Is it Saturday already!

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Is it Saturday already!

Postby Colliemom » Sat Jan 07, 2012 8:24 am

A Cheery Good Morning to you all,

Is is Saturday already? Seems like it was just New Years day and now we have a whole week of January off the calendar. Where has it gone? Course in my case, it was a big snowstorm that required part of two mornings to get cleaned up behind, two days of exercise classes at the gym, some shopping and a trip north to Indian River for an afternoon etc. etc....... I think with heading to the gym three days a week, doing shopping and what have you, cleaning the house periodically, walking the dogs, doing some leisure stuff once in awhile etc., my winter is going to fly. Also helps that we are having a very mild winter too.

Had qute a thaw yesterday as temps wenit into the low to upper 40's and even some low 50's across the state. The 9-12 inches of snow we had on Monday has gone down to bare ground in some places or maybe 6 inches in others. Yesterday when I was walking the dogs at Otsego, there was a lot of bare ground showing in the park. And I know that about 25 miles west of me and probably the same said for all directions actually, there is no snow to be had.. We did get a little dusting last night, which is good, cause it's icy out on the road etc, from the melting yesterday, so that will make it a bit easier to walk out there. And it dusted all the tree branches, so it's pretty out there.

Had a good workout at the gym yesterday. A lot of aerobic moves and stretches. Intense, but fun. The lady who conducts these classes is so much fun. There's a very large group of ladies at every class. All ages, sizes and abilities. I can feel my tummy muscles starting to pull in. Won't notice any big difference till after a few weeks of it. I'm thinking of getting one of those stretch resistance cords to use at home here when there isn't a class for weather related reasons or whatever. Some of those exercises, I can do here.

Not sure what I'm doing to day. Think I might head south, down to the Cross country shop. It's about 35 miles or so. Want to check out some things and look at ski sets down there. They are having all kinds of ski stuff going on this month in Michigan and today this particular shop is doing beginning lessons etc., I'm not going to try anything today and being I have used them before, I am not really a beginner, just need a refreasher. But after this big thaw, they may not have enough or even any snow to bother with down there. So I will go look. The of course the 'girls" are going to want their walk. They have been pretty busy these past couple of days with wallking in two state parks, well i walk, they are all over the place, so this morning, they are sleeping in.

Starting tomorrow the GTG gathering is starting. Sounds like enough bail money is on hand, food menus are planned out, shopping probably going on today, plans made for routes to get there etc. Let the fun begin. Have a wonderful time, those of you who are going to be there. But mind you, the rest of us are going to be watching, so behave yourselves, within reason of course

Good morning Sue & everyone!

Sue, it sounds like you are going to have a busy winter. I was going to Curves three days a week for about the last 10 years and will miss that, but I brought along my hoola-hoop and a jump rope plus I hope to be doing a lot of walking to keep some type of exercise regimen going.

It's in the low 50's already in GA this morning and will climb into the 60's with a 30% chance of rain today and tonight. There is a better chance of rain tomorrow. Today is the last full day we'll be spending with our friends in GA as we will get back on the road tomorrow morning to continue our trip south. We will arrive at the state park on Monday for the GTG and I'm really looking forward to meeting so many new people there.

I need to get my day started here, including doing laundry and restocking our refrigerator for the next leg of our trip, so I hope everyone has a wonderful day.

good morning ladies
felt good to sleep in, an extra hour is all it takes to keep me happy. 2012 is showing itself to be a pretty weird year so far if this first
week is any indication of what the rest of the year will be. I hope not, but it is what it is and what I make it. I have to keep telling myself
that. I gained an hour on my schedule at the school district, but lots of shake up going on in the job at the airport. They have only been
in business a year and already they have fired the general manager and replaced with a relative. A few other positions they did the
same. I don't feel secure in my job there now, they took me off my Sunday time slot and when I asked why I was reminded I was JUST
a part timer and that I would take what I got. So for this weekend they have me on the 4:30 to midnight for Sunday and then of course I
have to get up early the next morning for the school district. I'm thinking it might be time to say good bye but I need just a couple more
paychecks to replace my sewing machine and buy my tile. And of course I need my w2's to come in so I can see if I need any extra money
to pay taxes or if I get some back. It was a great year working at the airport Its been said when one door shuts another one opens and
getting that extra hour at the school district makes me feel better about quitting the airport job. We also are getting a raise but I don't
know when. All in all, I still have Saturday at the airport but of course I'm walking on eggshells right now. I want to quit on my own decision
rather than be told my services are no longer needed.
Lacey and the the girls are getting along just fine, sometimes it just comical when Gracie and Lacey are nose to nose trying to kiss each
other and Gracie gets that look on her face that says "what the hell was that?"
Time for another cup of coffee and gotta think about getting the washer started for the day. Ya'll have a great day and I hope you have
good weather where ever you are.

