Thursday With a Chill

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Thursday With a Chill

Postby HorizonSeeker » Thu Dec 15, 2011 6:27 am

I'm up early. I guess I'm still getting used to the new work/sleep schedule. Or maybe it's because I forgot to turn on any heat last night. It was so warm in here last night when I went to bed that I didn't think about it. Not really cold but 58 was a bit chilly. Turned on the heat and it's already up to 66 in less than an hour. Yep, I'm loving this climate. I've had my morning cup of tea and started some cinnamon buns in the oven. You'll have to bring your own coffee but the buns are almost ready. Come on over!

GOOD MORNING ALL....

It's another great day in sunny FL. I'm waiting for a set of new solar batteries to power my outdoor squirrel scarer-offer. I got my indoor ones yesterday, with assurances that they would NOT bother any household pets. You simply plug them into a socket in a room and the sound they emit is designed to scare off only mice, squirrels, other rodents, whatever. As soon as I plugged one in, Molly went totally beserk-----she acted as if I were squeezing her to death or tyring to kill her in some heinous manner. I quickly unplugged it, and went out onto the screen porch, shut the doors, and tried it out there. Same response----poor little Molly was certain the end of the world had come! So much for that plan to ward off squirrels! I guess I can plug them in when I am gone from here, after I put Molly safely in the car. They could stay on all summer when I am back home, I suppose. Sigh----what a waste of time that plan was.

After I get the delivery of my outdoor squirrel repeller batteries today, (which is motion-activated and aims in one direction only so as to not bother Molly unless I forget to shut it off when I take her out in the yard), I may head over to St. Cloud. That would give me tomorrow to get to the DMV over there to get my FL ID, as I'm not sure if they are open on the weekends, or not. However, if they come too late in the day, I will wait and go to the trailer on Friday and try for the DMV on Monday.

Hope you all have a good day wherever you may be.

Happy travels!

Good morning ! From not so sunny Fl. :D The weather has been great though, soooooo much better then I am used to this time of year.

I am at my daughters until after Christmas. GD has a birthday party this next Sat. she will be 7, so I am here for all of it. I feel so Blessed. My youngest GS , not quite 4 is beginning to know me, which I am so pleased about. Think he even likes me :o :D If crawling up on my lap is a good sign of this. My 16 yr. old GS, is a real joy, sure have to look waaay up at him though, he has gotten sooooo tall.

I have missed so much on the forum, But do hope all are well, if not that you will be soon. I know you must all be very busy getting ready for the Big day.

I'm certainly enjoying my stay here in Fl. I had forgotten just how nice Fl. can be during the winter. Being an out of state person is not good on the pocket though and to think I lived and paid taxes in this state for over 50 yrs., I have this nagging feeling, something is not fair here, somehow :? such is life

Have a great day, those traveling stay safe, those under the weather, get well soon. Whatever and wherever you are, enjoy your day.

CARol :)
Soos, think we tried to post about the same time, if you're in sunny Fl., I sure am in the wrong part LOL sun will be here soon, I think, but doesn't really matter, I love the temp.

 Good Morning Ladies,

Starting to push toward noon already, so had better get this post in, or it won't be morning anymore. Such a cloudy dreary day here today too. Lots of rain yesterday and last night. Now the temps are supposed to drop and change to snow later this afternoon, but no big deal expected, as the majority of the moisture went east with the storm. What snow will come, is mainly in the form of lake effect from Lake Michigan and the winds are not supposed to be in our favor in this area for any amount of accumulation. Maybe an inch or 2 if that.

Just got back from a quick trip to town. Got a email message through Facebook, that some of the park staff from Otsego Lake SP where I work summers, are getting together for a Christmas party. We have been doing this for a number of years but with the boss and lead Ranger leaving, and some of the former staff not returning this year, i figured that would be the end of the parties. That gang looks for any excuse to have a party. Well, they decided to get together anyway and sent out the notices. Kind of last minute, but that's okay. I'm not particularily a party person especially with a lot of younger college party people. I will probably be the oldest one there  But over the years we have all gotten older, some are married now with kids etc., so the parties are taking on a different style. So I guess I will make a lime Jello salad to take along.

