To answer the question as to why many of us use electrical appliances is easy....usually your site payment includes electric and if your use your range and oven you're using your own propane..so it's cheaper in the long run to use your electric appliances if you have them! I have a coffeemaker (but have a old stove top packed in too) , crockpot, electric frypan and the ice maker. Love the ice maker and when it dies will certainly have another in quick order. We do a lot of our cooking outside...but we're not full timers either.

I'll second the thoughts on slow cookers and that arranging/stocking the kitchen is a very personal thing driven by your habits and preferences. Well, of course, and available storage room!

Here's one thing I put in our 5er before we hit the road - a drop-down spice rack. Love it.

Where did you get the dropdown spice rack? I have never seen one of those, but it looks as if you can tuck things in behind and below. Good for us short folks also. I have decided I do have to have all of my spices.

I was afraid someone would ask where I got it! Actually, it was T.J. Maxx, believe it or not. Their kitchen items rotated - different items all the time.

You can't really put things underneath the rack because of the way it drops down; however, depending on where you place it, you can put things behind it. I like it because the racks are designed so you can fit quite a few jars/containers of various sizes in it.

Yep, it's great for us who need step stools!

I'll put it on my virtual shopping list for now until I get that actual motorhome!! Never being able to see spices means I have to keep pulling up stools.

I have been shopping for my kitchen and have a set of nesting pans, new Corelle, some new knives and utensils I had but had forgotten about, and some plastic measing cups. I also have an inherited 8" cast iron skillet I stripped with oven cleaner and reseasoned that I am excited to use. Now I need a teakettle to boil water for iced tea. The one I have now has a horrible handle and is hard to clean inside.

In addition to what you might decide to take for cooking or eating untensils include plastic zip bags (quart and gallon size) and a roll of aluminum foil . These 2 items are always with us. The bags make good "mixing" bowls and the foil becomes a pot lid or even a serving platter if folded several times. They are disposable too which makes cleaning up easier. i always bring a electric fry pan and a propane grill. I like to cook ourdoors whenever possible. Who wants to be out on an adventure and be stuck inside the rv or trailer cooking. Same with washing dishes. Over the years of camping I have pared down the untensils and try to bring only that which I will really use. And if possible have utensils that do double duty.

I agree with what has been said in that it's really a personal choice...we all cook differently and set up differently We full time or did am in the process of staying still for the unknown time..
I couldn't do without my oven as I like to bake and have some stuff that I'm sure others shake there head at and things I wish I had but we boondock a lot so haven't had them might need to look into it now trying to find a silver lining
I have two and wish some times I had three ....a drop down spice rack that we got at Camping world...it is attached on the outside of the cupboard. the underside of it...and love them

I store my electric appliances in a bin outside... a very small George Forman, a crock pot, a waffle iron, another thing that cooks everything from eggs to cake... inside I have two forks, knives, spoons, one serving spoon, knives sharp ones for cutting vegies and steak, 4 plastic plates and cups, some coffee mugs but only use one... small toaster oven... 4 cup coffee pot (only makes two mugs though) you have to wash out things as you use them... I also have disposable plates and cups... two pots, one huge pot for what ever is stored outside... if you have a place to store things not in your rig leave them and see if you need them later... I also have a hand mixer... battery operated can opener... things you use at home... when I first started I would put a plastic hamper in the kitchen if I used an item I put it in the hamper then I knew what I needed and could pack it in the rig...
Ask Wendy I carry everything but my washer, dryer and dishwasher... if I could get them in I would use them also...

I have this nesting cookware set that I absolutely love. It takes up the horizontal space of a dinner plate. It is quality cookware, the lids are strainers and it comes with plastic lids for each pot, so you can take cooled leftovers from the stove to the fridge.

I have a toaster, coffeemaker, and a drawer full of spatulas, spoons, whisks & other stuff. Corelle dinnerware, some silverware.
Plastic glasses.

I have way too many pots and pans, but since I have the space ..... Maybe one of these days I'll get around to "downsizing" . It took 4 years to get rid of all my stuff in our storage unit and I don't even do the cooking carold

Parchment paper is indispensible. I lay a sheet on the tray in my microwave/convection oven and I can bake on it for rusticas, cookies, biscuits, etc. I use a French press for coffee so I also bring my coffee grinder and an electric pot to boil the water. George Forman grill, two cast iron fry pans in small and large. Soup/spaghetti pot. Hand held stick mixer. I carry regular plates and bowls and real wine glasses with good stainless. Recently added a magnetic knife/scissor holder to wall next to stove top.

I do not usually eat meat, so my cooking is usually beans, veggies, paninis, pasta, soup. But I also have a propane burner stove for outside however it is rarely used.

ACK you stripped the seasoning off an old cast iron skillet that took years to get right, unless it was rusted it was probably good. Also iron is porous and the toxic cleaner would be absorbed, although I have heard of people cleaning them that way just not sure how you would ever get the oven cleaner out.

There are some good tips on this site for cleaning and care, also lots of various responses below that people have tried, most agree not to use soap and that shortening like Crisco to maintain is better than oil.
