Another Texas Newbie

Come on in and say hello.

Another Texas Newbie

Postby Sandersmr » Mon Jan 30, 2012 9:42 am

Hi! I'm Maggie from around Houston. I have a little (read microscopic tiny) trailer - a 16BH from Sportsmen Classic. If my DBF goes with me, it's barely big enough to hold the 2 of us plus my 2 furbabies, Jasmine and Oscar. I have done some solo camping and we go together when he's not working.

I'm still gainfully (at least this week) employed full time so it's primarily weekends for me, although I do have a week long trip planned for Spring Break in March. Yes, I decided to go back to school for a second degree after almost 30 years in the workforce. I will finish up in July - wheeeeeeeeeeee! Until then, weekends are about the limit.

I will post pictures of my little set-up and my pups in the appropriate sections as time permits.

Hi and Welcome, Maggie. Lots of us in TX right now - would be great if we could meet. If you could get a little extra time off - check our gtg (get together) room as we have one coming up the first week of March. Would love if you could join us for any part of the week!

Small is good - my Class C is only marginally bigger than your rig - as once you cut off the engine area and front seats, my living space is much less - although the overcab area does help me with storage.

Glad to have you with us. Hope to meet you soon.

Welcome Maggie, you will find a full range of sizes of RV's on this forum and a very diverse group of women too, keeping it interesting. Just tell us of your excursions and always include pics...

Welcome Maggie from the left coast! Hope you can make the Tx GTG, it's sure shaping up to be a fantastic one. Wish I could be there, but am stuck here until later in the summer for various reasons. If you can't make that one, there are quite a few of the ladies bouncing around all over the great state of Tx and you could possibly meet up with one or more of them for a quick w/e get away.

Thanks for all the welcomes. Unfortunately, I have reservations for Caprock Canyon SP the week of the 3/12. So I won't be making the TX GTG. I do hope to make some in the future. I like the Port A area and it sounds like it will be a good time.

Was hoping that would be a place I could head after the gtg on the way to NM, but just looked at the map - and too far north, I believe. Looks like a great place. I'll have to mark it down for future visits.

Liz and Birdie are bouncing around TX right now (at Choke Canyon) and I'm down in the Port A area till after the gtg - others are in the Hill region - so if you can get away a weekend, there's a chance you could cause a little gtg where ever you go :)

Beth - if you wanted to hit I40, Caprock would be on the way :) Seriously, I had to wait until I had a week to spend to travel that far and still be in the state.

Hi Maggie, Glad you are here. I also have what I like to call a cozy travel trailer. The good thing about a small trailer is it is easy to haul. Hope you enjoy the group.

Adding another welcome. Lots of opportunities to meet other members as our TX list is growing rapidly.
Don't forget to check the member's map under the General section. Let Mitch know if you want to be included. Some of the members passing by might contact you for a quick cup of coffee.
