Last January Day of 2012

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Last January Day of 2012

Postby Colliemom » Tue Jan 31, 2012 8:03 am

Good Morning everyone,

Where are all the early birds these days. When everybody was gathered for the FL GTG, there were others who were making early morning posts. Are you sleeping in these days?

Bowl of cereal is down the hatch here this mornng and will have a glass of OJ in a bit. This is take Tessa to the vet morning to find out what's going on with her hacking and choking stuff. Sent an email to the lady I got her from and she said it sounds like kennel cough to her, how she could pick that up remains a mystery to me. But it could be other things too. So hopefully our wonderful vet will get down to the bottom of it. Ths poor baby always seems to be getting something. She's had her share of bladder infections and after she was spayed about three years ago, she got another infection and I almost lost her. So only had one litter of pups in her life cause one of her ovaries was way to small to accept breeding and about half the litter died of a bacterial infection of some knd. So she's never been an overly healthy dog per say, when you look at the history. She's been living with me for about three of four years now. The lady I got her from shows collies and Tessa was her kennels first Champion, so she has a deep fondness for her. The only reason she didn't keep her was because she needed to make room in her kennel for another up anc coming prospect and she was also expecting a baby herself, or she would have made her a house dog. So I broght her to live with me cause she knows that Tessa would have a good home with somebody she knows. Sassy, her mother on the other hand is 10 years old and a picture of perfect health.

Alice, I envy you and your ability to ride your bike to and from wherever you go. Be careful out there. I would love to ride a bike to and from work here as it's only 3 miles. But there isn't any road shoulder down this way and the highway is travelled by both semis and regular vehicles, barreling down that road at 55 or better (nobody pays attention to speeed limits) so to ride a bike out there is very risky. Nope, will drive the distance. There's been talk of putting in a bike trail on the snowmoible trail that runs alongside the highway, but that is future. First negotiations have to be done with the railroad that owns the right of way about that. Permission was given a number of years ago to run the snowmobile trail alongside, but not for any other recreational use.

Paulette, hope Allstate gives you a better rating for your insurance. I'm with AAA and getting disgusted with them, so am planning on going back to State Farm down the line here when my home owners insurance expires in August. Or I might swtich before as my truck and trailer insurance are due the end of next month. AAA has gotten to the point where they won't take online payments from a third party here, so I have to route my payments through my local office.

Well, I want to go wash my hair, so had better get moving. Took a bath last night and one doesn't wash hair when one takes a bath. Tessa and I have to leave in about an hour, so time is moving along here. Have a wonderful, safe and enjoyable day all.

I survived the bike ride and so far, this morning no evil after effects. I am blessed to live where bike riding is possible. When out in the rv, some places, I wonder why I even bring the bike along as there is no place out of the park that I can get to without getting run over. Feels like playing Frogger. I love going to state parks but often they are off of roads that are not so bicycle friendly.

I don't bike ride to "just ride"...I'm too non motivated for that. I have to have an errand, a store, or some goal in mind other than the bike ride itself. I wish I could get more motivated. I plugged in my 24 mile ride yesterday to www.myfitnesspal.com and discovered if I did that everyday, for five weeks and kept my calorie count to 1200.. I could lose ten pounds in five weeks. Normally, at 1200 calories, I only lose a pound a week.

One evening at a gtg campfire is about 1200 calories with my total lack of food control. When I walk into a chinese buffet.. I feel that I have died and gone to food heaven.

Today, a six mile ride and hopefully, tomorrow.. repeat the 24 mile ride for my doctor's appointment. Rain is being forecasted for tomorrow but that changes minute by minute. I have bicycle rain gear. I don't mind the rain so much except my brakes don't work when wet. Huge downside to the rain thing.

May everyone have a great day!

Morning...Allstate was able to both lower my rates and increase my liability! I'm kinda happy because it is so much easier than switching all policies over to someone else!

Rain is moving into the area, but temps are supposed to be in the 60's.

Have to go birthday present shopping today. My bff's birthday is the 6th. I have no idea what I'm getting for her, but just know I'll find the right thing out there! And no, I won't be out on my bike either!

Hope everyone has a wonderful day!

Raining here. Driving to work was fun - NOT! And now it's supposed to rain over the weekend. After I paid for the full weekend to camp at a NFS campground north of the big city.

