First Friday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

First Friday

Postby Colliemom » Fri Feb 03, 2012 8:15 am

Good Morning everyone,

Happy Friday. Into the first weekend of February already. And yes, Phil did see his shadow, so somebody, someplace is going to get more wnter. Maybe you people down south, as you seem to be getting all the moisture. We are having a mild weather pattern up here and supposed to last most of next week too. I know what will happen. When we are ready for spring, the weather will get crappy like last year and stay cool and wet till July  No, let's not appease the weather gods, it will be nice and sunny and warm.

Megan, I love you pen and white sign thing. I have often wished I could make sign smetimes. Like "Back Off" for those idiots who insist on drivng 5 feet behind you in a 55 speed zone. Oh well, that's human nature I guess.

Had a good day here yesterday. Took that ride to Indian River and talked with the Park Supervisor for about an hour and a half. We talked about Otsego and some of the former staff, one of whom is getting married this July. And how it's been fun watching the kids, fresh out of high school, start work at the park, come back through their college years, get jobs, get married, have kids etc. And everybody's still friends yet. Then we talked about her park, her hopes and dreams and plans for this year. Her staffing, schedules etc. It is a nice drive up there, 38 miles, through some scenic country and rollling hills, forests etc. One of my favorite drives along I-75. I've been debating this for awhile you know, and have decided that I am going to go for it. Haven't told her yet, but will on Monday. And then will inform the Supervisor at Otsego that I am not coming back. I have worked at Otsego for 15 years, 12 of them under a really great supervisor who has done tremendous things for that park. I think it has been improved pretty much as far as it's going to go. There are some things on the planning board yet, but overall, it's going good. The last couple of years, it has been kind of "same old" and I have been yearning for a change of scenery and some new challenges. So I think this will be a good fit and good timie to make the change. A time to get used to a new area, new people, new surroundings etc. I'm excited just thinking about it.

So with that debate setteled, I now have to work on getting a better more gas effficient vehicle. I think too, that I am going to back away from the camping scene for a couple of years. With that daily drive, I am not going to feel like coming home and then turning around and heading back again to camp for a couple of days, head home and the next morning go back again. No, I think I will just let the summer flow and do other things, like research RVs for when I retire in a couple of years. Maybe if I sell this truck and trailer and get a smaller vehicle like a Ford Escape or Flex, I might look for a small MH to head out west in, one that i can camp and drive and use for sightseeing etc., I'm not a fan of parking the TT and just let it sit there and do nothing. Tires wear down from being in the same spot, roof caulk dries out, the whole thing just deteriorates. It's already three years old and in great shape. So...... I'm not 100% finalized on that aspect of things yet. Got to do research. I won't be starting work till end of April/First week of May anyway.

Gym day today. Stop at Hobby Lobby. Ready to put my scrapbook back together and can't find the screw parts for the metal posts that hold the thing together anywhere. And I know I set them on the table here with the extra stuff till I was done. One of those put it in a safe place so I can find it deals  NOT!

Well, I've been blabbering long enough. Time to get off to the tub and get cleaned up for gym. Have a wonderful day all.

Sue, that sounds like a good plan. Change is certainly good for the body and soul, and if for some reason it does not work out...so be it...just make another change. In these parts, 38 miles each way would be an easy commute! Most people do 100 miles round trip every day. What will you do with the dogs?? Can you take them with you or do you have someone to let them out? I have a dog door but I just can't let those rascals in and out at will because they would bark all day and disturb the neighbors so I keep them in. I am close enough from work now so that I can get home at lunch, let them out, turn around and go back. When I worked at a greater distance, I had to have someone come in to attend to the dogs.

Good luck and keep us informed of your life plans!

Good Morning Sue and Carol... decisions made are good... and taking the time to make them is also good... I hope it works out well Sue job changes can be interesting for sure...
It is cloudy here this morning and humid... I was a total bum yesterday read most of the day went outside in the late afternoon and read out there also... I have been lax at wearing my sun glasses and got a small burn on my eyeball so let it rest a day and now it is much better... remember to wear those sunglasses in the sun!!
I had an a ha moment the other day... I have been reading all of the tips given to Liz for her little Simba and it never dawned on me that I could use a water bottle for Shadow's barking at people when the come or leave... I started using it and he is doing much better... he does not like water anyway... glad my brain clicked in...
My daughter was not released from physical therapy... they gave her another month... I am glad for that... then she will have the thyroid surgery and be finished for now... sometimes I wish I were closer so I could see her but I could not do much to help so would be in the way...
Not sure what today will bring but know it will be pleasant...
Take care everyone and make plans

Beautiful almost-spring day in lower Michigan. At least it is sunny and is around 40, which is wonderful, especially considering that no rain or snow is due for at least a week.

Taking the opportunity to visit a couple of motorhome dealers tomorrow.

Sue, would you be able to bring your TT with you to the new place and stay in that for a couple days at a time while you are working? That would save gas money going back and forth. And the dogs would be nearby to take out during the day. Just a thought...

Sunny and low 70's here today! Gotta work later on but have tomorrow off, so I think I will take my bike to Lake Mirimar and go riding around there. It is 5 miles all around the lake.

Yesterday my manager told me that Phil saw his shadow and there would be 6 more weeks of winter. I told her that if this is "winter", I'm OK with that!

Have a good one!

Good afternoon

Sue - Seems you have worked out a sound plan. Good luck with it.

We have more rain moving back in later today that will linger all weekend. At least it is not too cold and the buttercups have started blooming. Hope that pesky little groundhog is wrong about 6 more weeks of winter.

It has been a very frustrating week trying to get the probate process going for sister's will. I'm so tired of dealing with lawyers, banks, etc. Played my last card yesterday to work something out other than me having to serve as administrator. (Named executor died many years ago, trying to get niece appointed but having major issues with bond and bank.) Will probably take a few days to find out if this last attempt will work. Today would have been my sister's 67 birthday - a hard day for me and the girls.

Other than a bad case of cabin fever, older niece is doing well but in for long recovery time from spinal surgery last month. She will be in brace for a couple of months and physical activities are very limited.

I'm looking forward to returning to FL later this month to pick up my RV. Still leery about trying this new adventure, but no buyers remorse so I'm taking that as a good sign. Been reading all the old posts under maintenance thread to learn what I can. You ladies sure have offered some good info there. Thanks.

Have a great day.

Red Friday, ladies!
Are you wearing red today in support of recognizing that heart disease in women is our biggest killer?
1 in 31 women will be diagnosed with cancer, 1 in 3 will have heart disease!
