As most of you know Texas has been in extreme drought status for some time. Well It starting raining a couple of weeks ago and won't stop... If I make one of these "rain coats" it probably won't rain the rest of the year

Are you planning on using your "raincoat" when running the generator? Why I'm asking is the generator may get hot enough to melt the plastic.

Yes, if I have to. First time or so, I'd check it out after a time. But those holes on the ends are around 5" - 6" square, and I just today drilled 5 holes in each of the side for added ventilation.

Heck, I'm lucky I asked the question cuz I had plans to run it under the trailer. I hear that's a great way to possibly wake up dead.

The raincoat looks like a clever idea; thoughts of running it under trailer not so good.

I think the generator is designed for outside use. Check the manual (aka idiot sheet) and see what it says about running it outside in the rain. Or e-mail Honda and ask them about that. I have had my genny running as I was driving down the highway in rain. I'd think twice before I tried running it covered. It will get really, really hot and I am thinking it will melt that raincoat.

Just me thinking with my fingers!!! It has to have a lot of space to be rid of the exhaust fumes or you will again wake up dead. That's why Gen-turi has this gizmo to move the exhaust above the RV's and out of possible harm to folks.

You could use a beach umbrealla and it would have plenty of room to "breathe". So put a piece of pvc pipe on the side of that generator large enough to slide an umbrealla in.

Of course you might have to stand out in the rain too, telling that generator to breathe in, breathe out, breathe in, breathe out. Oh that's right it is red not blond!!

In the truck camper section on RV.net, a number of the people have made either a wooden box or sheet metal box for their generators. These boxes are vented for the generator. I have not seen a plastic one. Most of the boxes are attached permanently to the camper and can be used in all weather. Maybe rethink the plastic? Linda
