Or if you really want to lighten the load - keep the box and toss the generator when it comes.

Seriously, I think you'll be happy you got this. And it will run your lights, etc as well as charge the battery. Just remember, a blow dryer is as bad as an air conditioner or microwave.

I wasn't sure if she meant me - but since you took it as her meaning you- I'll let her go this time (although I could probably dry my hair by shaking my head a couple times).

Actually Mitch, I bought a Honda 2000I companion. The 2000 is big enough to run most stuff but probably not the a/c.
I think it is only 47 lbs., makes life easier on my poor old achy back! This one can be parraleled with another one which would run everything. I don't expect to boon docking when I would need a/c, but who knows...If I find myself doing that I will purchase a second one.
Now as I say all of this, the 2000 would take care of everything in little bitty Tillie, but she is for sale, and I have "up graded" to a 1979 Airstrem Argosy. Molly B. will be pictured here if I can ever figure out "how to".

I have also researched portable generators. I think when I am ready for one it will be a 2000i and get the companion if needed at a later date. I too plan to be dry camp in the cool months. If AC is needed, I want an electrical outlet to plug into.

Congrats on the new to you Airstream. Looking forward to pics.

So, the 2nd new Honda generator arrived today.

Put some gas in (fresh). Put some 10w30 oil in (recommended). Two switches to "on" position. ECONO-mode off.

Have only been able to start it three times. Rest of the time (maybe 5), it won't start, with or without the choke on.
My arm is cursing me. Says if I keep it up, it will go into protest mode and not let me lift a glass of wine later this afternoon.

Any advice?

I had loads of trouble with Jean's - she didn't. Turns out I wasn't pulling it perfectly straight. Once I got the angle right, it started up every time. Don't know what model Honda it was, but that might be why yours is only starting part of the time. She kept hers in the back of the truck - and you had to pull it straight out from it. It was an awkward angle for the short me - so I was angling it.

I took it off the garage floor and took it outside to a brick post that's a perfect height for me. Pulled it straight, pulled it up, pulled it down. I was hoping yours was the easy solution! No go. I'm giving up for the evening. Getting cold and I don't wanna tick off my arm socket so close to The Cocktail Hour...

I'll try again tomorrow.

Dang, I was hoping it was something that simple. You might have to take it in - doesn't sound good or right. Wait till Monday and call Honda. Maybe they'll have a simple answer. I'm guessing you read the manual for any other things it could be.

A neighbor stopped by and we yacked for about an hour. She mentioned maybe I had flooded it.
I tried again as neighbor was leaving, and it started with about 3 pulls!!
I then Googled honda flooding and it's a common problem!!!

I will try it again in an hour or so.

PS: So, that generator is considered QUIET??? I'd hate to hear a loud one!

I'm with you Micth, we have the QUIET one
Only idea have have on starting is to make sure that vent is open on the gas cap. Went over to Molly today, the genney started on second pull. Good luck!
