Good afternoon all!
I wish I could be in Ocala today to see Sarah's new rig in person and visit with all those there, but-----here's what we did instead of my trying to go there:
My son and daughter-in-law and I went to Sea World last night for the Doobie Brothers Band, Brew, and BBque concert. Unfortunately the Doobies tried to woo us with pieces from their new album, and we were all there to hear their oldies and goodies. It was very disappointing until the crowd stood up to call them back for an encore of their oldies----then all hell broke loose, and we all got a bit of satisfaction!
Following that, we walked to the Orena Bar and Grill and played some pool and some darts. A couple of neat guys and a girlfriend of one of them befriended us at the dart boards (the kids, actually, and put up with Ma!) and somehow or other we ended up going with them to a place called Senior Froggers Disco Club by cab. That was my first, and LAST, disco! The crowd was wall-to-wall, cheek to cheek and butt to butt, the workers blew ear-piercing cop whistles as they tried to make their way through the bodies, doling out freebee colored shots served in what looked like those old wax colored syrup suckies we ate/drank as kids, (I wouldn't touch one of those with a ten-foot pole----who knows what in gawd's name could have been in them!), ear piercing, icky music provided some earthly reason for those up on a stage wielding noodle balloons to dance like total idiots, madly waving arms and legs, screaming, writhing, jumping, (heck, I could be called a pro dancer in my ineptness next to them!) accompanied with flashing lights and lasers (making me feel as if I were having a seizure!) and I could find NO exits in the entire place but the front door we came in through! Talk about a madhouse and a fire trap and an eardrum-rupturing atmosphere, we were in it! I quickly stuffed napkin doo-dads in my ears)
Luckily Melissa was bought a two-foot high red drink served in something akin to a monsterous candelabra, and soon became unable to writhe and have any more fun----none too soon for me! (I think I read those particular drinks contained 6 shots of whatever) Weldon called us a cab, and we came back here by about 1:00 am. Melissa fell into bed, and Goog and I made us a frozen pizza and then retired ourselves. Whew---at least now I can say I have been to a disco!!
We spent the day here on the sofa, watching various movies. I even enjoyed the movies, until, just before I logged on here, the original Bambi came on. Although I was only about 3 or 4 years old when I saw the first few minutes of that with my mother, I instantly recognized the music from the kitchen where I was doing dishes, and began to cry. I quickly turned the channel before the hunter shot little Bambi's mother. My mother had to rush me from the theater back then, as I became hysterical. That was actully the last movie she ever took me to, and the last movie I ever cared to watch until just recently. Sigh----and she thought Disney would be a fun time for me. Poor Mommy!
It's overcast here today, but not too cold. A good day to do laundry, vacuum, and recover from last night!
Life is about learning to dance in the rainHappy travels!
