How to make tequila

Postby asirimarco » Sat Feb 11, 2012 11:56 am

We visited a small family owned tequila plant the other day and watched the first step in processing tequila. A fun day and interesting.
Also a beautiful sunset here in Mazatlan.

loved those posts and pictures all about the tequila, 7 years is a long time to wait for the plant to grow, wonder how long the tequila sits in the barrel
to age.

Awesome info on how to make Tequila! Thanks for sharing. And of course as always I loved the pics.

You should do a picture book on the scenery and travels in MX!!

I flew into Guadalajara in 1997 for a conference, and I remember seeing field after field of these strange blue-gray plants from the air. Turned out they were agave plants. The plants have enormous spiked leaves, and those things in the photos are the cores. Really neat.

Unfortunately, I did not get a chance to see a tequila distillery, but they did serve us a lot of very fine tequilla, which is mostly sipped from tiny cups with no mixer. (We obliged our hosts and drank it that way.) I'd like to go back becuase it is a terrific city, but I think I will skip the tequilla next time or at least drink it mixed in something.
