One other question: How do you get mail delivered? If you keep moving around like I plan to do--a few days or a week at various state and national parks, can you get mail reliably?? Is there still such a thing as General Delivery where you pick up mail at a post office? What if the package or letters arrive after you leave?

How else does it work??

There is still General Delivery, but if you are moving around it takes some planning. My mail goes to my daughter in Washington and I pick it up once a year - and most of it goes straight to the recycle bin! If something important comes, she calls or e-mails me and sends it if necessary. If I'm expecting something, I give her a heads up . Now that I am stationary in the winter, I do have a few things sent here.

You can leave a forwarding address if the mail doesn't get there - otherwise it will be returned to sender.

I can see all my bills online except medical. Most are paid automatically from my checking or charged to my credit card. Exceptions are vehicle insurance, auto tags and medical.

It's confusing for people and places to understand "full-timing" but more and more are getting there. When I started out there were only 2 insurance companies that I could find that had legitimate full-timers coverage. And having anything less is not a good thing. Now, many are getting on the band wagon. You just have to make whatever state you elect for your domicile the one that you claim for everything. Whether it's using your son's address or using a mail service. My mail service takes care of all my tags. Speaking of which I had them mailed to me here, have received them and have not yet but them on the vehicles. Need to do that.

Beth, what mail service do you use? I can't remember which one Sparkle said she used and it took care of her tags and stuff. I am also leaning towards using SD for everything I need.

Right now my legal address is still TN which at the moment works for me. But then of course my son still lives in TN. But I would really like to go with something that would cover my bases without the need of my son calling me if something is needed right away. Also it would save him from having to sending me any mail that I need. Plus as it is now he also has to go and do my tags. Which isn't horrible but it does mean he uses his time to do so then has to mail the stickers to me.

Thanks

I'm not suggesting that anyone is or would commit fraud, but I don't want to worry about being accused of that. This is all new to me.

I do pay almost all of my bills online and am switchng those I pay by mail, so there shouldn't be much if any mail.

It will be interesting to get more info from my lawyer.

Echo, I use Americas Mailbox - same service Jean used. Out of Box Elder now - which is a suburb of Rapid City. www.americas-mailbox.com . If anyone uses them from this post, please give my number - 2437. I don't care about the referral so much as they care about knowing how people found them.

Judy, I ask them to send mail about every month or so - with this service, you can schedule in advance, or go online and schedule for the next day to be sent. Very easy. Or call them. I usually do it all online. When I know I'll be someplace and it's far enough in advance to get the mail, I simply have them send to me c/o whereever. I haven't had to use General Delivery yet, but would if necessary. And if I'm not sure if a place will accept mail for me, I always ask first. I don't want to not get it for that reason. So far every place I've asked has been happy to - and I let them know even if not there yet - so has to be someplace I make reservations if a campground. I thought it would be a pain or difficult, but the only time it would have been was while in MX - and I simply didn't get mail for that whole period. Works good when you have all your bills, etc on line - and you know all licenses, etc are up-to-date.

The company I am working for uses a Mail Forwarding service. They scan the mail and we look at it online. If you need an item sent to you, you ask for it and pay a fee. So far working fine. For my personal mail, my daughter used to pick it up for me, open it and call me with details. But there wasn't much since I get most correspondence via email and pay all bills by auto debit or online banking.

Re insurance, I have a private BCBS policy that will cover me outside FL. When I switch to Medicare later this year, I'll be sure to get supplemental insurance that covers me while traveling.

we use a mail service place in Madison SD hmm if I had a brain tonight I would come up with the name of the business
Terri sends me the information of what came when its either enough or something important or dh simply wants the mail
will tell her where to send it some times it's general delivery sometimes one of our kids and while here in Q we had a post box
decided not to re rent it as to have one big enough for the package to fit in the box needed a larger one and we simply decided
we couldn't afford it...
good luck with your decisions we choose SD as our domicile state...and Terri does all that we have ever asked her too...