One of the things we do is pick out a White Elephant gift from around our houses that we don't want anymore, wrap it up nice and pretty and put it under the Christmas tree at the party. We all draw numbers and take our turn as our numbers are drawn. We can take a choice of any package we want. Well, I discovered that I didn't have any wrapping paper, hence the trip to town. There have been some hilarious times with those presents. If someone get something that someone else likes, they can ask to exchange their turn for that present, if the person with the present wants to give it up. Sometimes we do, sometimes we don't.

I get the message from all of you about my thinking of selling my trailer next year. I haven't made a definite decision on that yet. I do like it and I don't mind towing it around, but there are times when I get lonesome or bored on my trips cause everybody's with other friends or family around me. I like ot be out raveling, seeing the sights and not sitting in one place too long. Right now i can't do that till i retire. And I also love the freedom of the open road, not having a trailer behind me and maybe when I retire I may want to look into a small MH or something. I have to dogs right now, but with Sassy going on 10, I don't know how many more years she will have left. Hopefully a few, but you never know. And Tessa is right behind here at 8 going on 8 and a half. So I will be going down a dog or maybe both in a couple of more years maybe. Most of my collies have not lived past 11 due to health problems setting in. The TT is nice in that I can park without much problem, leave it and use it for a base, the which i have many times these past couple of years.
I know there are a number of you who do pull trailers all over the country and don't seem to mind it.

Lori, I know what you mean about having to get up at % a.m. due to dog. Same thing here this mornng. Tessa woke me up and I took her to the door to see if she wanted out. Nope. Got a drink, refused to go out. So back to bed we went, she sleeping with me last night. But she promptly wet the bed a bit later :o  Needless to say, I got up and put some towels under the sheets till I got up later as it was 4 a.m. But she seemed to be restless from then on. I'm kind of wondering if there may have been a little bitty Tstorm in the area as the temps were quite mild this morning and she was acting like she does when there is one around. So needless to say, the bedding is in the dryer right now. Guess I get a clean bed to sleep in tonight anyway

Well, lunch time here. Have a great afternoon all.

Morning to all.

its been very chilly here the last 2 weeks.. in the low to mid 30's then acouple of nites down to 28.. brrr... I have been taking some short walks... love the cold crisp sunny days... today its back to rain.. maybe later today i will get out... to cold to take my little dog with me on walks, as much as i know she would love to go, so she gets her quick romp in the back yard.

but there are times when I get lonesome or bored on my trips cause everybody's with other friends or family around me. the sights and not sitting in one

I have felt that way many times... i did sell one trailer and was sorry i did... I do have friends i go with now and its alot more fun. Her hubby is an older man and if something happens to him i probably wont have any camping partners anymore... I dont mind going alone but if i didnt then i wouldnt get out at all..
wish we lived closer so we could go camping together.... hoping to join up with Almost there sometime next summer ??

well xmas is almost upon us again..i have gotton myself acouple of early presents this yr.. a new camera lens, and some fiestaware dishes... its been along time since i have gotton any gifts so this yr i said i was gonna "treat myself' ..... I am alone this yr again. will go to friends for a nice xmas dinner tho..

Hope everyone has a great day.....

Good Morning the rain has stopped here in Normal... what a rainy day we had... but today the temps will drop... I got a lot done yesterday... finally got my new phone and oh the learning curve is going to be long I am afraid... no internet just text and talk... not even able to send pictures so it should be easy NOT!

Shadow looks so handsome with his hair all clean and a blue scarf tied on his neck... that should last him till we get to a warmer climate then my daughter gave me a little pool that I can put water in and maybe wash him there... he does not like water just to drink!

My daughter Jackie is coming along fine with her knee surgery... the doctor ordered in home therapy 5 days a week for two weeks... he does not want her out on the ice... she is in considerable pain but that is to be expected... pass the pills please... lol

My grandson Mark is busy working in Columbia... not easy as he does not like the food! his dad said there are so many things to trouble shoot that they shoot e-mails back in forth all day yesterday he sent 40... how fun to try to figure out what is needed several thousand miles away with only a few words... the plant was suppose to be up and running by now but needless to say it is not...

Sue I hope Tessa does not have an infection... that is hard for sure... I too understand the alone problem... I have been alone for 20 years and the first part was very hard now I have just accepted it and it is the only way I get out... if you can find someone in the group that likes to do the things you do you could team up and still each have your own space...

