Joan, just an added comment....that 1/4 tank sometimes seems closer to 1/2 depending on ???? I don't know what. I just know that I started the dinner one evening and Carolinagal finished it for me when I no longer had a running generator. I now try to keep the tank much fuller if I am anticipating having to run the gennie. I have had to run it all night before (at a cold winter dog show in Michigan that had no hook-ups. ) It didn't take as much gas as I thought.

I've got a Class A MH and if I don't use it for a month or so, start up the genny with the A/C running for the load - do that for about 40 minutes or so. Has worked great.

Isn't it interesting how much conversation we have had over generators..that's one of the beauties of this forum.

Anyway, I should mention that my gen. manual says to change the oil every three hundred hours. The repairman told me to change my oil once a month the way I am using it every day this winter while dry camping in the desert (even when I told him I would be doing it myself and won't be bringing it in to him...to save money). I use it two and a half hours per day which doesn't come near 300 per month. So, I will change it when the oil looks like it needs it, even I can figure that out, but no longer than 300 hours. But, I can't speak to any other generators but it sure is something to look up in your manual...these gens are expensive so gotta take good care of them...just another little routine and we are all certainly capable enought to take care of our friendly gennies....take me for instance, I nearly killed the poor thing with good intentions.
