Wednesday Morning Fasting

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Wednesday Morning Fasting

Postby Nasoosie » Wed Feb 22, 2012 6:24 am

GOOD MORNING ALL!

I am scheduled for a fasting blood test at 7:45 this morning----I had thought it was for 7:15 until I checked my notes, so I've been up and about since 5:30. The dogs are so sleepy in this dark hour, and they have no idea what's up with their deranged mama! Thanks to Pete's suggestion in the ORS chatroom last night, I discovered how to use my cell phone for an alarm clock, as I have none any more! I am proud of myself for learning how to set it, and it actually worked!

It's supposed to get really warm here again, upper 80s by Friday, so it'll be a good weekend for swimming and lounging at the pool.

No coffee for me this morning, which always makes me feel so deprived! Hope some of you stop in and tell us about your day and your plans. Those headed to TX for that HUGE GTG are getting antsy to get moving. I wish you all a safe and happy trip.

Off I go to get stabbed!
Life is about learning to dance in the rain
Happy travels!

Good Morning and Thank You!

Postby txyellowrose » Wed Feb 22, 2012 7:02 am

Good morning, ladies!

Thanks to everyone for such a warm sisterly welcome during my first day in the group! I am having such fun reading all the quotes in the signature lines and, I tell ya what, I may just have found a group of women after my own crazy heart! I do appreciate being made to feel welcome in such a short time.

Today is National Margarita Day, so hoist a glass if you are so inclined. :D

This was one of those mornings I was awake and up before my 6 AM alarm, which is okay because it gives me a bit of alone/quiet time before the day cranks up around here. We have about 10 dump trucks going to the mill down the street and still don't know if we will be weighing them with their loads. Could be a relatively serene day or it could get crazy. It's early yet . . .

Have a groovy day, everyone, and thanks again!

Fasting before bloodwork is tough, but at least you've got it scheduled early. My last one was in the afternoon and I thought I was gonna go nuts. Well, okay, nuttier.

Cheers!

Good Morning Soos and Betty,

Glad you will have that bloodwork done by the time I write this Soos and probably by now having breakfast and you morning coffee. Hopefully maybe it will show something, so they can get down to the bottom of what ails you.

I have to get a cholesterol blood check done shortly. Probalby won't be a heck of a lot different as even with working out at the gym three days week, I still cannot get my weight down. Seems to be stuck on a plateau. But maybe the workouts will help lower the cholesterol. I will probably get it done next week or so, jand I think I am due for my physical too. Gotta check. That way it's all out of my way before I got back to work.

Will be heading for the gym in a little bit here. Seems like it's been forever since we had a class, like last Friday. Monday was a holiday of course, and no class on holidays. Toda is musclle moves, so it will be intense. I"m looking forward to it.

Got all my closets cleaned but one yesterday. Stopped doing that a bit after lunch cause it was nice out and I wanted to take the dogs over to the park for a walk before the weather changed. We were supposed to have had some light rain/snow mix yesterday, but it didn't materialzie till evening almost, then a quick burst around 11 last night and done. just enough to cover the bare sports to turn them white instead of brown. Will probably melt away again today.

Well, looking at the clock and it tells me I had better get moving here. See you all later.

Good Morning everyone... oh we had such a nice visit from Wendy yesterday... wish she could have stayed... but she is headed for ALabama today...
I got up in the night maybe 3 or so was so stiff I could not turn over in bed so got up and took some tylenol boost... then played on the computer for an hour before I went back to bed...
I will do laundry after I wake up it may take a bit as it always does... but it is hot and tastes good... Wendy took Irmi and me to the store and I got a few things... all set now for a bit...
My daughter Margie comes today well tonight... her plane comes in at 7:45 so I do not look for her until maybe 10:30 or 11 depends on how fast she gets her car and luggage...
I took my shower last night so I could have every bit of clothing to wash today...
Hope Soos has her coffee by now and is happy as a clam...
take care ladies...

Good morning all, it is sunny and supposed to be near 70 today and tomorrow! I think our Easter flowers will bloom before the week is over. So far our winter has been very mild,no ice and only snow a couple of times that was pretty much just a dusting. We may be sorry this summer when the bugs carry us away.

Soos, for fasting blood work I've always been told you can have water and black coffee or do you not like your coffee black? Glad to hear you learned to use your phone as an alarm clock, next thing we know you'll have an iPhone and asking Siri to send a text message for you   I hope they find out what is causing your stomach problems, I've certainly had no luck so I just try to watch what I eat and avoid raw veggies and spicy foods, both of which I love of course. I blame mine on the Actonel I took for a short time several years ago which is similar to Fosamax for bones, I've had problems since.

Sue between your house work and the gym I would think you would be loosing. Look at your diet, do you eat fresh fruits an a lot veggies or do you eat processed foods, lunch meats and canned products. If you eat frozen veggies, make sure you buy the ones without sauces already added. Read labels, if it has a string of ingredients it isn't real food it is a food like item. It's sad but true most of what is for sale in the supermarkets (especially if you buy from the inside aisles) is not real food. Many items that sound healthy like those little packets of oatmeal are loaded with sugar and other ingredients that make them not healthy at all. It is really sad but you have to turn into a food detective to eat well these days.

My favorite place to shop in the grocery store is the produce section - I love fresh fruits and veggies. Now if I could just get the rest of my diet under control. For example, I had popcorn shrimp, fries and hushpuppies last night - totally undid my healthy breakfast and lunch. Oh well.

I'm wearing sandals today - it's supposed to be well into the 70s and I think near 80 today. But by Saturday, the high is only supposed to be 60. Texas winter.

17 more sleeps until I leave for Caprock Canyon. That also means 16 more sleeps until the end of my term. I do love online classes though. I can work on them pretty much on my time.

I woke up with a headache, probably from not enough sleep. I seldom go to sleep before 1:00 and I was awake sometime early this morning for a while. I never did get up to see what time it was.

Sue, I have always heard that you might gain 5 pounds when you start exercising because muscles weigh more than fat. That sounds good, huh. :D I need to start walking. Will have to get my DH to give me a ride down the road a ways on the 4-wheeler so the cats don't follow me. I don't want them on the road and if I leave from here it looks like a parade. I have tried feeding them behind the house to get a way but they are like blood hounds, they track me.

Yesterday was the day to go to Walmart. Abbeville looked like a ghost town because most places were closed for Mardi Gras. I wandered around for an hour and still managed to forget things. I want to try a mexican casserole in the slow cooker. Most stores have corn tortillas in the cold case but all I could find was with the bread. I tried one when I got home and it isn't very good. Might try frying one to see if that helps them. They are really tasteless.

I combine them when 2 happen - so don't worry about it. But sometimes I'm late in the day or even days later (when on the road) before the combining happens. And sometimes you can't avoid 2 (or even 3) morning threads - as people post them at the same time.

Oh, and it could be very dangerous that I learned it's National Margarita Day - I mean that kind of means, we have to have one, right? (It's hard to tell me any day isn't a good day for a margarita ;) )

No, no, no!!!! (we get that all the time on the Weightwatchers boards  )

Actually, muscle and fat weigh the same - a pound is a pound; however, muscle is denser than fat so a given volume of muscle will weigh more than the same volume of fat.

Usually a weight gain when starting exercising is from muscles retaining fluids as they are worked.