Take care everyone
Kathleen

Good morning all. another warm day but a little cloudy. Im going to stay home and putter around here today, brcause once I leave the house I dont come back and nothing gets done! Sue, Im thinking like you. It seems this lifestyle/hobby is full of decisions. I get bored by myself too, but most people don't seem to. Sometimes I wonder whether to try to sell the mh and just do other things. often think id like something else, but money owed on it dictates whether I can sell it. House is paid for, but prices are dopping like lead around here. Next door neighbors just lowered thie price ANOTHER 20,000, thats 70,000 less than they started at. If it sells for that, it automatically lowers the value of mine. Well, enough rambling but at least most of my decisions are being made for me! Everyone have a safe fun day. Wendy

Still morning here in central south Texas. Is a rainy day and I am loving it!!!! Started with a sprinkle about 5:30 this morning and has been do some drippy and real rain off and on all morning. Just a slight breeze. I am working on rearranging my rig.....again. It is always a fun thing to do. But some times I end up going back to the way it was before. Anyway, I am staying inside and keeping nice and cozy. The temp is hovering at 57 just now. Well, I hope that we just continue to get the rain. But I do need to get the roof on my rig washed and treated and we must have some sun to get that done.

Need to go back to rearranging and planning the drive to Alaska. So....if you are on the road be safe where ever you are have fun.

Morning from the drippy PNW, but I'll take liquid snow anytime!

A call from my DD woke me but it was past time to get up anyway (8:00). She forgot to remind me of my youngest GDs Christmas program at school today at 1. Should be fun and I get to wear my new jeans (in a smaller size :D ). I'll also take their Christmas presents to put under their tree. They are going to be out of town for Christmas (AZ), and I'm not sure when they will open their presents, so they will be already there and waiting.

Went to the Dr yesterday for my swollen finger. I first called the Regence Blue Cross/Blue Shield nurse just to see what they would ask/say. She asked some really off the wall questions like vaginal discharge and bruising under the skin. (she warned me beforehand that some of the questions were going to seem non related to my call). Just strange. Anyway, she suggested I see the Dr. So off I went to Urgent Care. The Dr seemed to be fascinated by my huge knuckles, which I've always had. He was suspecting RA, so sent me for xrays and blood work. Later yesterday, I get a call back and they said the xrays showed no arthritis at all, no breaks or chipped bones, but did show osteoporosis. Still not sure what is going on so will await the blood test results. In the meantime I'm taking anti inflammatory meds. and got referred to a bone Dr. The meds seem to be helping as my finger isn't as tender today, still a bit swollen, tho. Oh, the wonders of aging! :?

Sue, hope Tessa's potty accident is non related to her urinary problem. Poor thing.

Wishing everyone a blessed day!

I'll give you another chuckle Vicki. I broke my elbow just after I got out of the Navy so went to the VA hospital in Nashville. The same hospital that had reviewed my medical records extensively only a month before when I was considering going into the reserve. They would not xray my arm until they had performed a rabbit test. I peed in the cup and prayed for a positive. That doctor and I had just weeks earlier discussed whether or not I should be on hormone therapy after my hysterectomy! final verdict: broken elbow but no bun in the oven.

Sue and Kathleen
Some of us have husbands and still have to RV alone! At least you can do what you want without feeling guilty for wanting to go RVing. There are always people traveling alone when you get out there. Just walk around and say hi. If I didn't have a husband, I would be full timing.

Vickie, weather was the same in Campbellsville today - no heat here last night either. Only turned it on for a few minutes in my bathroom to take a shower.

Only day off this week - State Park folks put together an "open house" for us staying here - with goodies, very good goodies. When Molly and I went over, learned we were the first 2 to do so. When we left, no one else had yet shown up. I sure hope someone else does - as these folks have been great to us - and they had no reason to put something like this together other than being nice.

Molly, Peaches and I then went shopping and out to eat. Back to the Mexican restaurant with the neat tables and chairs. And more great food.

Home and relaxing.

Life in a motorhome doesn't have to be much different than life in a stick and brick. If you get bored in one, you probably will in the other. Lots to do, etc - in either one. Or not do, too :) I'm good at the not doing.

Lenora, I started having the swollen aching finger joints about 5 years ago. I had the blood tests also and showed no RA either. Only one finger is spared besides my thumbs and it's my ring finger...I love rings but can only wear one on the ring finger. I just have fun and change rings everyday, not going to worry about the ugly ones. My left index is getting very ugly..it is swollen at knuckle nearest tip and pointing east..weird!
