Wacky Weather Monday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Wacky Weather Monday

Good Morning all,

What a way to start the day. Tessa woke me up around 4 a.m.. Thought she wanted to go out. Nope. Maybe it was just a case of wanting to get in bed with me and curl up, or so I thought. While I was awake I got up and got myself a drink of water, gave her a boost up on the bed and was just going to curl up for a long winter's nap, when there was a bright flash of lightning and a bang of thunder  , followed by Sassy flying into the bedroom and wanting up on the bed too. Found out why Tessa wanted up on bed. She's afraid of storms and that's exactly what we were having :o This is January for heaven's sake. It's winter. There's a foot of snow on the ground. It's supposed to be snowing, not doing spring thunderstorms. All I can say is, this is one crazy winter.

And I hope our sisters in the south are faring okay, as there is some severe weather moving around down there as well. Thought about Wendy (Readytogo) when I was up around 4:30, as the weather channel was tracking a tornado that was heading in her direction. So maybe she had an early start to her morning too.

As of this moment, the country busses have not announced that they aren't running, so gym class is still on. However, every school in the northern lower and most of the eastern U.P. have closed yet again. Some I have not seen closed in a long time. Even colleges are either closed or delaying. I know the parents of school kids in this area are getting a bit weary of this and I think the kids are too. They have only had something like 10 days of school this month so far due to weather related closures and one scheduled teacher inservice day. I don't know if they have used up all their snow days yet or not, but at this rate, they will be going all summer if it doesn't stop.

So, if between now and 9:30, the county busses don't call it quits, I will be heading for gym class and then to the store to pick up a few things from this week's sales. Probably won't be doing any doggie walks today due to icy roads. Too bad, cause with the recent snowfalls we have had, they were just getting nice for walking and I took my stablicers off my boots for the first time. But temps are supposed to drop this afternoon and we may have an inch or two of snow tonight followed by about 1-3 tomorrow. They will cover up the ice underneath.

Well, sounds like Soos has herself another furry companion. Good going Soos. I know what you mean about not wanting to see the other dogs up for adoption. I'm the same way every time I see a collie up for adoption in the collie rescue website or a new bunch of collie pups. As is, I turned Maize down for financial reasons among other things too, this past fall. But in her case it worked out great as she is now a greeter dog at a Assisted LIving home along with her doggie companion. Her new owners parents reside at this place and the dogs go there every day to visit and roam among the residents. Got to thinking about FL's animal policies too. There's something wrong when the state declares squirrels and other animals off limits to be killed and they are over popuulaitng the place, carrying who knows what kind of disease or even rabies and yet the don't give the dogs or cats a fighting chance to see if somebody will adopt them and let them live out a happy life

Well, enough rambling about animals and weather. Time to go on to other things. Have a great day all.

Yes Sue, Ive been up since about 3:30. After the weather went thru I stayed up off and on as the damage reports came in. And checked in with both my kids and families. There is a lot of damage only starting a mile or so from me. I found a couple of my roofing shingles in the yard but can't see where they came from. So it feels like midday to me, might go out and get a biscuit in awhile if i can go in the other direction. Everyone have a safe and a fun day today. Wendy

Good Morning Sue and Wendy... glad the storms missed you... it must be very upsetting to have them start again and so early...
We will have a sunny day or maybe a few clouds here in Ocala... My daughter Margie called yesterday and she is coming down to visit the last of Feb... oh how nice that will be...
My son Chuck called from Miami on his way back from Columbia... my grandson Mark will be there for at least another week... Chuck was running low on insulin so had to be safe and come home... he will go back again at a later time...
I went to the ice cream social at the club house last night met a nice lady and her husband... there were the usual people there... it is a nice way to get to know people...
Stay safe anyone that is in the way of storms...

Good Morning from the Hampton Inn in Apopka.
I'm near Carolinagal and will spend some time with her today while I wait for a path thru the nasty weather to get home.
Spoke with both my niece and dog sitter friend late yesterday. Huntsville was already experiencing flooding problems and some wind and hail damage from earlier storm. This morning several roads are closed due to flooding and one over the mountain due to rock slide over night. At least last nights tornados missed Huntsville and Wendy's area (spoke with her earlier this AM).
Coffee is gone and Carol is waiting for me.
Have a great day.

It is rainy today and chilly but supposed to clear up tomorrow and be in the low 80's by the end of the week.

I am in the dog house! There was a meeting at work last night and I forgot all about it! I had the day off and was home all day playing on my computer so I have no excuse. I called my manager this morning to apologize. She didn't sound too happy. She says she sent me a text message right before the meeting but I didn't get it.

I work this afternoon and then have tomorrow off. I am a big PGA Golf fan and there is a big golf tournament this week at Torrey Pines. I can't afford to go for the actual tournament but tomorrow is the day the pros do their practice rounds and it is free to watch, so I am gonna go check that out! Phil Mickelson lives about 8 miles from here so I know he will be there, so that will be fun to see him play! Tiger won't be playing at this tournament tho.

I remember having an occasional thunderstorm in the winter back in MN. It was really odd to hear thunder while it was snowing out! I really miss thunderstorms (but not the snow!).

Hope you all have a good day and miss the bad storms that are rolling thru.
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)
