Happy Friday!!

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Happy Friday!!

Postby HorizonSeeker » Fri Jan 20, 2012 8:22 am

It's finally Friday. Of course my work week ends on Saturday, but I'm still glad to see today. It promises to be warm although at the moment it's only 42. Linda, my fellow workcamper, and I will finish staining porches on the basic cabins today. I'll let Gus lay around outside in the sun near us since there are no guests around to upset him. the guys are working on putting a metal roof on a storage building. They thought us girls couldn't handle all that tool guy stuff. Well, we've removed the screens off the porches, stained, and rescreened the porches (I hate splining) so I think we could help out more on the tool stuff. I think we are good for something besides cleaning cabins.

Still having some slight health issues but I'll fill you all in on that later when I have more answers to share. One more cup of chai and finish my oatmeal then Gus and I are off to work. No time to sit around the muffins and fruit and chat today! Drive carefully girls. Oh, and Sarah, keep doing that happy dance. You deserve it girl!!!

Morning everyone! Trying to suck down enough coffee to inspire my lazy butt to get back on the bicycle and do my auto free living stuff again. I slacked off for health reasons in November and December. Today I have an appointment and my van is sitting in the driveway. Oh the temptation to turn the key and go is soooooooooooo strong... and I am sooooooooooooo weak.

But maybe after a few more gallons of coffee.. the Super Woman Cape will unfurl and ride again.

I have a real nifty bicycle cart that attaches on the fly to the bike so I can't use the "need to go shopping" excuse. The cart can carry half of walmart out.

May everyone one have a fantastic day!

It's a very foggy morning here at Canyon Lake. Can't even see the lake. But Simba and I will be heading out on our long morning walk in a few minutes. We had another quiet night last night with him sleeping in his crate beside the bed. Yesterday I went to PetSmart and am now armed with a Thundershirt, clicker, pheronome dispenser, oodles of treats and chew toys, and a very skinny wallet. I made 3 stops...Dollar Tree, PetSmart, and Walmart. Simba barked hysterically each time I left him to go in a store....so hope one of these methods, and time will help.

Alice, I don't think there's enough coffee to get me on the road on a bicycle. I live 10 miles from town and would have to share the road with 18-wheelers, hot shot trucks and rude guys getting off work. Occasionally I will see someone on a bicycle and think that person has a death wish. When we had more cattle we would drive them down the road to change pastures but it got so dangerous we started moving them in a trailer. One of the reasons we got rid of most of them.

Our weather is predicted to be in the 70's until the end of the month. Yesterday and today it has been so humid which aggravates my cough. We just haven't had much winter so wonder what February will bring.

Can't wait to see Sarah's motorhome in person. I had to look it up on the internet. I'm sure I will see her at a GTG before too long.

Liz, hope some of those things helps with Simba. I have wondered if I could rig one of the spray things to keep the cats from sharpening their claws on the couch.

Need to get moving. I have to go haul some things for my son with my van. He talked about getting a truck but why when Mom has a van. Sometimes I feel like I'm running a delivery service.

At last the snow is melting! i am sure most of you have heard about our big snow storm! Seattle is still a mess, but things are slowely getting back to normal here.. Had some ice rain here yesterday so that doenst help the melt.. I was lucky here .. no outages.. but got out the generator, got the campstove out, etc just in case. We got 18 inches here at my house but some area's got more than that. I sure will be glad to see it go!! Many trees have broken limbs which is causing havoc on hwys, etc.. I have many out back of my house in the cemetery and i heard a few cracking and falling.. Just lucky they arent that near my place.
we are not prepared for snow like this... its far and few that this happens... i am so sick of being stuck in the house!!!

here are a few pics.

Wow that is a ton of snow! That is even a lot, by MN standards! Very pretty tho.

I reluctantly checked my bank account this morning, expecting it to be overdrawn after my trip this week to Catalina Island, but luckily, I still have money in there! Whew!

Had a great time and will post details later... hope you all have a wonderful day!

GOOD AFTERNOON TO ALL, AND WELCOME TO THE MANY NEWBIES I just haven't had the time to welcome individually.

Above is a picture of my site here at my son's in St. Cloud at noon, including one of the palm trees the kids planted last year. It's 10 above zero at my home back in the Adirondacks, and about 75 here today. I miss my little Orion grandson, but I am able to watch him grow via Skype several times a week. But I can't smell him and hold him and squeeze him----in the spring again!

The stray dog I called to have animal control pick up the other day is still at the center and up for adoption---she was found to be free of heartworms, thank heavens, and they saw how sweet tempered she is and very adoptable. I called them again this morning to let them know if she was still there at noon on Monday when they open, I would be coming to sign the adoption papers so they can go ahead with thepaying and shots and all, rather than the euthanizing thing. The logistics of traveling with 2 dogs instead of just Molly will take some doing, although I have traveled in years past with up to 3 dogs at a time. I will need to do some extensive training, get another travel crate and a crate for the house in Orlando and for the trailer, when I have to leave her to go somewhere. She is very smart, and I suspect she will be quick to learn how to be civilized. A sweeter doggy soul I have never met. I have lost this post both today and yesterday while trying to get online to copy the link to the Osceola County Shelter, and this will be my last atempt! I will copy and paste this message to a document now so I can go online and get that link to include this time!