I'm doing laundry.. a necessary step towards packing for the Florida GTG. Its a 400 mile trip from this part of Florida to that part of Florida. After I get the rv out of the shop sometime today, load it, I might knock off a hundred or so miles late this afternoon or evening. I haven't used my rv since the Arkansas GTG so it will be nice to get back out there. I did finally look at the map briefly that my gps suggests to take and all looks well. Always the adventure when gps gets creative.

While at the gtg, a childhood friend that I haven't seen in at least thirty years.. will stop by. When we were kids, we use to ride our bikes together. Every kid had a bike or so it seemed and we never tired of riding the same routes over and over and over again. Now with age, I have to constantly switch up my bike routes out of boredom. Its like when you are a kid, you can watch the same movie a gadzillion times and love it just as much as you did the first time.

Everyone have a great day!

Our weather is headed downhill starting today....Santa Ana winds tomorrow and not as warm. Sure have been enjoying the 80+ temps for the last week! I'm taking the grand girls to see Alvin and the Chipmunks in Chipwrecked today. No one else wanted to go see it with me but my girls will go anywhere with me as long as Mickey D's is part of the program. I just love Alvin!!

The Samcat brought me a present 2 nights ago...a baby bunny. How in the world he got it in the cat door is beyond me, but the poor little thing was screaming like crazy. I got him away from Sam and then he took off through the house with me and Chewy in hot pursuit. Trying to catch him and keep Chewy away from him was hilarious. Afterwards, not during!! I finally got him cornered in a bathroom, Chewy out and the door shut. Managed to throw a shirt over him and pick him up. Poor little thing calmed right down when he figured out I wasn't going to eat him. I took him out in the field and let him go. And then last nite, here comes Sam with another one! I don't know if it's the same dumb bunny or a different one, but this one was a little slower and easy to catch. He's in the dog crate and after I get dressed I'm going to take him about a mile from here to turn him loose. Hopefully he won't make his way back here! Amazing, there's not a bite on him, Sam didn't break the skin when he got him and dragged him in the door. Usually he brings me moles and there's plenty of blood, but he never kills them. He leaves that for me, bless his heart!

Ava, I take it Lacey is part of the family now? Cool beans! Sounds like she's settling in. I missed some posts while I was gone and haven't gotten caught up.

Hope everyone has a great day where ever you are and what ever you're doing! Sure am gonna miss being with you at the Fla GTG and the Texas one, too!

It's been a long first week for me. My sister gave me her cold last weekend and I'm still coughing and blowing. It's getting better but slow. I still have a little cough medicine from my last cold. Hope it will get me over the cough so I don't have to go to the doctor. My son wants to know why I can be sick for weeks and not go to the doctor but as soon as he is sick I make him go. I was back in DeRidder for a funeral Tuesday and Wednesday. I felt so bad coming home I had to stop half way, take some medicine and lay down for a while.

Our weather has been in the 70's for a few days and we have the air conditioner on instead of the heat. It has rained a few times so it's very humid.

I wish there was an exercise class like Sue is going to here. Will have to check with the counsel on aging to see if they have one. We have joined a gym enough times to know that's not going to work. I really hate having to go to town on a regular schedule. I was going to a computer class for a while and that got old fast.

Ava, sorry you are having trouble with your second job. If they are hiring relatives give it some time and they might see that's not going to work. When the relatives start coming and going as they please they will find it hard to run a business with them.

