

I had a quart zip lock bag of frozen chicken tenders that my son gave me. I don't know why he froze so many together. I wanted to cook them using the cranberry chicken recipe but I didn't have any Catalina dressing and I wasn't going to town. I decided to use some Peach Salsa I bought to see what it's like. I didn't like the salsa but it was ok in the recipe. The dressing would have been better but I got all that chicken cooked and out of the freezer.

I could think of places I wanted to go since the roads were flooded and I could't. I'm glad I got all my errands done yesterday.
