Breezy, but Mild Friday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Breezy, but Mild Friday

Morning all,

Bit of a cloudy morning here right now, temps in 30's already. Supposed to go to 44, might break a January record high today, but will have to wait and see. The 9 inches of snow we have here, will be going down, that's for sure. Some areas may approach 50. So the mild winter continues.

Yesterday, I took the dogs and we went up to Burt Lake State Park for a nice walk in the park. They only have about 3-4 inches of snow on the ground up there and some bare spots where the wind blew the snow clear. But also a lot of icy ground due to the rain before the storm hit. But we enjoyed the walk and the dogs had a good time snooping and sniffing all over. We were able to walk along the river trail as well.

I also checked out Guided river raft trips on this river for later this winter, maybe the end of the month or February. I've done a winter raft trip before and found it to be fun, safe and a different perspective on winter. And no you don't get cold, if you dress like you would for any outdoor winter activity.

Gym day today. Cardio exercises. Then off to Wally World, grocery store and home. Will take the dogs to Otsego this afternoon for a walk to enjoy the mild day. Although with the breeze blowing, it will feel cooler.

So I wish all of you a wonderful day, no matter what you are doing. Those heading for the GTG in FL, had better be going with empty stomachs, from what I have been seeing of the menus that are being arranged. Seems like no formal planning as far as activities as Soos said, but plenty of food planning. Hmmm, maybe they should be called Food Meet Ups or something

First Friday

Postby Sojourner » Fri Jan 06, 2012 7:36 am

Hooray, it's Friday!

Not that I should be wasting time on things like this, but I've started an interesting knitting project, called the Sky Scarf. Basically, you take a look at the sky each day and knit a row that represents the weather. At the end of the year you have a scarf "diary" of the weather. (More here: http://www.leafcutterdesigns.com/projects/SkyScarf.pdf)

It's fun, but it's also one of those activities that distracts from what I should be doing, which is downsizing. I don't have to make too many decisions with the scarf (the weather is what it is) but downsizing is a million little decisions.

Hope your weather is fair today!

Morning, Sue - we seem to be up and about the same time a lot lately!
The snow must be beautiful. We could use a good snow day here (although it has been kind of hard to get into gear after the holidays, so it's not like we're overworked!)

GOOD MORNING MEGAN AND SUE AND EVERYONE!

It's much warmer here today also, and the forecast is for nice warm weather for this upcoming campout week----YAY! Very slight rain possibilites on Wednesday, but that won't hinder us campers at all. I am feeling ever so much better this morning as my guts settle down once again, and am looking forward to driving back to my trailer and getting that ship-shape for hauling to the GTG. Sue is right on about the food planning! Meals on wheels is what we all are! My plan is to shop at Win Dixie tomorrow to build up more gas discount credit on my card, and then fill up as the gas prices are headed quickly upward again. I will be glad to get back to my little house-on-wheels. I guess I will call it "Hideout" as someone on the Women's forum sugested, and that's what is printed all over it as it's a Hornet Hideout model. I sort of like that!

I began packing the truck yesterday, so I am nearly ready to head out, as soon as the commuter traffic slows down. I hope I have remembered everything I need from here. Pete says the nearest Walmart to our campsite is only 6 miles away, so that is a good thing, in case....!

Megan I love that diary scarf idea! I hope to see a picture of the finished product! I think I would be lucky to make one with monthly weather patterns rather than daily weather patterns! What color is it?

Time to get rolling here---I will try to post at my son's tonight and tomorrow, and then I may be offline for the duration of the trip. I will bring my laptop in case someone has an internet card with unlimited access, or whatever.

YIPPEE! We are going camping at last!
Life is about learning to dance in the rain
Happy travels!

This sounds like a great idea - I have so much yarn that I have never used. However, I hope my skies turn a bit red, yellow, and pink so I can use up the skeins I have! As I read the directions, it looks like two strands garter stitch the whole way. That is easy to do.

Let's compare scarves next January!!

Good Friday morning to all. That is a pretty picture, Sue. And I tried to tell you the other day (but lost internet service so post didn't go through) what a neat picture of the sun dog. I've never seen nor heard of that before.

That was the same day I tried to fess up about the dumb thing I did when I knew better. I was running my genny and had my little elec. space heater on 'cause it was cold. I had invited Beth over for Chili and decided to pop some corn muffins in my half-time oven to go with it. Oops! You guessed it...too much overload. Everything quit working except the genny which was still purring along. So I figured I had tripped the breaker on the genny. My generator is hard to get to....way up under the middle of the rv. But I crawled under there and felt around for the switch...twice. Couldn't locate it but cracked my head open on the underside of the rv while trying. Blood everywhere, but just a scalp wound, nothing serious. Beth was a good nurse...she donned gloves and checked it out for me. After soaking up a few wash cloths, the bleeding stopped. My bathroom looked like an ax murderer had been there, but all is ok now. I later discovered my inverter is no longer working either, so hope that's just a fuse or breaker as well. I now have an appointment at a Roadtrek dealer near Birdie to get it looked at Monday. Should catch up with Birdie at Canyon Lake on Saturday.

Beth and I have been having a good time traveling down the Natchez Trace. Peaches and Simba loved the hikes and Peaches taught Simba what fun water can be. We are now in LA and will be in TX tonight. We'll part ways tomorrow for awhile.

It was much warmer yesterday and looks like it'll be another beautiful day today. Kathleen, I hope you will be feeling much better today. Soos, so glad to hear you survived the reaming., but glad I'm not your doctor, haha. Megan, that weather scarf will be very pretty. Be sure to post a pic of the results. Everyone traveling to the gtg...stay safe and have fun.

Liz.....Where is Mitch to comment on you being so "hard headed" ?  .....When my daughter was growing up I kept reminding myself that certain traits are really very positive if described with the proper adjective.......so I will call you determined! :)

Soos.. I will most likely turn on the hotspot feature of my cell phone while at the GTG. With your site being next to mine.. there is a chance you will be in range with out having to get out of bed. Fair warning though.. if you see the blue flickering light of my tv, your speed will be reallly slow as I stream all my tv via the internet using a roku box (www.roku.com) Darn 5 gig caps are a killer though and therefore make this a poor solution for internet/tv/etc if full timing. Pre-caps, life was good.. very good.

GOOD MORNING SISTAHS!!!"
Just kind of sitting here, in sort of a daze. Can't seem to wake up this morning for some reason? And I wen to bed at 11pm too. Go figure!

Weather has been beautiful here the past few days! :D Have had the door open enjoying the fresh air and I'm loving it. ;) Now!!! If it would only stay that way until March. HA! We know how that goes.

Was dog sitting again for a couple of days again For Brent and Cindy. Ambulance came and took Brent to the hospital with chest pains and Cindy was staying right there with him. Went over last night at about 8pm to take the dogs out and Cindy was home. If the lights hadn't all been out I would have asked her about Brent. I did speak to him the day they took him as he called, said he was hungry and they wouldn't give him anything to eat until all of his tests were done. Doc had told him if some enzyme was elevated that they were gonna send him to St George. This hospital is real small here and not geared to higher medical care. I'm anxious to find out how he's doing. You couldn't ask for a nicer couple and better neighbors!!!

Nothing planned for today of course. But then again I might go do some laundry? Belch!!! Hate going to the laundry mat. ? Almost as much as I hate going to the dentist!

Ok, off here for now, gonna go check to see what else ya'll have been up to. Be safe in whatever you do and have a great day.

Love to all
