Welcome Terri. I too am solo and tow an 18ft. TT around during the summer on my days off from work. So like you, my campgrounds are limited to where I can go due to distance and time. But I make the most of what I can. Fortunately I live in a part of Northern Michigan were there are a number of State Parks within an hours drive of me, so I do have a number of choices, but there are some that I don't reeally care for, so I tend to stay in the same ones mostly.

You will get used to that trailer being behind you and if you ever get too comfortable, that's bad. That's when a person becomes compliant. So a bit of nervousness is good. Happy traills.

Welcome Terry, sorry to hear about you loss. But you are starting a a new adventure even if it's just step by step. I did the same thing a few years after my dad passed away (mom has been gone since 95') and haven't regretted it. Always had kind of a hankering to try the RV thing. So I bought myself an 18ft. trailer and off I went with my two collies. I did the first trip at the State Park where I work, so if I had a problem, at least I knew I had some help from my co workers the first trip. But other than having an issue with the awning, I pulled it all off perfectly. Since then i have branched out farther from home, but only for a couple of nights at a time due to working summers. I even got brave enought to cross the Mackinac Bridge here in Michigan and head up to a couple of State Parks in the U.P. Now I know I can do that.

But even with two summers of dragging that thing around, I still get nervous and think about the what if's. But my feeling is that if you get too comfortable with towing or even driving your rig, that's when you get complacent and things can happen.

So go, have fun, worry, relax, ask questions, cry, rant, rave or whatever. We will be here for you.

Welcome Terri. We all love to talk and share pictures. Once you get the hang of camping, you will find a freedom you won't find anyplace else.
