Awhile back actually quite awhile back there was a topic about cheap glasses ordered on line...and several of you have ordered on line...my question is how do you get a good fit for bifocals? and trifocals? when they have to be so precise in how the glasses fit? My husband is needing glasses badly and one of our dd's said she has gotten them from 39dollarframes...but she doesn't have to do bifocals/trifocals...so was wondering if any of you do and how it's done

I got my glasses from 39dollarglasses.com and am very happy with them but I don't have bifocals, altho I know they will do them there. Beth got hers from another site she liked better.

I couldn't get a good deal from 39dollar.... so switched to Zenni Optical which was recommended by Karen, our traveling nurse. www.zennioptical.com -

My glasses are progressive lenses. You simply need to have the exact progressive prescription (or bifocal prescription) and then have your eyes measured for the pd #. I went into a Walmart optical and got the measurement. Then, because I wanted to be sure, when I passed another optical store, I went in and asked if they could do that and they did (both free) and it was the same - so I felt confident. There are ways to do it yourself, but I was afraid I'd get it wrong. And I was still afraid putting through the prescription (with 39dollar, I ordered and after a time got notice they couldn't do that prescription with those glasses - and they told me to select different lenses - so I did, and the same thing - until I got frustrated and had them refund me). With Zenni, I got the online help once, and called their customer service # after when I had another question, and it all went smooth as pie. After you get the glasses, if you want, you can go to any local optometrist (including Walmart) and have the frames fitted, if necessary. I didn't need to do that. But the prescription and pd # will get you the lenses made correctly.

Good luck.