Looking forward to the stories from the GTG.

GOOD LATE MORNING TO ALL!

Ava, I hope you can manage to get your sewing machine and tile and then bid that airport job a fond goodbye! That's a nasty shift to have to work when you have the school job the next day! Glad that Lacey is fitting in and having sort-of fun with Gracie! Good to hear from you.

Alice, that's a haul for you, for sure. I had no idea that panhandle was so long. I hope all goes well with your rig and you for the trip-----can't wait to see you again!

Carol, you are the closest, and will probably be there tomorrow wehn I roll in. I hope I can back in my slot without having a tizzy-fit! Anxious to see you again and Maggie again, too!

Irmi, I can't wait to meet you on Monday!! And all the others, too!

Sue, I am glad you have your schedule mapped out for the long winter months, and I hope you can find a good quality-inexpensive cross-country skiing outfit to use your new muscles out on those beautiful snowy trails! Wish you were coming----another year, perhaps.

The sun's out, the temperature is like summer, and Molly and I are packing up for the campout! I'm off to Win-Dixie, then to gas up. Pete discovered there's a Publix about a mile, or so from the campsite, and a Walmart only about 6 miles from it, so I know I have no need to chock my trailer full to the gills today! I will get enough to make my Win-Dixie gas discount card worth while, and then shop later in the week for other stuff. Today I'll get Slum Goo stuff for Monday's arrivals, Recipe stuff for any time, and some breakfast goodies, chips, and dips, and whatever else strikes my fancy. Then back here to check tire pressure and stow stuff.

Goog and I have been looking at the maps, and I will be taking exit 92 off of I4----much more direct. So whatever is on that other road wil remain a mystery!

I feel really good this morning, and hope that continues throughout this week. I haven't eaten anything yet, and won't until I get back from the shopping trip, however. Kath, I am hoping you feel better today, and that you and Wendy can make it to Wekiwa by tomorrow. If not, we will see you when you can make it.

Off I go-----happy Saturday!
Life is about learning to dance in the rain
Happy travels!

Good morning (barely!) gals!

I slept almost 11 hours last night and woke up with the bed looking like it was just made all around me, so I must have slept really sound all night! Usually, my bed looks like a tornado came thru, by the time I wake up.

Ava, glad to hear the kitty is settling in so well! We need a photo of her! Sorry about the airport job tho. I get so nervous when new management takes over because the changes are usually not good. Apparently, the new people there don't know what a valuable employee you are.

I was supposed to be moving permanently to the other "good" shop next week, but for now they have me going back and forth again between the two. They actually had me scheduled at both shops at the same time for next Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. I told them I am good at multitasking but that was a little more than I can handle! Finally got it changed.

Sharon, I also want to see the Chipmunks movie! Tell us how you like it. Love those little guys! They remind me of my ferrrets with all the meyhem they cause!
I had a cat who brought home a baby bunny on Easter, of all days! My grandma was chasing the poor thing around the house with a broom. I finally caught it behind the couch and let it go in the woods.

Going to Torrey Pines again today, with a new meet-up group for singles. There are over 80 people signed up to go! Not sure how that will be organized, but I am going 2 hours early to get a place to park and walk the beach for awhile. The surf out here has been extremely high (10 to 16 feet high waves) for the past couple days so there might be some interesting things washed up on the beach. They actually had to close the pier in Ocean Beach because the waves were coming up over the pier!

I wish I could be at the Florida GTG. Hope you all have a blast, stay safe, and take LOTS of pictures!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

To Liz - a little late, but - welcome to Texas!

Spent the day helping out at a Christmas Tree recycling event, and got covered by Christmas Tree dust by the chipper. I'm piney fragrant now!

Barbie, the chipmunk movie was really cute! As usual, Alvin got everyone in and out of trouble! I dropped the bunny a half mile from here, so hopefully he'll find a good place to hide out before an owl, hawk or coyote gets him. We have an over abundance of bunnies this year for some reason. A herd of them ate my sons cactus...he wasn't very happy with them. We didn't get back to my daughters house until 4:30 and they were going to go out to eat so ended up going back out with them. The girls were really good today, so all in all a great day.
