Rain/snow Sunday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Rain/snow Sunday

Postby Colliemom » Sun Nov 27, 2011 6:37 am

Good Morning everybody,

Hope you all slept tight last night. I know I did. Now I'm up and at em. Today is the day we head back south to home. Sure hate to leave as I love it up here, but that's the way it goes. Weather at the moment is a little rain/snow mix, nothing serious other than some lake effect snow expected in the central part of the U.P. along the Lake Superior shoreline. I hope we are through that area before that happens and it's wide open to the lake there. But first got to wait for Brenda to rise and shine and for us to get the stuff into the truck, plus wait for daylight etc.... Sorry to say, no breakfast here this morning as we are going to stop and eat it on the way through Ishpeming.

We didn't do much of anything yesterday. Was a foggy rainy day here. Did go to Ishpeming and check out some flannel sheets I had seen earlier and was waiting to see if they got marked down anymore from Black Friday. They were, so I grabbed a set for the TT. Also spotted electric blankets on sale, and grabbed one of them too. After the we went to a local bakery that's well known up here and I bought a loaf of wheat/raisin/walnut bread and boy it is ever good. That's the first time I have gotten anything at this bakery and had I known how good this bread was, I would have bought a couple of more loaves to take home and freeze. Heck, it might drive me to have to come back up here and get some  I doubt they are open today, but if they are, I'm stopping. We also picked up some pasties too.

So that's all that's going on around here right now. Guess it's time to get moving and get dressed. The girls are still sleeping too, but on the floor and not in their beds, so i will get their beds ready to put in the truck etc. Have a wodnerful Sunday all.

Good morning Sue & everyone!

Sue, I've so enjoyed reading about your adventures on your trip this past week. It sounds like you & Brenda really had a good time. Drive careful going back home.

It's the last day of the long Thanksgiving weekend and it's been so relaxing. The woodstove is stoked and it's feeling toasty in here now. I don't have any plans for today other than enjoying the day before returning to work tomorrow.

Have a good day everyone!

Good Morning to All - Have hot coffee and Mexican pastries. The sun is just starting to lighten the sky. The wind and sand are blowing like crazy. We are rocking and the slide covers are flapping. No sense trying to go back to sleep. As soon as the sun is up the wind should calm down, I hope. Bill had a couple of his kites out yesterday. They sure are pretty. Fixed chicken and pasta for dinner last night - Other than that quiet day.
Today if its nice we'll go up to Alamos - an old town inland about 40 miles. There is a big outdoor market there on Sundays.

GOOD MORNING SUE AND ALL!

It seems as if you just got to the Upper Peninsula, Sue! Whatever happened to this past week? It sounds as if you and your friend didn't waste any time while there, however.

Carol is at home in her beloved Mexico once again, enjoying the beaches----I am jealous!

Irmi is basking in the warmth of her woodstove, which, from here, almost seems enticing! (Of course, I no longer have to go out and shovel the firewood out from under feet of snow and ice, carry it inside to melt and dry out, stoke the stove, take ashes out, clean stove pipe, and so on!)

I deserve a congratulations for making it to the proper arrival gate at Orlando International Airport last night! I stopped by Pete's place to get the call from the kids that they had landed safely, (his campground is much closer to the airport than I am here) and the guys there all told me about the "cell phone parking lot" just before you get to the airport where you can wait for calls from whom you are picking up for free---no cost to park. It was wonderful to know about that for both last night and for future reference! So, when they got through customs and were outside waiting for me, they called and talked me right to where they were! Piece of cake-----sort of! At least next time I will be better at it! Thanks Pete, Jerry, and all! (Although Pete's brother did his best to confuse and terrify me even more than I was!)

The day dawned sunny, warm, no humidity, beautiful breeze, and, apparently, as per usual down here in late fall, just about perfect! What can I say! I have two newly-weds back, safe and sound, and happy, doing laundry and re-organizing their lives to begin another work week tomorrow. Melissa just got the results of a mid-term test she took for her course she is taking, the week before they left, and she earned a 95%!! She got the job she interviewed for that same week, and it will mean another $7,000 a year! All's right with the world!

I have steak to grill for us today, when they are ready to eat, fresh edible peas-in-pods, mashed potatoes, and ice cream for dessert. Tomorrow I will head back to my house for a while, getting stuff done there that needs to be done, including paying the real estate tax bill for this year. And I will swim before the cold front that is headed our way arrives.

Happy Sunday to all!
Life is about learning to dance in the rain
Happy travels!

Great job, Soos. I too always like to remember that all brave adventures are not to far away places at great distances but getting out there and discovering new to me experiences that add depth to my more everyday comfort zones...... :) Lets hear it for easy airport access for picking up travelers. The young kids can't imagine how in the dinosaur days we had to struggle to find a parking spot (and bring $$$ to pay for it) and walk into the terminal and find the right gate and person because they would have no way to knowing where you were, if you had even made to the airport. ANd two hours later you were back on the road......

It also makes good byes less drawn out.....a hug and a wave (and a tear or two or three) and they are gone from the "drop off" zone and you are back on the road......

The cold front is coming through here today. I think the rain has passed. We only got 1/2 inch. Looking at the radar last night it looked like we would get a lot but it must have been light. Don't think there was any thunder and high winds.

I have lunch on the stove waiting on my DH and son. They are trying to separate some sick calves so we can give them a shot this afternoon. I hate to get new calves because some always come in sick. I wish the sun would come out so it would warm up a bit.

I like the airport in Lafayette, only 2 gates. Usually no problems unless you get bumped from a flight. Seems like lately they regularly overbook flights. Makes it bad if you have to change planes. I'm not really afraid to fly but sure don't like it. Would rather go in my RV if I have time. When my son was in New Jersey I flew into Philadelphia a few times. My son would have to drive around and around trying to pick me up. They wouldn't let you stop anywhere. The cell phone parking lot sounds like a good idea.

Whew! I'm all out of breath from hurrying to get in here and I'm STILL late. Dang! Just had to stop and read a few things.

Lazy day today for sure. I think Kelly is gonna go to laundry, she's down to her last two pairs of panties. snicker, snicker Today will be my last 'baby' sitting day. Brent and Cindy should be home this afternoon sometime and boy oh boy will those 2 puppers be glad to see them! :P Sassy the Chi I think sits in the big window and watches for me now. Took Shade out yesterday afternoon and when I moved out into 'our yard' and was visible to Brent's 5'er she started to put up a racket. Let Shade back into the TT and walked over to let them out and they were both at the door before I could get there. :D I will have to look up the mileage as I don't know how far it is from here to Ogden.

Will have to look online for a replacement toilet for the TT. Thought we were gonna have to get one sometime this year, but Kelly figured out how to stop the water from constantly running into the bowl. But the valve that controls the water has finally died. So a new toilet is in the very near future. ~sigh~ More money out the window and into someone else's pocket. Story of my life.....

OK, off to see what else there is to read and to catch up.

Love to all
