You've heard this before ...

... but I'm heading back to Salt Lake tomorrow to get my house ready to go on the market. This is the time for me to let go of Jim's house (it never really has been mine) and begin the next phase of my life. I'm ready to set that house free so someone else can make new memories in it.

I had planned to list it in April, but my realtor tells me there are more buyers than homes on the market right now. So I'm going to push hard and get it ready to show in three weeks. Please wish me energy, focus and luck ladies. Once the house is staged and ready to go, I'll turn the key over to the realtor and leave until it sells.

I got an email from Bryce Canyon NP ... I may be doing a volunteer gig there this summer. They're checking my references right now. One condition of going may be that I'd need a week or so off when my house sells to clear out the remainder of my furnishings. I hope that's all done before the summer season starts.

I cleared my house out before I hit the road. It finally closed on 1/13. Didn't have to do a thing; just sign on the dotted line. Good luck. Hope it sells quickly.

Nice to hear houses are selling so well. That means you can up your price a little.

I had a realtor stop by last weekend. She is someone I used to work with so I trust her. She said even condos were selling fairly quickly. I am working on my basement but still have a ways to go, so maybe will list it Feb 15 or March 1. I am worried it won't sell fast enough, but also worried it won't sell too fast. I still have to work until mid-June. She gave me a listing price that was a little higher than I expected.

Keep us updated on how your place is selling and how much interest there is.

Oh, and if everything goes well, I will be out visiting Bryce next September!!

Congrats Joan on your closing. I hope I'm as lucky. I'll have to go back and clear out the last of the staged furniture before closing. I hear it's easier to sell a house with furniture in it.

Sheila, maybe what is going on right now is what economists call "pent-up demand." People may be feeling more confident about buying. And Bryce won't be hot ... the park is at about 8,000 feet. Temps are generally in the 80s. I'm looking forward to learning all about the geology and history of the area.

..

I hope your next stage in life is the best ever, or at least somewhere near the top!
You'll "let go", but you won't fall far. I know you won't.
Glad you made a decision that feels just right for you.
Scary, ain't it?

Good luck, Janice. Another friend of mine just got his house on the market before leaving for FL the end of the year and has it sold. Hope yours goes quickly, as well. I also just was talking to two couples I'm friends with and both are going to be working at (or near) Bryce this summer. I'll have to pass along all the info if you're there, too. I met them at a workamping job a couple years ago - and saw them a couple weeks ago. I think they're working a for-profit near Bryce, but we didn't go into details. Will see them again in the next couple weeks, and can find out.

Crossing my fingers for you on both. Bryce is a place I'd like to work, also.