Here she is---I am calling her Dinah for now.

She looks to be an extremely smart dog. I hope someone will see that, too, but am happy to know she will be well taken care of should you become her new Mommy.
I watched the video on the website of Tux the kitty and Spike the Chi mix that are up for adoption, too. If I lived in that area I certainly would consider adopting Spike. What a cutie pie!
Keep us updated on Dinah.

As Soos would say, home I am! I also now am very good at driving in the rain! But it seemed to let up when i had to go thru the most traffic, like in Montgomery. Supposed to be more rain tomorrow than today, was only supposed to be scattered today. I wanted to get on home since the gtr was over and there wasn't reallly much to do but wait overnite in cgs. Had topark the camper frontwards in the driveway, so the door is away from the house, a little harder for unloading. There were cars all up and down the street I had to dodge, thought my neighbor had passed away. Not yet, but the time is very close. Glad to be home, I will travel more in the spring when weather is better but after the gtr it was just boring. Wendy

Soos, somehow I missed a post about your stray dog. Where did you find her? She kind of looks like a beagle from the picture. Does she get along with Molly well?

Liz, seems little puppy steps with Zimba but just to have the sleeping arrangements beginning to work is a good sign the remainder will in time. I took Rudy to the GTG in S AR in October. Since I had never taken him any further than the groomers, I gave him some benedryl before leaving. I left him in the MH to go into WM and he watched me from the driver's seat, was still watching when I returned. I was so glad he would accept being in the mh while we were gathered in the evening. He is joined to my hip all the time and I was certain he would challenge me but I did get lucky. Zimba is very young and if you are firmer than I am no doubt he will be the perfect companion in no time.
Soos, Dinah looks very much like a dog my exhusband and I adopted after showing up in our yard (We were close to the shelter and also kept a Golden that knocked on our door. Golden's are known for sweetness and 'Baby' was very sweet but not any sweeter than 'Lucy' and very good with our grandchildren. They allowed them to ride them, pull their ears, mouth and nose. Mollie will be happy to have a sibling I'm sure.
I talked to my daughter in Seattle yesterday, she took picture from her window at Swedish (hospital). She said it was like being home and getting so excited over a snowfall in AR. We have a really pretty one about every other year, lasting only a day or two at the most. Our ice is not so much fun and we get some doozy's but thank goodness not every year. I didn't think we were going to have enough drop in temp to kill our ticks and fleas for awhile but last week it was in the 30's for a few days.
We are all anxiously awaiting the actual pictures of Sarah's new MH. I looked at the interior shots and and love the way it is arranged. Makes me wish I had just a real bed in mine but mine is probably going to be the one I drive for the duration. There is something to be said for knowing every nook and cranny, quirk, special way to pull, tug or twist, etc.. doesn't keep me from looking at them though.

I know, I know it's not morning, so I will say;

GOOD AFTERNOON SISTAHS!!!

It kinda seems like morning to me tho. Been up for awhile so it really shouldn't? Go figure!

Nothing planned here today of course. I just might get up off my butt and do up dishes, there are only a few. And then I need to sort out laundry and do a little TT cleaning. ~sigh~ Sometimes I wonder which is worse? A s+b house that you can rattle around in and scatter stuff around and pick up once in a while? Or this small TT that needs to be picked up all the time and clean so that it doesn't look like a dump pile????

Weather here today is perfect. Got the door open wide and a nice breeze out there. Tomorrow is also suppose to be in the mid 50's. Then the rest of the week it's the mid 40's and down to the low 20's. I do believe that I like the mid 50's and high 20's, low 30's at night a whole lot better!

Hope everyone has a great day. If your on the road or planning on hitting the road or streets, remember to be safe and careful.

Love to all

Getting into evening now but thought I'd join in. Ever spend a day watching infomercials? I did that about two weeks ago. The TV was on for background noise while I worked but of course all that selling was boring into my brain. By the time the day was over, I could have purchased special diet foods, an exercise machine, special cookware, Victoria Principal's makeup, Cindy Crawford's skincare..you get the idea. Well, I never order from the TV but I decided if I could look like Cindy Crawford, I would buy her products. My package arrived yesterday so last night and this morning were my first applications. Now I have very dry skin and very sensitive skin. I must say that the improvement in how my skin feels is real and it doesn't look all dried out anymore either. Very nice.

Ya think If I keep using this stuff, maybe there is a Cindy clone inside of me....?

Joan, let us know if you find Cindy. My ex-daughter in law gave me a jar of face cream for Christmas 2 years ago. I didn't know if I should be insulted or grateful. When I don't want to get involved in the TV I put it on the Weather Channel. We might have 2 or 3 TV's on the Weather Channel. My son says we're sick.
