Cloudy Monday Morning

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Cloudy Monday Morning

Good Morning all,

I'm home from the U.P.. We had an uneventful trip home. When we got up yesterday morning, it had rained of course all day for the most part on Saturday and then the temp dropped during the night changing it over to a light dusting of snow and freezing my truck into a cake of ice. The frame of my tonneau cover actually froze to my tailgate and we couldn't get it open  . Finally sprayed my spray anitfreeze stuff along the edge and took a knife and slid it along the edge as well to get it open. Great start for the trip home  .

The roads were fine for the most part, just wet and a little slush here and there for about the first 10 miles. We stopped in Ishpeming for breakfast and then headed east on just wet roads. Ran into some lake effect snow showers coming in off Lake Superior in the area that's known for that stuff. The road follows right along the lake at that point and the wind was buffeting my truck a bit. But once past all that, no problem from there on. Clear dry roads by the time we turned to head south to U.S. 2. Lots of traffic heading home, so the roads were busy.

All the way home though, we did have some snow showers periodically and especially around this area which is high elevation anyway. It was a rain/snow mix when we got home here and Branda decided to head for home rather than spend another couple of nights as she had originally planned. She was worried about the weather as she didn't like what we had to start off in yesterday morning. The southern part of Michigan seems to be getting more lousy weather than we did last winter and as she told me this morning in an email, they are supposed to have some lousy stuff tomorrow down there, so she was glad she headed home. Here we have a nice forecast for almost all week. Plus I think she was ready to get back to "civilization" as the part of the U.P. we were in is pretty isolated and lacking the stores she is used to etc. And she has projects she wants to get back to and her routines etc. But we had a great time.

So this morning I am heading into Gaylord, to do some shopping and take care of business that needs attending to after being gone a week, plus pad the checkbook for the upcoming charge bill from this trip  I have unpacked everything except a couple of boxes of stuff and have the first load of washing going right now. Will do more later on. Then I think I might take the girls over to the park for a run. They have really been sleeping since we got home.

Just having a light breakfast here this morning, have to restock the larder. Need to lose some weight after a week of eating

So, hope you have a nice day this last Monday of November. If you are on the road, enjoy your travels and keep safe, and everyone else, have a nice day.

Good morning and hope everyone is well after this busy weekend. Yesterday I just rested the whole day while planning to walk, ride my bike, clean the garden out, etc....all the while resting. Obviously I did not get anything done. Maybe it is all that tryptophan in the turkey leftovers. It is another beautiful day in the 60's and we are getting spoiled waiting for Mother Nature's other shoe to drop. The hyacinths are starting to peek out of the ground..what do they know? They had a few freezes, over a foot of snow, and now it is in the 60's. Spring has sprung for them. I am going to cover them with some leaves to protect them from the nighttime temps.

I was checking out the mileage to Mustang Island in Texas just to see if that GTG was doable...2000 miles each way...not exactly a weekend trip. I've been to Texas a few times but never on the shore. It should be a wonderful time for everyone who attends. If I drove to Texas, I would keep on going to the mountains and deserts and make it a real tour of the West. Someday..

Good morning from the PNW! I don't need to stick my nose outside to know it's clouds and wet. For now, at least, it's only wet from earlier rains, nothing coming down right now.

Hope everyone had a super Thanksgiving weekend. I enjoyed mine. I spent the day with my DD and her family. She did all the cooking :P Then later in the day we went to her neighbor's house for dessert. I did indulge in some peanut butter pie and cheesecake with berries on top. After that I stayed over night and brought my 2 GDs home with me the next day as their parents both had to work. My DD worked a flight to Chicago and while she was there, ran in a race with her cousin and aunt. Me and the GDs played here at home (Apples to Apples is super fun!), but decided we needed to get out and ended up at the mall and then out to lunch at Red Robin.

Yesterday was weigh-in at Jenny Craig for me. I was anxious getting on the scale but was happy to have lost another lb.!

Won't be long and this month will be over! Today is my DD's birthday. Hard to believe she's 41!
Please keep my son (and all our troops) in your prayers. Hard time for them during the holidays. Thanks!

GOOD MORNING SUE, CAROL, LENORA, AND ALL!

Welcome home, Sue----glad to see you made it safely after a fun trip north. Thank heavens you had the antifreeze spray stuff so you could pack! I can remember having to use that stuff on my doors of the truck so I could get to school some mornings. Glad Brenda made it safely back to her place, too.

Carol had a well-deserved rest day yesterday, I would imagine! I am planning to cook me a turkey here today to provide me with leftovers for a week, or more!

Lenora, CONGRATS for losing a pound over the holiday! That's hard to do!

I am back at my house in Williamsburg this morning, too. The kids and I had a yummy steak dinner grilled last night, played a game of cribbage (which I won by just a final "31 for two" pegging points! I had to get those two points or Weldon would have won, as I counted last!

Sunny, warm, nice breeze, low to no humidity, perfect day here again. I am going to ride my bike to Publix to pick up a roasting pan to bake my turkey I got after-the-fact at the St. Cloud Publix for just $8.00. I am looking forward to having mashed potatoes and gravy and stuffing for days to come!

A cold front is moving through here later this afternoon, so we will only get up to the 60s during the days, with the 40s at night-----have to laugh at the contrast between FL cold fronts and the Adirondack cold fronts!

Just got off Skype with Mandy and little O, so I got my baby/daughter fix for the day! I am really hoping to upgrade this computer so I can use my camera allowing them to see me while I am watching them. I don't have enough memory, or something, on this laptop to allow it to work. Any suggestions for the best laptop or tablet-that-is NOT-an-iPod to work? Or, I could also try for a newer laptop as this one is at least 6 years old now and has a hard time running with all the new things out there. So far, I am impressed with the newest, 32GB, Ausus Transformer tablet and docking station, or the Asus laptop that I can't remember the model of right now. I am open to any suggestions.

Happy Monday wherever you may be!

I think we have the best weather in the country right now. Has been in the mid 80's the past few days and will be again today.

I worked all weekend and now finally have a day off. Have some bills to pay and then will finally get to try out my new bike! Might also go for a hike at Torrey Pines since it is so warm out.

Yesterday, Lola brought a bird into my bedroom. My roommate, Delaney, saw her bring it in and ended up chasing the bird all over my room and into my closet where she finally caught it and let it go outside. Luckily, it was scared but unharmed.

Hope you all have a good day! :D
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)
