Good morning ladies -
I’m not new here since I have been a member for several years (I came over from the ‘other place’ but I normally do not make many entries). However, I do get on line every morning and I so look forward to reading everyone's entries. Then I tell my DP (housemate, Terri) about what Beth is doing or where Liz is or how Soos is feeling or I show her the latest pictures that someone has uploaded.
We have had a 31 foot 2004 Coachmen Santara Class C for the past 5 years and even managed to make a trip to the Florida panhandle and another all the way across to Louisiana. Then in 2008, we had to bring my 90 year-old (at that time) mother from Illinois to Orlando to live with us and that took care of our camping for 3 years. Then last June, we had to place Mother in a nursing home in Illinois where she could be cared for better than we were able to do and there is more of her family there to visit with her.
After that we did do a couple of local weekend trips in the Class C but it just wasn't as comfortable as we would have liked so Terri started looking at Class A's. I have always been a little (well, a lot) paranoid about the size of the 31 foot Class C and she wanted to look at Class A's!! I don't think so! Then last summer Terri was diagnosed with Stage IV Lung Cancer. She got enrolled into a Clinical Trial which was wonderful at reducing the tumors in her lungs but we couldn't travel much since she was on a 2 1/2 week cycle for required tests and doctor visits. Early this month they ran all of the tests and the MRI came back with several small brain tumors. They are going to use stereo tactic radiology next week to hopefully kill those tumors and then get her on another drug that will control both the lung and the brain tumors and prevent any more from developing.
So what has all of this got to do with this RV Forum? We have dedicated ourselves to remaining positive and with living life to the fullest that we can for as long as we can and she wants to go RVing!! So yesterday we signed the final paperwork trading our 2004 Class C for a 2012 Itasca (by Winnebago) 29 foot Class C with all of the amenities that we had hoped for. We pick it up on Friday and are praying that God will grant us a long and able life to enjoy our new pride and joy.
I have named it 'OMG' since every morning when I wake up, I say to myself "OMG, what were we thinking!" Well, we are thinking that we want to enjoy life and even if we only take it out locally, we want to get out and about and enjoy this beautiful country. Who knows, maybe we will be lucky enough to run into some of you wonderful ladies!!!
