Oh my gosh, Liz ... what a close call for you and such a tragedy for the other woman. Prayers going out for all. I'm so glad you had friends close by to call on in times like this. And I'm so sorry you lost your RV ... you truly are homeless without it. I know those cracked ribs can be so painful ... but I'm glad you and Simba are OK otherwise. I hope Bandit can be coaxed back into the open. You must be so worried.

Here's the newspaper story on the accident: http://www.rockportpilot.com/articles/2 ... 008975.txt

I don't like the way they worded it, saying the van broadsided the Malibu, but they did say the lady had ran off the road and over corrected.

Vickie - I guess technically Liz did broadside the car. But I wish it would say that she unavoidably hit the car when the car ended up in her lane.

I wonder if, as a follow up to the story, the newspaper would print something about Bandit being missing.

Looking at the vehicle I can get the feeling of the last vision Liz had before impact. What a horrific accident.

I had also thought of contacting the newspaper (or local news channel) and having them mention about the missing cat so people in the area would be able to recognize Bandit if they saw him around.

From the looks of the car, the woman and baby are lucky to be alive. If there had been a passenger, they most likely would have been killed.

I sure hope they can find Bandit. Hopefully, he didn't go too far yet. I know when Lola went missing in unfamiliar territory, she stuck around until I saw her 2 months later.

I pray that woman and her baby are in much better condition than their car  Thanks for keeping us updated! I like the idea of the follow up news story on Bandit. If it would have been in the original story, I'm betting pet lovers would have been all over that area, searching for him. I was going to call you, Liz, but I don't have your phone number anymore. I lost some numbers when one of my phones went in a lake. How are you doing?

Liz, wishing you a speedy recovery. It sounds to me that despite this disaster, you are looking forward and are planning how to go on with you life. I am grateful that God protected you. I will keep you in my prayers. My prayers will also go to the Mother and her baby. I trust that bandit will stay close to the scene and you will find him. You are right about the sisterhood. It seems that the people on this forum are awesome and truly care for each other. While your rib is mending try not to sneeze, laugh or cough, because you know this is painful. Please do not get discouraged once the full impact of the situation hits you. You sound to me like a woman who has moxy and will go on because of it all. Wishing you the best and want to hear all about your recovery and your new RV. Tatjana

Wow. I picked a fine time to check back in on everyone. Sending prayers your way, Liz, and for the others involved. Really, really hoping you find Bandit soon. I'll have my own furkids join in on that prayer.

You are probably one sore lady today. After seeing the pictures, my first thought was 'Silver Lining saved your life no doubt'. So glad Simba is okay and hoping Bandit shows up very soon, and I also think it should be brought to the attention of the community. My prayers for a speedy recovery and short search for another Roadtrek so you can resume your wonderful lifestyle. Also, prayers for the mother and thankful the baby wasn't hurt..what a miracle!

Oh, Liz - I'm so sorry! I was out of town for a few days and just read about your miracle. Your Guardian Angels were riding along, for sure. Thank GOD for our fellow sisters and their help. Get well and I hope you find that scared to death Bandit. Your inner strength is amazing.

A recommendation from someone who has lost a cat in a strange place:

Wait until dusk when the light is fading. That's when the cat is most likely to be moving around, as that's when they feel safest. When you call the cat's name be sure to sound calm and collected. Any fear in your voice will convey to the cat. If you have a good idea of the area the cat is in, go and sit there on the ground, call the cat, and wait calmly and quietly. Some really stinky fish flavored cat food might help, and some catnip might help. Cats have a very good sense of smell.

Here's hoping for the best......

Bertnspike has really good advice. Bandit will recognize your voice. Shaking cat food in a bowl may also help. So glad Bandit has a microchip.