I just got the trailer out of the shop getting the bearings repacked and the brakes cleaned, and I wanted to see how it tows now. Plus I had a new faucet installed in the bathroom and wanted to see if that stops the trailer flooding when taking a shower. Of course as small as the Land Dinghy is, it only takes a cup of water to flood

GOOD MORNING ALL!

Speaking of the last day of January, remember that tomorrow is a RABBITS day again. Didn't we just have one of those a heartbeat ago?

Dinah got a clean bill of health from the wonderful vet at the Osceola Animal Clinic yesterday afternoon. She had her incision examined, her temperature taken, her heart listened to, her eyes, ears, nose and throat looked into and down, got weighed again----43.5 pounds---oohed and aahhhhed over by the ladies working there, sample of poop clean of parasites, and ready to take it easy for another few days until more healing has occurred. The vet who looked at her is a neat older guy who has dealt with poochies all his life, I could tell-----he knew exactly how to handle her, and said she was a rarity in these parts, as she appears to be a show-dog caliber Foxhound. He said they are usualy mixes in these parts, and nowhere near as nicely configured and marked as she is. They scanned her for a chip, but none to be found. Best of all, this was all done gratis as she is an adoptee! I paid for three months' supply of the newest heartworm, flea, mosquito, tick, intestinal parasite meds----brand new all-in-one----no need for any of that stuf between the shoulder blades any more. Very expensive, however---85 bucks for three months. Oh well----she's worth it!

I bought a takeoff the Gentle Leader as they were out of her size in that brand----I got a Holt head collar, and she so hates it! I will put it on her for just a few minutes at a time until she gets used to it. Today I may let her loose for a short while, to see if she will perhaps walk with me instead of the mad dashing about that she did the other day when she got free. She now sits on command, and we are working on COME!

I have been up since about 7:00, paying bills out here in the trailer using Melissa's Verizon WiMi, or whatever it is. I even have a tad of money left over for gas and food for a while! I didn't get my truck washed yesterday, so perhaps I will do that today. I am cooking rice-a-roni and chicken for everybody tonight when Melissa's parents get back from their visit with friends at Disney.

Happy to hear that you got what you wanted, Paulette, for insurance!

Alice you will be a bean pole when next I see you with al of this peddaling!

Se, be sure to update us on Tessa when you know more. I have my fingers crossed that it will be an easy cure.

Sandersmr, Welcome to the forum, and I hope you learn how to post some pics of your rig soon! We love to see what people are camping/living in!

Have a wonderful day doing something satisfying and fun! Remember RABBITS tomorrow!

Good morning All

Great news for Dinaha; hope same follows for Tessa later today.

Alice: You are an inspiration with all that biking.

Nice here today but rain coming back tomorrow. Looks as if our weather choices are colder and dry or warmer and wet. There are some signs of spring showing - buttercups almost ready to bloom.

I'm having a devil of a time focusing on what I need to be doing here. My new RV is at the dealer in FL; shooting for picking it up in late Feb. In the meantime, this crazy woman has taken over my house and is spending money too fast on "basic" necessities for new RV. Have got to find place to park her when not in use as she cannot live on this steep hill with me. Have posted a question under maintenance section - the first of many, I'm sure. Looking into insurance too.

Am also trying to work out some alternatives for probate on sister's will as lawyers have not been able to get niece bonded and I do not want that responsibility, especially now.

Wishing all a great day.

Good morning everyone, Soos I was thinking Dinah was maybe a beagle mixed with something larger. Really unusal they know exactly what she is. Sarah, look into Progressive for ins. as it includes road service, not that you should need it with a new unit! Dont forget when we go down to nans, you and me must be able to fit in my car!!! This spring weather is really making me get spring fever early, like Sarah said rain back tomorrow. Thinking along those lines, a trip to the library is on tap for today! Everyone have a safe and most of all FUN day. Wendy

Soos, I looked up American Foxhounds. I don't know a lot about dogs but she looks like a good example of that breed. One of the things they say about them is that if they find an interesting scent they might take off. Be careful where you let her loose and be sure she has an ID. They sound like nice dogs. Great that she is in good health.

It's up to 76 today but think we might get some more rain.

It was just New Years and already the end of January. Time flies when your are going down hill. ;)
