Willie the Jeep had an Adventure in Mexico

Postby asirimarco » Mon Nov 21, 2011 9:17 pm

Just updated my blog about our very different day spent with the police in Nogales, MX Tonight we are staying in the parking lot of the immigration area waiting for the police to pick us up again tomorrow morning to go back to Nogales, MX to pick up Willie. There is nothing wrong with the Jeep he is fine just waiting there for us.
Tomorrow as soon as we are all together we'll head south to Hermosilla.
Looking forward to sleep tonight. With chemical help.

Glad the outcome was good but makes you wonder how safe it is right there at the border where you'd think you'd be safest. And how fortunate Bill speaks the language. Hope the rest of your trip is noneventful.

Wow! I'm guessing yall know how very lucky you were to get Willie back. I had a Mustang stolen 2 blocks across the border in Nuevo Laredo, never to be seen again.

Great outcome but sure that is an adventure you could have done without.

Carol, I agree that it could have happened anywhere - but what a pain that it had to happen at all. I have the locking pins, too - but they are tighter than the other ones, so haven't been using them. Will have to reconsider that.

So glad you got Willie back and I hope his further adventures are ones you take him on by choice.

If it was going to happen it is good it happened to us and not a lot of the other people who were here at the same time - Bill was able to give the first police here an excellent description of the car in Spanish. It went out on the air to the patrol cars immediatelly. And we gave them a picture. It really helped that Bill is fluent in Spanish. Although there were English speaking men and women there too. Willie is a very attractive car.
Any way we'll be on the road later today. When we're in Mazatlan or maybe Huatabampito were going to have the pins drilled so we can put locks on them.

I'm so glad everything worked out in your favor. It's just a shame you lost some of your personal possessions, but at least they can be easily replaced.
